Abstract

Objective: This community service program aimed to improve pregnant women’s oral health literacy through a structured educational and clinical intervention in Babadan Village, Ngancar District, Kediri Regency. Poor oral health during pregnancy has been associated with complications such as premature birth and low birth weight, yet awareness and access to dental care remain limited, especially in rural areas. This initiative responded to the high prevalence of untreated dental conditions and the persistence of local myths discouraging pregnant women from seeking dental treatment. Method: The intervention adopted a quantitative pre-experimental design, utilizing pre-test and post-test evaluations to measure knowledge change among participants. Educational sessions were conducted using culturally adapted visual media, combining lectures, discussions, and demonstrations to address the participants’ knowledge gaps. Clinical examinations followed, carried out by certified dentists in accordance with WHO diagnostic standards, to identify the prevalence of dental issues such as caries and gingivitis. Post-test assessments were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the educational approach. Results: Findings demonstrated a significant increase in average knowledge scores—from 55 before the intervention to 85 afterward—highlighting the success of the communication strategies and community-centered approach. Moreover, early indications of behavioral change were observed, such as participants expressing intent to seek routine dental care and adopt proper brushing techniques. This program not only addressed immediate health education needs but also laid a foundation for sustained improvements in maternal oral health practices. Novelty: This intervention model is scalable and adaptable for similar rural contexts, underscoring the critical role of health education in preventive maternal care and community empowerment.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of implementing the Social Inquiry Learning Model in shaping Islamic character among students at UMSIDA, particularly in the Ibadah, Akhlak, and Mu’amalah course. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the development of learning strategies that are relevant and impactful for Islamic character education at the tertiary level. Method: This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with an ethnographic research design to explore and evaluate the implementation of the Social Inquiry Learning Model in shaping Islamic character among university students. To achieve a comprehensive analysis, this study integrates two key frameworks: the CIPP evaluation model (Context, Input, Process, Product) and SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Results: The test results showed a significant mean difference of -2.302 with a standard deviation of 5.096 and a t-value of -27.112 (df = 35, p = 0.000), indicating a statistically significant improvement in students’ Islamic character after participating in learning activities using the Social Inquiry Model. On average, students' scores increased from 57.72 to 80.75. These activities foster critical thinking, empathy, and social responsibility, all of which are core components of Islamic character. Novelty: This model empowers students to become socially conscious individuals with strong moral integrity, which is essential for Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). It also prepares students with 21st-century competencies such as problem-solving, collaboration, and ethical leadership, which are crucial in the contemporary socio-cultural context.

Abstract

Objective: A clean, tidy classroom with adequate lighting and a cool, stable temperature will encourage students to focus and feel comfortable during the learning process. Room temperatures that are too hot or too cold can disrupt concentration, cause drowsiness, and even cause physical discomfort, which ultimately reduces learning effectiveness. Managing room temperature through good ventilation or optimal use of air conditioning is important. Additionally, a pleasant classroom environment—characterized by positive teacher-student relationships, the use of interactive learning methods, and a supportive emotional atmosphere—is essential. Method: The Waterfall Method is one of the linear and sequential methods used in system or project development. This method includes the initial observation and coordination stage, scheduling of AC cleaning activities, AC cleaning implementation, counseling and education, monitoring and evaluation, which must be completed before proceeding to the next stage, like a waterfall. Results: The classroom AC cleaning program has proven to have a positive impact on air quality and the comfort of the teaching and learning process. Comprehensive AC unit cleaning successfully reduced dust and dirt that could potentially harm the health of students and teachers. Novelty: Observations and questionnaires showed an increase in learning comfort and awareness of the importance of regular AC maintenance. The educational activities conducted also successfully fostered knowledge and awareness among teachers, staff, and students about the importance of maintaining a clean learning environment. This program is expected to serve as the first step in establishing a culture of regular school facility maintenance as a preventive measure to safeguard the health of school community members.

The methodology for implementing field visits to the use of livestock operational machinery at Indrapuri BPTU-HPT is carried out by holding field practicums on livestock operational machinery. Results: The study found that Indrapuri BPTU-HPT uses various types of livestock operational machines such as feed choppers, feed mixers, milkers, manure vacuum cleaners, and egg incubators to support livestock activities. The machines serve specific functions: the chopper cuts the greens, the mixer mixes the feed, the milker facilitates hygienic milking, and the manure vacuum cleaner cleans the cage. The use of these machines brings several advantages, including time efficiency, improved product quality, and labor reduction. However, challenges such as high costs, maintenance, and electricity dependence remain. These operational machines play a significant role in increasing productivity and efficiency by enabling faster feed provision and cleaner cages, which contribute to the improved purification of Aceh cattle and the overall quality of livestock feed at Indrapuri BPTU-HPT. Novelty: The development of livestock tools and machinery is advancing continuously. Therefore, students, in addition to studying on campus, need to gain practical experience in the field of animal husbandry. This helps them to better understand the use of tools and machinery, as well as to gain insights into livestock feed preservation and livestock care management. This hands-on learning through field visits provides students with valuable knowledge and skills that will prepare them for their future careers.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to develop processed kale products into snacks with high economic value in the form of kale jerky as an effort to increase the added value of local commodities and strengthen the competitiveness of MSMEs in Candiharjo Village. Method: The implementation method includes observation of local potential, deepening the production process, socializing market strategies, developing packaging and product design, as well as active promotion through social media and digital content creation. Results: The results show that the design and development of DEKACAN (Dendeng Kangkung Candiharjo) products includes comprehensive stages, ranging from product rebranding, label creation, and visual identity (packaging, posters, x-banners), to online marketing strategies. The primary packaging used in the form of a transparent stand-up pouch with an attractive label sticker design has been proven to be able to increase consumer interest in products. In addition, the use of social media, especially Instagram Business, is considered effective for expanding market reach because it offers features that support visual and interactive promotions at a low cost. Novelty: The novelty of this research lies in the transformation of kale into a jerky product that is not yet common in the market, as well as the combination of visual design strategies and digital marketing based on local potential that has a direct impact on the growth of MSMEs. This approach also shows how traditional products can be developed into modern products that are able to keep up with trends and increase market attractiveness in a sustainable manner.
