Abstract

The concept of wahdah al-wujud Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 AD) and the concept of Al-Hikmah Al-Muta'aliyah Mulla Sadra (1571-1640 AD) are the most important contributing concepts in metaphysical thought in Islam. Hence, it is also important to understand these two concepts to study both the concept of essence and existence as a basis for understanding. The purpose of this study has objectives, namely (1) to know the concept of essence and existence from the perspective of Ibn Arabi. (2) to know the concept of essence and existence of Mulla Sadra's perspective. (3) to know the meeting point and the point of difference in the concept of essence and existence of both. The method used to explore this literature study by examining the work of the two figures, namely Ibn Arabi's work entitled “Futûhât al-Makkiyah” with Mulla Sadra's work entitled “Al-Asfar al-Arbaà” as a primary source and several related articles relevant to the topic discussed with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study are three, namely (1) according to Ibn Arabi (1165-1240 AD), existence is the form of essence, so that existence precedes essence. So, if something has existence then something has essence. But the opposite also applies. (2) According to Mulla Sadra, essence is the overall picture of reality or objects that exist in the mind; and existence is the objective reality outside the mind. (3) The concepts of essence and existence according to Ibn Arabi and Mulla Sadra have common ground in defining the concepts of essence and existence and also in comparing the concepts of essence and existence.

Abstract

The essence of the science of Balaghah has been ingrained in the Arabic language to achieve creativity in both poetry and other literary forms. Al-Khuli in his book "Manahij Tafsir" explains that the many links between Egypt and Balaghah form an intense interrelationship. This article seeks to uncover the forms of a historical overview of Egypt and its influence on the science of Balaghah. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method through the main source of Amin al-Khuli's book "Manahij Tajdid fi al-Nahw wa al-Balaghah wa al-Tafsir wa al-Adab" and some relevant articles. In analyzing the data, researchers went through several stages, namely; identification, categorization, concept-historical content analysis, and ended with interpretation-validation. The results of this article reveal that: 1) Egypt has a strong character both in terms of geographical and social ideals. 2) Egypt became the foothold of prominent Balaghah figures who came from various regions. 3) There are two schools in Balaghah namely kalamiyyah and adabiyyah. 4) Egypt had a huge impact on the development of Arabic literature, which the Egyptians themselves put their literary knowledge as a form of dedication and love of harmony, as well as a form of devotion to the Qur'an. The above points summarize that Balaghah and Egypt have a close relationship that is inseparable in terms of history. Abstrak Esensi ilmu Balaghah telah mandarah daging dalam bahasa Arab untuk mencapai kreativitas baik puisi maupun bentuk sastra lainnya. Al-Khuli dalam kitabnya “Manahij Tafsir” menjelaskan bahwa banyak keterkaitan antara Mesir dan Balaghah membentuk interelasionalitas yang intens. Artikel ini ingin mencoba mengungkap bentuk-bentuk tinjauan historis mengenai Mesir dan pengaruhnya terhadap ilmu Balaghah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif melalui sumber utama kitab karya Amin al-Khuli berjudul Manahij Tajdid fi al-Nahw wa al-Balaghah wa al-Tafsir wa al-Adab, dan beberapa artikel relevan. Dalam menganalisa data, peneliti melewati beberapa tahapan yaitu; identifikasi, kategorisasi, analisis konten konsep-historis, dan diakhiri dengan interpretasi-validasi. Hasil artikel ini mengungkap bahwa: 1) Mesir memiliki tabiat kuat baik dari segi keidealan secara geografis dan sosial. 2) Mesir menjadi pijakan tokoh-tokoh Balaghah terkemuka yang berasal dari berbagai wilayah. 3) Terdapat dua aliran dalam Balaghah yaitu kalamiyyah dan adabiyyah. 4) Mesir memiliki dampak yang sangat besar bagi perkembangan sastra Arab, yang mana orang-orang Mesir sendiri meletakkan keilmuan sastranya sebagai bentuk dedikasi dan kecintaan pada keharmonian, juga bentuk pengabdian pada al-Qur’an. Berbagai poin di atas menjadi rangkman, bahwa Balaghah dan Mesir memiliki hubungan erat yang tak terpisahkan dari sisi sejarahnya.

