Abstract

The present study aims to promote self-knowledge and familial awareness among children, thereby facilitating their socialization. The objective is threefold: first, to enhance students' interest and motivation in the learning process; second, to assist them in recognizing their own selves; third, to encourage interaction and collaboration among students; and fourth, to provide a learning experience that is both educational and enjoyable. Conventional learning media is often regarded as less appealing to early childhood students. This study proposes the utilization of "Magic Bag" media as an interactive and innovative alternative. The "Magic Bag of Self and Family Identity" media is hypothesized to facilitate the implementation of the self-introduction process for grade 1 students at Al-Mubarok Islamic Elementary School in an effective, engaging, and memorable manner, thereby fostering the development of crucial social and emotional competencies. The findings of the research are as follows: Firstly, the development of the conventional-based "Magic Bag" learning media on self-identity and family material is systematic and structured in accordance with the stages of the development research model. Secondly, the conventional-based "Magic Bag" learning media is declared very valid with an average percentage level The material validation percentage was found to be 90.76%, while the media validation percentage was 92.30%. Furthermore, the "Magic Bag" learning media has been determined to be highly effective, with a student learning completeness percentage of 98.33% in a limited trial.

Abstract

Speaking skills are one of the important competencies in learning Indonesian in elementary schools. However, the results of observations in class IV A SDN Liwet II show that students' speaking skills are still low due to several internal and external factors. Some internal factors include: Lack of self-confidence, Lack of motivation and interest of students, Use of language structures that tend to be afraid of mistakes, etc. Some external factors, such as: Learning that is still too teacher-centered, Minimal speaking practice during Indonesian language learning, As well as the dominance of the use of regional languages. The research conducted provides a learning solution on the aspect of speaking skills through a role-play learning model based on the animated characters Upin & Ipin which is close and very relevant to the world of children, so it is expected to increase students' interest, confidence, and courage in speaking. This learning is designed interactively and contextually by implementing collaboration from interactions with peers which is expected to make students more active in practicing expressing opinions using good and correct Indonesian. The implementation of this role-play model is expected to be able to optimize students' speaking skills in elementary schools at this time.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Discovery Learning model in Civics Education (PPKn) learning as an effort to develop an understanding of democratic values in elementary school students. The approach used is a literature review by examining various research and relevant books over the past five years. The results of the study indicate that the application of the Discovery Learning model can enhance the understanding of democratic concepts through an active, explorative, and student-centered learning process. This model provides space for students to discover the meaning of democratic values on their own through hands-on learning experiences, group discussions, and reflective activities. Thus, Discovery Learning can be an effective alternative strategy for PPKn learning in fostering early awareness of democracy.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize the listening skills of fifth-grade students at SDN Gubeng 1 Surabaya through the application of gamification in Indonesian language learning. The background of this study stems from the low level of attention, motivation, and learning outcomes of students in conventional listening activities. The research used a one-group pretest-posttest pre-experimental design involving 25 students as research subjects. Data were collected through listening tests, participation observations, and documentation. The results showed a significant increase after the application of gamification. The average pretest score of 57.76 increased to 74.60 on the posttest, with an N-Gain value of 0.3987 (moderate category). The paired sample t-test yielded t = 12.6377 and a p-value < 0.05, which means there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. In addition, student active participation increased from 60% to 85% after the implementation of gamification elements such as points, badges, challenges, and the “Simon Says” game. These findings indicate that gamification is effective in improving listening skills while encouraging student engagement and motivation to learn.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in lower grades still faces various challenges, particularly in column addition and subtraction, as many students have not yet fully understood place value concepts. This study aimed to examine the effect of using the Pajar Jurang learning media on second-grade students’ understanding of column arithmetic operations. This research employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design and was conducted in a second-grade elementary school classroom. The research subjects consisted of 15 students, and the entire population was used as the sample through a census technique. Data were collected using learning achievement tests administered before and after the implementation of the Pajar Jurang media. Data analysis involved calculating learning mastery percentages, N-Gain scores, and conducting a paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant improvement in students’ understanding, indicated by an increase in learning mastery for subtraction from 46.67% to 93.33% and for addition from 40% to 86.67%. The N-Gain values fell within the moderate to high categories, and the t-test results revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. These findings indicate that the Pajar Jurang media is effective in improving students’ understanding of column arithmetic operations and has strong potential for use in lower-grade mathematics instruction.

Abstract

Bullying in schools is an educational issue that has a serious impact on character building, mental health, and the quality of human resources. This phenomenon shows that schools have not been fully successful in carrying out their function as a space for the internalization of social ethics and human values. This article aims to analyze the forms and dynamics of bullying in schools, understand bullying as an indicator of the failure of social ethics internalization, and examine its implications for the quality of human resources. This study uses the systematic literature review (SLR) method with a PRISMA approach to relevant national and international scientific articles published in the last five years. The results show that bullying occurs in various forms, including verbal, relational, and digital, which are influenced by power relations, school culture, and weak character education. Bullying also reflects a low respect for human dignity and social justice values in educational practices. These findings confirm that bullying has long-term implications for the quality of human resources through disruptions to the character, social competence, and mental health of students. Therefore, strengthening character education and social ethics in an integrated manner is an important strategy in preventing bullying and developing sustainable human resources.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop and validate a Sustainable Ecological Cultural Learning (SECL) model integrated with indigenous values for elementary education. The model was designed to address the limited integration of ecological sustainability and cultural literacy in elementary school learning while supporting culturally responsive and sustainability-oriented education. This study employed a research and development approach using the ADDIE framework, focusing on the analysis, design, and development stages, with evaluation limited to expert-based validity testing. The SECL model was validated by experts in elementary education, environmental education, and cultural studies using a structured validation instrument with a four-point Likert scale. The validation results indicate that the SECL model achieved an overall mean validity score of 3.53 out of 4.00, categorized as very valid. High validity scores were obtained across key aspects, including integration of indigenous values (M = 3.70), relevance to sustainable education principles (M = 3.60), and alignment with elementary student characteristics (M = 3.55). These findings demonstrate that the SECL model is conceptually sound, feasible, and appropriate for elementary education contexts. The validated model provides a solid foundation for further classroom implementation and effectiveness testing in future studies.
