Abstract

Islamic thought has always evolved in line with the social, political, and cultural dynamics of humanity. Modernity, with all its challenges, such as secularization, globalization, science, democracy, and human rights, demands that Islamic thought continue to engage in ijtihad and reinterpretation. This article aims to analyze the development of Islamic thought in response to modernity, both in historical and contemporary contexts. The method used is a literature review through a review of classical and modern literature. The results show that Islamic thought has undergone significant transformations, from the classical era, through the Middle Ages, to the modern era, displaying various styles: traditionalist, reformist, and neo-modernist.

Abstract

Pendidikan Islam memegang peran krusial dalam membentuk karakter, nilai, dan arah perkembangan umat Islam di tengah dinamika global yang terus berubah. Reformasi pendidikan Islam menjadi suatu keniscayaan di era modern, di mana nilai-nilai tradisional perlu disinergikan dengan tuntutan zaman seperti literasi digital, pemikiran kritis, dan kompetensi abad ke-21. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis urgensi, pendekatan, dan tantangan reformasi pendidikan Islam sebagai fondasi bagi pembangunan peradaban modern yang berlandaskan nilai-nilai spiritual, moral, dan intelektual. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif melalui studi literatur terhadap karya-karya kontemporer dan dokumen kebijakan pendidikan Islam dalam lima tahun terakhir. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa reformasi yang efektif mencakup rekonstruksi kurikulum integratif, penguatan kapasitas guru, penerapan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran, serta pengembangan kelembagaan yang adaptif dan visioner. Reformasi pendidikan Islam tidak hanya menjadi kebutuhan internal umat, tetapi juga kontribusi strategis terhadap pembangunan peradaban global yang lebih berkeadaban, adil, dan berkelanjutan.

Abstract

The modernization of traditional Islamic education systems, particularly pesantren, has become a significant phenomenon in responding to the development of science and technology in the era of globalization. This study aims to analyze the integration of science and technology curricula within the pesantren education system, focusing on its benefits, challenges, and forms of resistance. The research employs a literature review method, examining various studies, previous research findings, and curriculum documents from both modern and traditional pesantren. The findings indicate that the integration of science and technology provides significant benefits, including enhancing students’ competitiveness, expanding 21st-century competencies, and strengthening the relevance of pesantren amid changing times. However, this modernization process faces several challenges, such as limited human resources, resistance from some groups concerned about the loss of classical pesantren scholarly identity, and infrastructural constraints. Resistance also emerges in the form of selective attitudes by kyai regarding the inclusion of science and technology content to ensure alignment with Islamic values.

Abstract

Classical Islamic political thought represents an intellectual legacy that emerged from the Muslim community’s struggle to manage power, law, and society from the era of the Khulafāʾ al-Rāsyidīn to the dynastic periods. Concepts such as shūrā (consultation), justice, and imāmah (leadership) serve as normative foundations for governance from an Islamic perspective. This article aims to examine the key ideas of classical Islamic political thought and analyze their relevance to the modern democratic system. The research employs a library study method with a historical-philosophical analytical approach. The findings indicate that the principle of shūrā aligns closely with participatory democracy, although it differs in theological foundations. Moreover, the classical scholars’ notions of social justice and leadership accountability remain highly relevant to contemporary governance. Thus, classical Islamic political thought should not be viewed merely as a historical doctrine but as an ongoing source of inspiration for developing a more ethical and just form of democracy.

Abstract

The film Sore: Istri dari Masa Depan tells the story of a woman named Sore, the wife of a man named Jo, who travels back into Jo’s past with the intention of improving his life. This study seeks to analyze the contradictions in marital relationships as represented in the film through Ferdinand de Saussure’s semiotic analysis and Baxter and Montgomery’s relational dialectics theory. The research focuses on how Sore’s efforts to transform Jo into a “better” person create tensions with Jo’s desire to preserve his personal freedom. The novelty of this study lies in combining Saussure’s semiotic framework with relational dialectics theory, providing a more comprehensive understanding of relational dynamics as represented in film. The findings reveal that semiotic analysis uncovers signs and meanings in several key scenes, including the imposition of lifestyle changes, negotiations over smoking and alcohol consumption, and the eventual realization of acceptance within the relationship. Furthermore, the resolution of relational tensions is achieved through segmentation and integration strategies, which serve as the main approaches to managing contradictions via neutralization, reframing, and disqualification.