Abstract

The Al-Qur'an is the holy book of Muslims which is the first source of Islamic teachings that must be believed. In the process of its descent, it underwent many processes in which its decline occurred both because of the form of questions and the events that occurred. The Al-Qur'an was revealed to giving guidance to humans so that they can follow the path of truth by upholding the principles of life based on faith in Allah and also informing them of things that have passed, current events and those that will come. At first most of the Qur'an was revealed for general purposes but during the time of Rasulullah SAW and his companions they witnessed many historical events as well as special events as well as questions about law so that they required firmness and asked for detailed explanations about religious matters so several verses were revealed from Al-Qur'an to answer questions that arise, this is what is meant by Asbabun Nuzul... Researchers realize how important the Al-Qur'an is for Muslims, so the Al-Qur'an is not just for reading and understanding its meaning. but we also have to know the reasons why the verses in the Koran were revealed by Allah SWT. In research on Asbabun Nuzul in the Qur'an, we will discuss various things related to Asbabun Nuzul, including the meaning of Asbabun Nuzul, its types and divisions, rules, specifications and the benefits of studying Asbabun Nuzul as well as the philosophical implications of Asbabun Nuzul in Qur'anic sciences. Abstract

The presence of this article aims to review the concept of Islamic education thought initiated by the Islamic scholar Ibn Sina. Departing from modernization which brought the pace of Islamic education to progress and continue to develop, which is also inseparable from the ideas that support the course of the learning and teaching process, one of which is the concept of Ibn Sina's Islamic education methodology. This paper uses the literature study method, by examining the manuscript or text related to the title taken. The results of this study reveal that the Islamic education methodology described by Ibn Sina has an adequate level of relevance in the development of Islamic education starting from objectives, curriculum, learning methods, and the concept of the ideal teacher initiated by Ibn Sina. Apart from that, the most important part is integrating religious and general sciences so that there is no scientific dichotomy. The practice of studying religion and general sciences must be balanced to provide broad insights for students in developing their potential and leading to the attainment of worldly happiness and throws. So that the concept of a perfect human in Ibn Sina's view is realized.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi yang semakin canggih adalah sebuah tantangan bagi para mufassir untuk tetap memberi pemahaman dan penerapan ajaran al-Qur’an dan hadits dalam kehidupan kontemporer karena dengan kecanggihan teknologi kemampuan seseorang dalam memahami al-Qur’an dan hadits mulai berkurang. Maka menjadi sangat penting untuk memahami apa saja tantangan yang akan dihadapi dalam memahami dan menerapkan al-Qur’an dan hadits di kehidupam kontemporer. Tujuan Penelitian ini memilik dua yaitu (1) untuk mengetahui tantangan dalam memahami ajaran al-Qur’an dan hadits dalam kehidupan kontemporer (2) untuk mengetahui tantangan menerapkan ajaran al-Qur’an dan hadits dalam kehidupan kontemporer. Metode yang digunakan untuk mengali hal tersebut dengan studi kepustakaan yang analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil kajian ini ada dua yaitu (1) Tantangan dalam memahami ajaran al-Qur’an dan hadits di antaranya tantangan kontekstual (seperti isu gender dan globalisasi), tantangan interpretatif (seperti hukum Islam, kemajuan sains dan teknologi serta pluralisme agama) dan tantangan perubahan sosial. (2) tantangan dalam menerapkan ajaran al-Qur’an dan hadits dalam kehidupan kontemporer ada tiga yaitu tantangan modernitas, tantangan teknologi, dan tantangan globalisasi.

Abstract

Studies in Qur'an translation projects today focus on translation projects by government institutions and individuals, even though non-government institutions also contribute to Qur'an translation projects in Indonesia. This article discusses the production of the translation of the Qur'an by the Islamic University of Indonesia (UII), namely "Al-Qur'an Karim and its Meaning Translation" as a response to the translation of the Qur'an by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This article focuses on the reasons for the translation of the Qur'an by UII and the relationship between its formation and the translation of MoRA. This article also seeks to examine the extent of changes in the shift between the translation of the Qur'an of MoRA and UII. This research is a literature study based on library data related to the object of this study. Technically, the limited availability of the Qur'an from the Ministry of Religious Affairs gives rise to the translation of the UII Qur 'an. On the other hand, the UII translation was born as a more scientific, scientific, and multipurpose translation in response to verses that seemed to be masculine and discriminatory bias in the translation of MoRA which was translated harfiyah. The shift in differences between the Ministry of Religion Translation and UII Translation lies in the use of tafsiriyah UII translation methods and their reference sources which involve the use of literature on the essence of scientific polemics, resulting in differences in the results of translation. Meanwhile, in terms of publication format, layout,  text writing standards, and translation structure, it can be said that UII translations follow the standards of MoRA in contemporary editions.

