Abstract

Candles (Aleurites moluccana) have numerous benefits for human life. This is evident in Siboruon Village, Balige District, Toba Regency, North Sumatra Province. Candlenuts are a major agricultural commodity and are quite abundant during the harvest season. Post-harvest candlenut processing is still relatively conventional, often done manually by directly pounding the candlenuts, resulting in less than optimal production capacity. Therefore, researchers will conduct a design that will facilitate the cracking of candlenut shells. The authors used experimental research, constructing tools and conducting direct testing on objects in Siboruon Village, Balige District, Toba Regency, North Sumatra Province, from January to December 2024. The main frame of the candlenut shell cracking machine was designed using ST 37 angled steel with an "L" profile measuring 40 x 40 x 4 mm. The tools used included welding, a cutting grinder, a rolling ruler, a steel ruler, a pin, a square, and a scraper. The steps involved in constructing the main frame of a candlenut shell-cracking machine are: 1) Preparation of working drawings, 2) Material cutting planning, 3) Cutting process, 4) Assembly process, 5) Welding process. Based on the results of this final project, a candlenut shell-cracking machine has been produced. After construction and functional testing, the frame is capable of supporting the load applied by other components and can support the machine properly

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of applying Zep Quiz media with the Team Games Tournament (TGT) cooperative learning model on students' motivation and cognitive learning outcomes, particularly on the topic of ratios at PKBM Putra Bangsa Demak. The background of this study is rooted in the observation that students demonstrated a lack of learning motivation and low learning outcomes. This study employed a quantitative descriptive approach. The research utilized a pre-experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest design. Data collection techniques included pretests-posttests, questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed an N-Gain score (0.59) higher than the established indicator (0.3), signifying that mathematics learning on the topic of ratios using Zep Quiz media with the TGT model was effectively implemented, achieving a moderate N-Gain score. The use of Zep Quiz media also influenced students' learning motivation. The average student learning motivation before implementing Zep Quiz with the TGT model was 63% (sufficient category), whereas after the implementation, it increased to 93% (very good category). This indicates that learning with Zep Quiz media and the TGT model impacts students' motivation and cognitive learning outcomes, and is classified as effective with a moderate level of improvement. Therefore, quiz-based digital media has been proven to be an innovative solution for the mathematics learning process in the digital era.

Abstract

This research is based on students low understanding of physics concepts due to learning that is still teacher-centered and the use of printed student worksheets that are not interactive enough. This research aims to develop an E-LKPD (Student Worksheet) based on the BOPPPS model (Bridge-in, Objective, Pre-assessment, Participatory Learning, Post-assessment, and Summary) as physics teaching material to train the conceptual understanding of eleventh-grade students. The method used is research and development, referring to the steps of the Borg & Gall model up to stage 9, which is product revision after usage testing, due to time limitations in the research. The development of E-LKPD based on the BOPPPS learning model yielded results from content experts indicating a very feasible category, while media experts categorized it as feasible. Limited trials with students were categorized as very feasible, and the results of usage tests with 100 students in three high schools in Bandar Lampung were categorized as very feasible. The response from physics educators also supports the feasibility of the E-LKPD, with a very feasible category. This research contributes to the use of technology. It is also innovative because it develops E-LKPD based on the BOPPPS model, which is relevant to the demands of 21st-century learning. It uses a systematic and structured learning model, enabling active student engagement, and has an attractive and easy-to-use product design with digital QR code technology. However, this research is still limited to three schools with a relatively small number of participants and has not quantitatively measured the improvement in learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to implement personalized learning based on differentiated learning in order to increase the interest in learning mathematics of class X-6 students of SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya. The research method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest type. The research subjects were 30 students who participated in learning using LKPD adapted to their learning zones (visual, verbal, and practical). The research instrument was a learning interest questionnaire given before and after treatment. Data analysis was carried out through normality tests, t-tests, and N-Gain calculations. The results showed that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed and there were significant differences between the two (Sig. 0.000 < 0.05; |t count| 8.111 > t table 2.002). The average N-Gain obtained was 0.51 with a medium category, with a distribution of achievements of 30% high, 50% medium, 16.7% low, and 3.3% unchanged. These findings indicate that the implementation of personalized learning based on differentiated learning is able to increase students' interest in learning through learning that is more personal, relevant, and in accordance with individual learning styles. This research also has a positive impact on mathematics learning, namely creating a more adaptive learning environment, increasing active student involvement, reducing negative perceptions of mathematics, and helping students understand concepts more deeply through learning paths that suit their readiness and preferences.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of the STAD cooperative learning model, supported by Articulate Storyline, on the mathematical problem-solving skills of junior high school students. The method used was a quasi-experiment employing a non-equivalent control group design. The population for this study comprised all Year 7 pupils at SMP Negeri 1 Pancur Batu. The sample consisted of Class VII-3, comprising 33 students, as the experimental class taught using the STAD model supported by Articulate Storyline, and Class VII-1, comprising 33 students, as the control class taught using the direct instruction model. Before hypothesis testing was conducted, the data were first tested for normality and homogeneity. Hypothesis testing used the Independent Sample T-Test. The results of the analysis showed that the significance value was <0.001, which is below the significance level of 0.05; therefore, H₀ was rejected and H₁ accepted. The calculation of Cohen’s d showed an effect size of 0.990, which falls into the large category. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the STAD learning model supported by Articulate Storyline has a significant effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. Furthermore, this study indicates that the STAD learning model supported by Articulate Storyline not only exerts a significant influence but also enhances students’ mathematical problem-solving skills. Furthermore, there was an improvement in students’ mathematics learning, with students becoming more active in the learning process and finding it easier to understand the material taught.