Abstract

The coastal community of Indragiri Hilir, Riau, heavily depends on fishery resources as their main livelihood and a pillar of local economic resilience. However, excessive exploitation, degradation of coastal ecosystems, and climate change threaten the sustainability of fishery resources in this region. This study aims to analyze the existing management conditions of fisheries and formulate sustainable management strategies that can strengthen the economic resilience of the coastal community. The research method employs a qualitative and quantitative approach through field surveys, in-depth interviews with fishers and stakeholders, as well as secondary data analysis related to fishery production and the socio-economic conditions of the community. The results indicate that overfishing, mangrove habitat destruction, and weak regulatory enforcement are primary challenges in managing fisheries in Indragiri Hilir. Recommended strategies include the implementation of marine conservation zones, strengthening fisher institutions, diversifying businesses based on sustainable fisheries such as environmentally friendly aquaculture and marine ecotourism, and enhancing community capacity through training and access to capital. Integrating local wisdom with ecosystem-based approaches is key to successful sustainable management. Sustainable fisheries management not only ensures the long-term availability of resources but also improves the income and welfare of coastal communities. This study is expected to serve as a reference for local governments and stakeholders in formulating adaptive and inclusive fishery management policies to achieve resilient and sustainable economic security for coastal communities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning interest and learning motivation on the learning outcomes of Social Studies (IPS) among eighth-grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Siantar in the 2024/2025 academic year. This research employed a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis. The population consisted of 91 students of grade VIII, while the sample included 91 students selected using random sampling. The instruments used were questionnaires on learning interest and learning motivation, which were tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination (R²) with the aid of SPSS 26. The results showed that: (1) learning interest has a positive and significant effect on IPS learning outcomes with tcount 5.504 > ttable 1.987 and significance value 0.000 < 0.05; (2) learning motivation has a positive and significant effect on IPS learning outcomes with tcount 9.065 > ttable 1.987 and significance value 0.000 < 0.05; (3) learning interest and motivation simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on IPS learning outcomes with Fcount 159.485 > Ftable 3.100 and significance value 0.000 < 0.05. The coefficient of determination (R²) was 0.720, meaning that learning interest and motivation contributed 72% to IPS learning outcomes, while the remaining 28% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of learning motivation and discipline on student learning outcomes in Economics for Grade XI students at SMA Negeri 5 Pematangsiantar, Academic Year 2025/2026. This research is quantitative and uses descriptive methods. The study population comprised 11 classes with 178 students. Sampling was conducted using proportional random sampling, resulting in a sample size of 64 students. Data were collected through questionnaires for the variables of learning motivation and learning discipline, as well as tests as indicators of learning outcomes in economics subjects. Data analysis techniques used include simple linear regression tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, F-tests, and coefficients of determination. The results of the analysis show that there is a positive and significant influence of learning motivation on student learning outcomes with (t count = 2.195> t table = 1.669) and there is a positive and significant influence of learning motivation on student learning outcomes with (t count = 1.784> t table = 1.669). The results of the F test show that simultaneously both variables have a significant effect on student learning outcomes (F count = 9.2> F table = 3.15). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.429 indicates that 42.9% of the variation in student learning outcomes is influenced by learning motivation and learning discipline, while the remaining 57.1% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of learning discipline and learning motivation on the economics learning outcomes of grade XI students at SMA Negeri 2 Pematangsiantar. This study employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The research population consisted of 10 classes with a total of 335 students. The sample of 89 students was selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires for the variables of learning discipline and motivation, and tests as indicators of students’ learning outcomes in economics. Data analysis techniques included simple linear regression, multiple linear regression, t-test, F-test, and coefficient of determination. The results of the analysis indicated that learning discipline had a positive and significant effect on students’ learning outcomes (tcount = 3.153 > ttable = 1.987), and learning motivation also had a positive and significant effect (tcount = 5.177 > ttable = 1.987). The F-test revealed that both variables simultaneously had a significant influence on students’ learning outcomes (Fcount = 101.8 > Ftable = 3.10). The coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.61 indicated that 61% of the variation in students’ learning outcomes was influenced by learning discipline and motivation, while the remaining 39% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study.

Abstract

International trade today is no longer solely influenced by classical factors such as product quality and production costs, but also by global macroeconomic dynamics, particularly exchange rate fluctuations and interest rate changes. Indonesia’s export industry is highly vulnerable to these uncertainties, which requires sustainable strategies to maintain competitiveness. This study aims to answer the main research question: how can digital transformation serve as an effective strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of Indonesia’s export industry amid exchange rate volatility and interest rate fluctuations? The research employs a qualitative descriptive approach through a literature review, analyzing academic journals, reports from international financial institutions, and government publications. The findings reveal that digital transformation provides multiple advantages, including production efficiency, wider market access through digital platforms, improved supply chain transparency, and access to alternative non-conventional financing. These results highlight that digitalization is not merely a short-term solution, but rather a fundamental strategy to build sustainable competitiveness and adaptability for Indonesia’s export sector in the face of global economic uncertainty.