Abstract

Discussion on the tradition of Pesantren is critical and needs to be studied in more depth. This is because the study never ceases to be debated both from the historical side and its characteristics. This goal aims to understand three things: First, the existence of students viewed from the point of historicity through the study of the sociology of religion in Indonesia. Second, the paradigm of the concept of barakah is rooted in the world of Pesantren. Third, understanding the concept of barakah that internalizes students to take action in tabarruk or ngalap berkah social practices. The method used is through a literature study approach, examining the texts of articles with similar themes based on the theory of symbolic interactionism. Data collection is carried out by selection, classification, and categorization. The results found three things: First, in the study of the sociology of religion, Santri is an essential element in the Indonesian subculture called Pesantren. The existence of Santri is the typical determinant of a Pesantren. Second, the concept of barakah that students understand is very diverse; some call it ziyādatul khoīr, the Grace of God, miracles, benefits, and an amulet. In this case, the variety of meanings is adjusted to each insight and experience of Santri in Pesantren. Third, the concept of ngalap berkah becomes a tradition in Pesantren as a form of social practice of Santri which starts from the understanding of each Santri. The term tabarrukan is divided into two parts, namely in the form of ta’zīm and sam’an wa thā’atan. The conclusion of this paper shows that these three aspects (santri, barakah, and ngalap berkah) are a unity that cannot be validated in forming a pesantren.

Abstract

Justice is a fundamental value recognised in various ethical and legal systems, including in Islam and Pancasila. The objectives of this study are (1) to find out the meaning of justice. (2) to know the concept of justice in Islamic Perspective. (3) to find out the concept of Justice in the Perspective of Pancasila. The method used to explore this is a literature study with qualitative descriptive analysis. The results of this study are three, namely (1) the meaning of justice from various languages including: Justice (English), al-adl' (Arabic), and Adil (Indonesian) (2) The concept of justice from an Islamic perspective is the concept of justice that comes from the Qur'an as the main foundation, this concept establishes haq and batil by verifying it through identification (taaruf), research (tabayyun), proof (shahadah), analysis and synthesis (dhikr) of Allah's verses that are plastered in every direction (including in humans and social reality), as well as the Qur'an, so that it is not mistaken in drawing conclusions. (3) justice in the perspective of Pancasila is justice that is the source of the framework of the five precepts in Pancasila, including: Deity, Humanity, National Unity, Consensus, and Social Justice.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in the development of human civilization, particularly during the Fatimid Dynasty, which ruled from 909 to 1171 AD. This dynasty is renowned for its efforts in establishing educational institutions such as Al-Azhar University, which is considered one of the oldest higher education institutions in the Islamic world and significantly impacted the development of knowledge in Egypt. This study aims to explore the contributions of education during the Fatimid era and its effects on the advancement of knowledge and Islamic culture. The research employs a library study method, allowing the researcher to compile and analyze various documented sources related to education in this period. The findings indicate that the strong support from the Fatimid Dynasty for the advancement of knowledge resulted in the establishment of educational institutions and progress in fields such as philosophy, hadith, fiqh, and linguistics. This research emphasizes the vital role of education in building Islamic civilization and how the educational policies of the Fatimid Dynasty contributed to the widely recognized development of knowledge within the Islamic community.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the ongoing debates surrounding France and Islam over the past decade, particularly the re-emergence of laïcité as a historical ideology rooted in the late 18th century. The research aims to examine how French citizens express their perspectives on issues related to Islam, Islamofobia, and Muslim identity through narratives on Twitter, and to analyze how the racialization and marginalization of laïcité are perceived comprehensively. Using tweet harvesting for data collection and analysis facilitated by MAXQDA, the study identifies key events in 2023 that sparked public discourse: the ban on the abaya in schools and the celebration of Hanukkah at the Presidential Palace. Analysis of tweet content reveals three primary groups of public opinion: feminists (notably in the context of the abaya), nationalists who advocate for laïcité, and neutral humanists who, while often critical, also challenge the racialization of political actions. In addition to the frequent use of offensive language and calls for the exclusion of Muslims opposing government policies, secondary sources indicate tangible forms of racialization in society. These findings highlight that many view the Muslim population as outsiders, despite being born and raised in France.
