The sampling technique was carried out using a non-random sampling technique, namely the total sample. Data collection using surveys and interviews. The data that has been collected is then analyzed univariately and presented in the form of tables and graphs accompanied by narrative. From the research results, it can be concluded that the majority of GHPR cases occur in the 16-44 year age group and most of them are male. GHPR cases in Kendari City in 2024 with the highest incidence occurring in October, January and June, while the lowest GHPR cases occurred in March.

Abstract

Substance abuse has remained a serious concern to the individual, the family, and society. Of particular concern is the involvement of secondary school students in substance abuse. Studies have investigated different predictors of substance abuse with varied results. Therefore, this study examines the predictive roles of self-esteem and peer influence on substance abuse among secondary school students in Lafia Local Government Area (LGA) of Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Cross-sectional survey design was adopted while purposive sampling technique was used to select Lafia LGA. Data were conveniently collected from 414 participants using validated questionnaires and analyzed using multiple regression and independent samples t-test. Two hypotheses were tested and accepted at p <.05 level of significance. The result revealed that self-esteem and peer influence jointly predicted substance abuse among study participants, R2= .037, F (3, 407) = 5.28, p < .05. In addition, self-esteem (ß = .20, p < .05) and peer influence (ß = .19, p < .05) independently predicted substance abuse among study participants. Finally, participants high in peer influence reported significantly higher substance abuse (= 23.67, SD= 12.55) compared to participants with low peer influence (= 19.10, SD = 12.78). The study concludes that self-esteem and peer influence are excellent predictors of substance abuse among study participants. The study recommends that parents should provide an enabling environment for their children to develop positive self-esteem while the school authority and other stakeholders should design and implement programs to educate students on the danger of substance abuse to their life and future career.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the structure of binary oppositions, mitemes, and myths within the pamali (taboo) expressions of the Tolotang community in Otting Village through the perspective of Lévi-Strauss’s Structural Anthropology. Using a descriptive qualitative method, the researcher analyzes expressions that reflect the collective mindset of the Tolotang community in organizing their social and spiritual realities. The results indicate that pamali expressions operate through six primary categories of binary opposition: healthy vs. sick, lucky vs. unlucky, polite vs. impolite, safe vs. dangerous, clean vs. dirty, and respectful vs. disrespectful. The miteme analysis identifies narrative relations covering aspects of behavior, fate, eating, illness, sleep, and death, which systematically construct myths of illness, fate, and death. These findings confirm that pamali functions as a social control system and a manifestation of a collective logic that maintains stability and harmony between individuals, society, and the spiritual world. The hierarchical social structure of the Tolotang community reinforces adherence to this oral tradition to consistently ensure the continuity of moral values and communal ethics.

Abstract

The KIA (Motherhood and Child Health) Clinic is the spearhead of health services because it is the primary place for interaction between pregnant women and health workers, both for examinations, education, and counseling. Therefore, health promotion media needs to be managed in a planned manner to optimally convey messages. This study aims to analyze the management of health promotion media in the KIA Clinic using a descriptive qualitative method. Six informants were selected through purposive sampling, consisting of health promotion officers, heads of community health centers, KIA clinic officers, and patients. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews, recording, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that health promotion media management has been running quite well. The product aspect includes the use of leaflets, posters, and flipcharts in accordance with guidelines, but is still dominated by print media. The price aspect is relatively affordable, although budget constraints affect media variation. The place aspect is considered strategic through placement in waiting rooms and direct distribution and utilization of integrated health posts (Posyandu) and social media. The promotion aspect is carried out through lectures, counseling, and questions and answers, although obstacles still exist. In conclusion, health promotion media management is quite effective, but requires optimization of digital media and innovation in outreach strategies.

Abstract

This study provides a syntactic analysis of passive constructions in the Amanuban dialect of Uab Meto, an Austronesian language spoken in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. Using a qualitative descriptive method, data were collected from four native speakers through elicitation tasks involving active–passive pair transformations. The analysis reveals that passive voice in Amanuban Uab Meto is encoded exclusively through word-order rearrangement without any morphological marking on the verb. Active clauses follow an SVO order, while passive clauses exhibit a rigid S (patient) – O (agent) – V pattern. The agent is syntactically obligatory, and tense/aspect features are hosted on the agent phrase rather than on the verb. Ditransitive constructions allow promotion of the direct object to subject. These findings indicate that the passive in this dialect is a purely syntactic phenomenon driven by constituent reordering. The study contributes to the typology of voice systems in Austronesian languages and provides documentation of an underdescribed dialect.