Abstract

This study aims to improve students’ mathematical problem-solving skills through the implementation of the Missouri Mathematics Project (MMP) learning model. The background to this study is based on students’ low ability to solve problem-solving questions, as evidenced by the fact that only 27% of students achieved the required standard in the initial test. This study is a classroom-action-research (CAR) comprising two cycles, each cycle involving planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 30 Year 10 students at State Senior High School 1 Sipoholon. Data were collected through tests, observations, and interviews. The results showed an increase in the average problem-solving ability from 28.83 (29%) in the pre-test to 57.91 (58%) in Cycle I, and 85.5 (86%) in Cycle II, with N-Gain values of 0.396 (moderate) and 0.657 (high) respectively. In addition to cognitive improvements, the MMP also had a positive impact on students’ attitudes, such as discipline, self-confidence, independent learning, and active participation in discussions. This study demonstrates that the MMP learning model is effective in enhancing mathematical problem-solving skills whilst strengthening the quality of the mathematics learning process in the classroom

Abstract

This article examines the application of the spectral theorem for symmetric matrices in the modeling of linear dynamical systems. The study covers proofs of core properties of symmetrical matrices (real eigenvalues, orthogonality of eigenvectors associated with distinct eigenvalues, and orthogonal diagonalization), and applies these theoretical results to solve low-dimensional linear dynamical systems commonly found in vibration models and simple mechanical systems. In addition to theoretical proofs, the paper includes computational examples (2×2 and 3×3 systems), stability analysis via matrix spectra, and pedagogical implications for teaching linear algebra at the university level. The computational results show that the spectral theorem effectively predicts system behavior through eigenvalue signs: positive eigenvalues produce exponential divergence, while negative eigenvalues produce convergence to equilibrium. Visualization confirms that trajectories align with the dominant eigenvector direction, demonstrating the geometric significance of spectral decomposition. This study also highlights the pedagogical impact of integrating spectral analysis with computational tools, showing that visualization-supported explanations improve students’ conceptual understanding of eigenvalues, eigenvectors, and system stability. The approach supports deeper learning in university-level mathematics education.

Abstract

This study aims to compare the accuracy of solving a Three-Variable System of Liniear Equations (SLS) using the Gauss method manually and with the assistance of R software. A quantitative comparative design was employed, involving ten students from the Information Technology Study Program who solved the same SLE problem manually and using the soulve() function in R. Data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test at a 5% significance level to determine whether there was a significant difference between the two methods. The results show that the t-calculated value exceeds the t-table value, indicatinga significant different in accuracy. The use of R produced substantially higher accuracy due to the soulve() function’s optimized matrix computation, which minimizes arithmetic erros commonly found in manual calculation. These findings demonstrate that integrating R software into Liniear Algebra learning enhances student’s accuracy, efficiency, and conceptual understanding when solving three-variable SLEs.
