Jurnal Pengabdian Masyarakat dan Riset Pendidikan is a journal on Faculty of Education. Abstract

This study compares bird diversity in rural areas (Taji and Juwiring Villages) and an urban area (Gergunung Subdistrict) in Klaten Regency. Observations were carried out using the point count method at 82 stations during morning and afternoon peak activity. Data were analyzed using the Shannon-Wiener diversity index and relative density. The results indicate that the urban area had moderate diversity (H’ = 1.89) supported by heterogeneous microhabitats and the presence of green open spaces. Conversely, the rural area showed low diversity (H’ = 0.96) with strong dominance of the Java Sparrow (>70% of individuals), reflecting homogeneous agricultural landscapes and low vegetation complexity. These findings highlight that habitat structure and quality play a more substantial role than rural–urban classification in shaping bird community composition. Enhancing vegetation complexity and habitat availability is essential to support sustainable bird populations across.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh tekanan pembangunan terhadap pola keanekaragaman tanaman buah serta memberikan gambaran ilmiah mengenai kondisi aktual biodiversitas tanaman buah pada dua tipe lanskap yang berbeda, yaitu lanskap pedesaan (Desa Taji, Kecamatan Juwiring) dan lanskap perkotaan di Kabupaten Klaten, Jawa Tengah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui metode wawancara semi-terstruktur dan pengamatan langsung keberadaan jenis tanaman buah di pekarangan rumah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan keanekaragaman tanaman buah di pedesaan lebih tinggi daripada di perkotaan. Pepaya (Carica papaya L.) memiliki nilai RCF tertinggi (0,5365), menandakan tanaman ini sangat didukung oleh kondisi ekosistem dan budaya masyarakat Klaten. Sementara itu, pisang (Musa paradisiaca) mencatatkan nilai UV tertinggi (0,3658) karena memiliki multifungsi sebagai bahan pangan, obat tradisional, bahan upacara adat, dan peneduh pekarangan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa konversi lahan dan perubahan gaya hidup perkotaan cenderung menurunkan keanekaragaman tanaman buah lokal.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of cultural symbols, symbolic meanings, and mythic narratives found in the traditional games of the Gorontalo community in Sukamaju Village, Boalemo Regency. The research focuses on understanding these games as a system of signs that reflects local worldviews, social values, and cultural identity. A descriptive qualitative method with a case study design was used, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of surviving games such as mongawuta, mokainje, mopondi, and mokalari. The analysis employs Roland Barthes’s semiotic theory, which categorizes meaning into denotation, connotation, and myth. The findings show that cultural symbols appear in natural materials used in the games, rules, movement patterns, and social interactions among players. Each game element represents life values, including balance, precision, patience, and cooperation, while also containing mythic narratives that help strengthen cultural id

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent to which students' belief in Pancasila as the state ideology influences their attitudes in rejecting radicalism. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach using a survey method through a Likert scale questionnaire given to 35 students of the Office Administration Education Study Program, Stambuk 2024, selected by simple random sampling. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression to see the relationship between the two variables. The results showed that students have a high level of belief in Pancasila and a strong attitude of rejection of radicalism. The R² value of 0.64 indicates that 64% of the variation in rejection of radicalism is influenced by the level of belief in Pancasila, with a positive and significant regression coefficient (sig. 0.000). This finding confirms that the stronger students' belief in the values ​​of Pancasila, the higher their assertiveness in rejecting various forms of radicalism that have the potential to threaten national unity.

Abstract

This study implemented an English learning programme that integrated expressions of agreement and disagreement with an anti-bullying theme to strengthen both speaking skills and students’ social attitudes. Using a descriptive qualitative design, the programme was carried out with 30 eleventh-grade students at a public senior high school. Data were collected through classroom observation, student worksheets, and a questionnaire completed by five purposively selected respondents. The results showed that approximately 97–98% of students demonstrated strong conceptual understanding of the target expressions, and although some initially hesitated to speak spontaneously, their confidence and polite communication improved during discussions on bullying cases. Students were able to identify types of bullying, describe their impacts, propose solutions, and express opinions in English using respectful expressions. Overall, the programme proved that English learning can support character development when connected to real-life social themes, helping students communicate politely while developing anti-bullying awareness.

