Abstract

Lemongrass is a spice plant and was used by our ancestors as a cooking spice and to add a fragrant aroma to dishes. The content of secondary metabolite compounds in lemongrass can function as an antimicrobial and provide a refreshing fragrant aroma, so it can be used in organic soap. Apart from functioning as a cleanser, soap must also have added value, such as soap with added plant extracts, which has nutritional and nutritional value which is very necessary for the skin. Lemongrass extract added to soap making can help maintain skin by retaining skin moisture, helping the growth of new cells and preventing skin infections. This activity aims to increase the knowledge of PKK women in Kemumu Village, North Bengkulu Regency in making soap that is healthier and has added value. This program is a forum for socializing how to make healthy and natural products. Keywords : Kemumu, Organic Soap, Lemongrass Extract

Abstract

This socialization activity aims to enhance students' skills in producing solid soap enriched with citronella leaf extract (Cymbopogon nardus) as a form of contextual learning based on science and entrepreneurship. Citronella was chosen for its antibacterial properties and distinctive aroma, which add value to the soap product. The activity was conducted in a school environment, with students as the primary participants. The methods used included delivering materials on the benefits of citronella, extraction techniques, and the saponification process. The results of the socialization showed that students not only understood the basic chemistry theory behind soap-making but also successfully applied the techniques to produce solid soap with appropriate texture, fragrance, and quality. In addition to providing practical insights into chemistry, the activity also fostered students' creativity and entrepreneurial skills by introducing opportunities to develop natural product-based businesses. This activity serves as an effort to promote innovative and practical learning in schools while increasing students' awareness of the sustainable utilization of local resources.   Keywords: solid soap, citronella, Science-based learning, saponification

Abstract

Science education at the primary school level plays a crucial role in forming students' initial scientific understanding. However, chemistry learning is often constrained by limited facilities and concerns about the environmental impact of experiment waste. This community service program aims to address these issues through the implementation of a Zero-Waste Chemistry Class by applying safe, simple, and non-hazardous Green Chemistry-based experiments. The target of this activity was students of SD IT Tazkia Insani in Majalengka Regency. The methods included preparing simple experiment kits and guides (Making Milk Glue), socialization, mentoring, and evaluation using test instruments based on three OECD (2023) science literacy indicators. The program results show that the application of eco-friendly experiments was highly effective in enhancing overall science understanding, with 57.14% of students achieving the Very Good category and 42.86% achieving the Good category. Furthermore, the activity successfully fostered an understanding of eco-friendly chemistry awareness among students, with the Good category dominating (42.86%). This program is expected to be an innovative, meaningful, and sustainable science learning model, aligning with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) points 4 (Quality Education) and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Abstract

This community service activity aimed to enhance Indonesian language teachers’ understanding of digital literacy and the use of the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test (UKBI) Adaptive Digital as an instrument for strengthening literacy in schools. The activity was conducted at SMP Negeri 6 Bengkulu City on October 13, 2025, involving 27 teachers who are members of the Indonesian Language MGMP (Subject Teachers’ Forum) for junior high schools in Bengkulu City. The implementation consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. During the implementation stage, participants attended presentations on digital literacy concepts, the UKBI Adaptive Digital system, and engaged in interactive discussions on how to apply UKBI results in Indonesian language teaching. The results indicated that the teachers demonstrated high enthusiasm and improved understanding of the importance of digital literacy as well as the function of UKBI as an objective and nationally standardized tool for measuring language proficiency. This activity also succeeded in fostering teachers’ motivation to carry out follow-up actions, including simulations and the actual administration of UKBI in the next stage of the program. Thus, this program contributes to strengthening teachers’ professional capacity in addressing the challenges of Indonesian language teaching in the digital assessment era.
