Abstract

Purpose –  This study aims to examine the effects of work motivation and career development on employee performance at the Customs and Tax Supervision and Services Office of Gresik District. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs an explanatory quantitative research design to analyze the relationship between independent variables, namely work motivation and career development, and the dependent variable, namely employee performance. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 25 to conduct statistical tests and measure the influence of the research variables. Findings – The results indicate that work motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Career development also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. These findings demonstrate that improving employee motivation and providing effective career development opportunities are important strategies for enhancing employee performance in government service organizations. Originality/Value This research is original in simultaneously analyzing work motivation and career development within a public-sector context. The findings provide practical value by offering evidence-based recommendations for improving employee performance through better managerial policies and career planning systems.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effects of work discipline, work motivation, and workplace environment on employee productivity at PT Guntner Indonesia. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs an explanatory quantitative research design. Data were collected through Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to 130 employees selected using simple random sampling. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS version 27 after conducting instrument tests, classical assumption tests, and statistical hypothesis testing to examine the relationships among the variables. Findings – The results indicate that work discipline has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity. Work motivation also has a positive and significant effect on employee productivity. Furthermore, the workplace environment positively and significantly influences employee productivity. These findings demonstrate that improving employee discipline, strengthening work motivation, and creating a supportive workplace environment can enhance workforce productivity in manufacturing organizations.   Originality/Value This research is original in simultaneously examining work discipline, motivation, and workplace environment in a single empirical model. The findings provide practical value by offering evidence-based recommendations for improving productivity through human resource management practices.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the business conditions of Toko Bangunan Arfillah, a building materials retailer in Nganjuk Regency, and to formulate strategic recommendations to strengthen competitiveness and support business development amid increasing competition in the construction industry. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs a qualitative research approach. Data were collected through interviews and direct observations of the company’s operations. The analysis focuses on identifying internal and external factors affecting business competitiveness, including financial conditions, market competition, and opportunities for business expansion. Findings – The results indicate that Toko Bangunan Arfillah has a relatively stable financial condition; however, intense competition among building materials retailers in Nganjuk Regency remains a major challenge. To address this challenge, expanding market reach through digital promotional channels, particularly social media, is recommended to increase brand visibility, attract customers, and improve business competitiveness. These strategies are expected to support sustainable business growth in the developing construction market. Originality/Value This research is original in focusing on business planning for a building materials store within a developing regional market context. The findings provide practical value by offering marketing and competitive strategies tailored to small retail businesses in the construction sector.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to analyze the influence of the marketing mix, consisting of promotion, price, product, and place, on consumer loyalty at Anik Frozen Food Purwodadi. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs a quantitative research approach. The population consists of Anik Frozen Food’s Instagram followers, with 100 respondents selected as the sample using a non-probability sampling technique. Data were collected through online questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 25. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied to examine the relationship between marketing mix variables and consumer loyalty. The research instruments were tested using validity and reliability tests, while classical assumption tests, including normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity tests, were conducted to ensure the validity of the regression model. Hypothesis testing was performed using the F-test and t-test, supported by the coefficient of determination (R²). Findings – The analysis reveals the extent to which promotion, price, product, and place influence consumer loyalty at Anik Frozen Food Purwodadi. The findings provide insights into the effectiveness of marketing mix strategies in strengthening customer relationships and improving competitiveness in the frozen food retail sector. Originality/Value This research is original in utilizing social media followers as the study population to evaluate marketing mix effectiveness. The findings provide practical value by guiding retailers in prioritizing promotional, pricing, product, and distribution strategies to enhance customer retention.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effects of innovation and market orientation on competitive advantage among culinary MSMEs in the snacks and cakes sector in Malang City. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs a quantitative research approach. The sample consisted of 100 culinary MSME owners in the snacks and cakes sector in Malang City selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS version 27. The research instruments were tested through validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests, followed by hypothesis testing using the F-test and t-test. Findings – The results indicate that innovation has a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage. Market orientation also has a positive and significant effect on competitive advantage. These findings suggest that culinary MSMEs can strengthen their competitive position by continuously developing innovative products and increasing their responsiveness to market needs and customer preferences. Originality/Value This research is original in empirically examining innovation and market orientation together as predictors of competitive advantage in the snack and cake MSME sector. The findings provide practical value by guiding entrepreneurs to improve innovation practices and market responsiveness to strengthen competitiveness.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop a business plan for the establishment of Roti Mom B&B in South Cikarang by evaluating business feasibility and formulating strategic approaches to support sustainable growth in the food and beverage industry. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs a descriptive qualitative research approach. Data were collected through observations and literature reviews. The business feasibility analysis focuses on five key aspects: product, marketing, operations, organization, and finance. These aspects were examined to identify business opportunities, challenges, and strategic development plans for the proposed physical store expansion. Findings – The results indicate that Roti Mom B&B has strong potential for market expansion due to consistent product quality and growing consumer demand. However, several challenges were identified, including limited human resources and insufficient digital marketing optimization. The proposed development strategies include strengthening operational systems, implementing targeted digital marketing strategies, and establishing a more structured organizational system. Based on the analysis, opening a physical store in South Cikarang is considered feasible and has the potential to increase revenue and strengthen market positioning. Originality/Value This research is original in integrating product, marketing, operations, organizational, and financial analyses into a comprehensive business plan for a start-up bakery café. The findings provide practical value by offering actionable strategies to optimize operational systems, digital marketing, and organizational structure for long-term business success.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the effects of job stress and workplace environment on employee performance at the Regional Development Planning Agency of East Java, with work-life balance serving as a mediating variable.   Design/methodology/approach – A quantitative explanatory research design was employed. Data were collected through questionnaires from 110 civil servants selected using purposive sampling from a population of 285 employees. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to examine both direct and indirect relationships among the variables.   Findings – The results indicate that job stress has a significant effect on employee performance, whereas the workplace environment has no direct effect on performance. Work-life balance positively influences employee performance and significantly mediates the relationships between job stress, workplace environment, and employee performance. These findings underscore the importance of managing job stress and promoting work-life balance to improve employee performance in public sector organizations. The study also suggests that organizations should implement stress management initiatives and foster a supportive work environment to achieve better performance outcomes.   Originality/Value This research is original in examining work-life balance as a mediating variable between job stress, workplace environment, and employee performance in a public-sector context. The findings provide practical value by offering data-driven recommendations for policymakers to design healthier and more productive work environments.