Abstract

Self-care skills are fundamental abilities that support an individual’s independence in daily activities. Children with moderate intellectual disabilities often face challenges in performing self-care tasks, including toothbrushing, and therefore require structured guidance and training. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the total task chaining technique, supplemented with prompting, in improving toothbrushing skills in children with moderate intellectual disabilities. A single-subject research design with an A-B-A model was employed. The subject, MA, was an 8-year-old child with moderate intellectual disabilities who had limitations in self-care skills, particularly toothbrushing. The intervention was conducted over 14 sessions, guiding the subject to complete the entire sequence of toothbrushing steps in each session. Data were collected through observation of the toothbrushing behavior stages. The results indicated an improvement in toothbrushing skills following the intervention, with an N-gain score of 0.75, categorized as high. These findings suggest that the total task chaining technique, supplemented with prompting, is effective in enhancing toothbrushing skills in children with moderate intellectual disabilities, although ongoing parental guidance is recommended to ensure consistent behavior.

Abstract

Adolescents living in boarding schools face unique social dynamics, where intensive peer interactions may trigger social pressure and self-comparison. This study aims to examine the effect of peer pressure and social comparison on depressive tendencies among adolescents in Boarding School X. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design was used. The respondents were 165 students aged 13–18 years. Data collection instruments included adapted versions of the Peer Pressure Inventory (PPI), the Iowa-Netherlands Comparison Orientation Measure (INCOM), and the Beck Depression Inventory-II (BDI-II). Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that peer pressure and social comparison simultaneously had a significant effect on depression (F = 19.202, p < 0.001) with a 19.2% contribution. Partially, social comparison had a significant positive effect on depression (t = 4.645, p < 0.001), while peer pressure had a significant negative effect (t = –3.162, p = 0.002). These findings indicate that in the boarding school context, peer pressure serves as a protective factor, while social comparison increases the risk of depression.

Abstract

Applying reading corner at SD IT Al-Ikhlas Tlogowungu helps to raise student reading interest and understanding especially for nonfiction texts. Background reveals the low level of reading interest in Indonesia, where just one in five people reads regularly. Survey results revealed that many people still cannot read and write despite high literacy rates. Low reading interest hurts students' capacity to read nonfictional texts requiring structural analysis and understanding. The approach employed in this study is qualitative descriptive; data gathering methods include observation, interview, and documentation. Observasi is used to find out the state of the classroom; interviews with the head teacher, teachers, and students; and written relevant data is gathered through documentation. With the goal of improving students' book access and encouraging them to read more, the reading corner idea offers cozy and interesting space for reading inside the classroom. Studies show that the use of reading corner successfully raised students' understanding of nonfictional texts and their enthusiasm in reading. Students grow more active and enjoy reading, therefore their reading frequency also rises. This approach also helps students become more aware of the advantages of reading, therefore developing their capacity to interpret nonfictional texts.

Abstract

Stress in women facing infertility is often influenced by their ability to manage themselves emotionally, including through self-compassion, as well as by the quality of social support they receive, especially from their husbands. This study aims to analyze how the influence of social support from husbands on perceived stress in women experiencing infertility is mediated by self-compassion. Data were obtained from 390 women experiencing infertility using a self-compassion scale, a husband's social support scale, and a perceived stress scale. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the mediating effect. Based on the hypothesis proposed in this study, self-compassion has a significant effect in mediating the influence of husband's social support on perceived stress in women experiencing infertility. This is evidenced by the t-statistic value of the construct being 2.964 (>1.96) and the p-value being 0.003 (<0.05). This study provides an overview of how self-compassion can mediate the effect of husband's support on perceived stress in women experiencing infertility.

Abstract

The absence of a standardized instrument contextualized for Indonesian students was a primary problem motivating this research, which aimed to develop and validate the Mathematics Learning Motivation Scale (MLMS) for junior high school students. This study employed a systematic instrument development process. The scale was constructed based on a synthesis of motivation theories, specifically operationalizing four key aspects: choice of tasks, effort, persistence, and self-confidence. These aspects were formulated into 30 Likert-scale items. The validation method included content validity, which was established through expert judgment from two education experts, and construct validity. The subjects for the validation trial were 31 eighth-grade students from a junior high school in Boyolali. The primary instrument used was the 30-item MLMS questionnaire itself. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 22. The results from the Pearson product-moment correlation showed that all 30 items were valid, with each item's rcalculated score exceeding the rtable value of 0.355 at a 5% significance level. Furthermore, the reliability analysis reported a Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of 0.917, demonstrating very high internal consistency. It was concluded that the developed MLMS is a valid and highly reliable instrument, suitable for objectively measuring mathematics learning motivation in this specific student context.
