Abstract

This article discusses the importance of trademarks and geographical indications in the business world, especially in the context of marketing, consumer protection, and producer reputation building. Trademarks serve as a marker that distinguishes one producer's goods or services from another, while geographical indications indicate the geographical origin of a good that has a special quality or reputation due to environmental factors. Legal protection of geographical indications aims to prevent misuse of geographical names by unauthorized parties, protect original producers, and preserve culture and traditional knowledge. This research uses normative legal methods to examine the legal principles underlying the importance of regulating trademarks and geographical indications. This research uses a study of primary legal materials from legislation and secondary legal materials from related literature. The results show that legal protection of geographical indications provides significant benefits, including product identification, protection from fraudulent competition, quality assurance, increased production, and preservation of culture and natural beauty. It also plays a role in enhancing the reputation of products and regions, which has a positive impact on local economic development. In addition, this protection not only provides economic benefits to the region, but also provides assurance to consumers about the quality of the product. Therefore, legal protection of geographical indications is a crucial step in maintaining the quality, reputation and sustainability of superior products from various regions in Indonesia.

Abstract

Cultural differences can affect communication in general, making it difficult to reach a solution. Cultural differences can make communication difficult due to misunderstandings between individuals. People who have just moved from their home environment will find it difficult to adapt if they are not used to the changes. Cultural differences in the workplace lead to differences in the way ideas, perceptions and everyday behaviours are communicated. This also means that there are differences in intercultural communication strategies. If the communication strategy used is appropriate, the communication that takes place in the work environment will be more effective. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with the object of research being DPW PKB Lampung Province. The research subjects are DPW PKB employees from Lampung, Java, Sunda and Semendo ethnic groups. The data collection techniques used are observation, in-depth interviews, documentation and literature review. Furthermore, the research data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model as a guide for data processing.  The results of this study, namely DPW PKB Lampung Province employees, show that students are aware of the importance of effective communication strategies in intercultural interactions. Some informants have implemented some elements of Steve Carteledge's communication strategy in their communication practices with other tribes, such as planning, adaptation, and strategy development. However, some informants still need to increase their awareness or knowledge of best practices in intercultural communication.

Abstract

Data-driven education management is an advanced breakthrough that enables educational institutions to collect, analyse and utilise information to improve the decision-making process and the quality of learning. This study was conducted using the literature review method. The results show that data can help educators identify students' strengths and weaknesses and design appropriate interventions for individual needs. In addition, data analysis also makes it easier for educational institutions to manage budget allocations, teacher assignments and curriculum planning based on facts and details. However, the implementation of data-driven education management is not free from obstacles. One of the main obstacles is the lack of adequate technology infrastructure, especially in remote areas or in schools with limited budgets. Many educational institutions do not have the hardware and software needed to collect and analyse data efficiently. In addition, the lack of skills and knowledge of educators and administrative staff in the use of data analysis tools is also a significant obstacle. This often leads to resistance to change due to the added burden of new technology that has not been properly recognised. Another important challenge is the issue of data security and privacy. The collection and storage of sensitive student data requires strict security systems to prevent information leakage and data misuse. Educational institutions must ensure that they adhere to strict data security standards and rules, and utilise advanced encryption technologies to protect students' personal data. In addition, the integration of data from various sources and changes in organisational culture require the adaptation of new work processes and the collaboration of all parties involved. Through effective co-operation between the government, educational institutions and the private sector, these challenges can be overcome so that the implementation of data-driven education management can be more successful and provide optimal benefits in improving the quality of education.

Abstract

Government policy in the telecommunications industry is aimed at ensuring economic efficiency by regulating tariffs, spectrum management, and encouraging fair competition. These regulations are important because they prevent market domination by foreign companies, such as those regulated in the rules regarding share ownership by foreign investors with certain limits. The study conducted in this research used the literature research method. The results show that first, well-designed regulations can increase economic efficiency by keeping tariffs affordable, optimising spectrum usage, and encouraging healthy competition among companies. Second, overly strict or bureaucratic regulations can slow innovation and infrastructure investment, which in turn can hinder the growth and efficiency of the telecommunications industry. Third, excessive regulation can have negative impacts, such as lengthening the licensing process and reducing companies' incentives to invest in research and development. On the other hand, the absence of adequate regulation can trigger anti-competitive practices and market abuse, which also adversely affect economic efficiency. Thus, it is important to find the right balance in regulation such as being strict enough to maintain fairness and transparency, but also flexible enough to allow for innovation and quick responses to technological change.

Abstract

Corruption has been proven to weaken democracy, hinder access to justice, and undermine fairness and equality in society. Despite efforts to combat corruption, the global Corruption Perception Index (CPI) remains concerningly low, with Indonesia's CPI score stagnating at 34. A significant challenge in Indonesia's fight against corruption is the lack of criminalization of specific corrupt practices, such as illicit enrichment. Illicit enrichment, defined under Article 20 of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC), involves the significant increase in the assets of a public official that cannot be reasonably explained by lawful income. This research explores the harmonization of Pancasila principles with the formulation of illicit enrichment offenses to strengthen Indonesia's anti-corruption framework. This research utilizes normative legal methods by adopting statutory, conceptual, comparative, approaches. The nature of this research is descriptive-prescriptive. The data that has been collected is analyzed using the content analysis method. The analysis reveals that Indonesia's stagnation in the CPI score reflects deep-rooted systemic issues, including inadequate enforcement of anti-corruption laws and lack of transparency. The absence of specific legal provisions targeting illicit enrichment allows corrupt officials to amass unexplained wealth without facing legal repercussions. Aligning anti-corruption measures with Pancasila principles, such as justice, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice, is essential. These principles support the need for stringent asset declaration regulations, transparency, and accountability. Criminalizing illicit enrichment would enhance legal frameworks, close loopholes, and promote integrity in public service. By integrating Pancasila values into anti-corruption legislation, Indonesia can create a more just, transparent, and equitable society.