Abstract

Purpose – The objective of this research is to identify the needs and desires of customers of Cahya Alam construction material store as well as their satisfaction to each service attribute referring to the 7Ps marketing mix using Kano Model approach.   Design/methodology/approach – The data of this quantitative study was harvested from interviews and Likert-scaled questionnaires consisting of 22 functional and 22 nonfunctional statements. From the sample of customers of Cahya Alam, 120 of whom were selected as the sample through non-probability sampling method and purposive sampling technique. The data from the questionnaires were initially examined through validity and reliability tests in SPSS version 25.  Findings – The results were then analyzed utilizing the Kano Model, whose results indicate that attributes needing optimization are goods variations, discount availability, information availability for goods price via WhatsApp, more reliable and faster service process, and employees who position themselves as customer service staff.  Originality/value – This study uniquely integrates the Kano Model with the marketing mix to identify priority service attributes for improving customer satisfaction and competitiveness at Cahya Alam.

Abstract

Purpose–This study aims to enhance the business performance of Pecel Lesehan Pak Kasto by developing a human-centered marketing strategy that addresses evolving customer needs and expectations in the increasingly competitive culinary MSME sector. Design/Methodology/Approach–This research adopts a design thinking approach consisting of five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and testing. Through a human-centered perspective, customer insights were explored to identify expectations beyond functional food consumption and to formulate appropriate marketing strategies. Findings–The findings reveal that customers seek not only food but also meaningful culinary experiences. Based on these insights, the proposed marketing strategy focuses on strengthening brand identity, improving service quality, and creating distinctive culinary experiences. The implementation of this strategy enhances brand awareness, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty. The results also suggest that culinary MSMEs should continuously update their understanding of customer needs and adapt to changing consumer trends to maintain sustainable competitive advantages. Originality/Value–This study contributes to marketing literature by demonstrating the application of a human-centered design thinking framework in developing marketing strategies for a traditional culinary MSME. It provides practical value by showing how empathy-driven marketing strategies can strengthen customer relationships, improve business performance, and foster long-term competitiveness.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to develop a visual identity for Studio Grafikku, a graphic design service business, to strengthen brand awareness and improve customer recognition through a consistent and distinctive branding system. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study employs a descriptive qualitative research approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The Design Thinking method was applied to identify customer preferences and develop an appropriate visual identity design. The analysis focused on key branding elements, including logo, color, typography, brand name, and graphic elements, as well as their application across various branding media. Findings – The results show that Studio Grafikku requires a standardized visual identity to improve brand memorability and customer trust. The developed visual identity consists of a logo, color palette, typography, brand name, and supporting graphic elements that align with customer expectations. These elements were implemented across branding media, including social media platforms, websites, and advertisement videos, creating a more consistent and recognizable brand image. Originality/Value This research is original in applying a Design Thinking approach to develop a complete visual identity system for a local graphic design service brand. The findings provide practical value by offering a structured framework for improving brand awareness through cohesive visual branding strategies.
