Abstract

The Islamic revival in the 20th century gave rise to the discourse on the Islamization of knowledge as a response to the civilizational crisis caused by Western secular dominance. Isma'il Raji al-Faruqi proposed a systematic framework based on five principles of tawhid to reconstruct modern knowledge in accordance with the Islamic worldview. This article analyzes the relevance of al-Faruqi's thought for developing Islamic economics. Through library research and critical analysis of al-Faruqi's twelve-step work plan, the article finds that conventional economics is grounded in materialism, individualistic rationalism, and positivism, which contradict Islamic values of tawhid, khilafah, and justice. The findings indicate that the Islamization of economics requires mastery of modern economics, comprehension of Islamic intellectual heritage, and their synthesis to produce an alternative paradigm. In conclusion, al-Faruqi's thought holds strong methodological relevance for constructing a just and ethical Islamic economics. Kebangkitan Islam pada abad ke-20 memicu wacana islamisasi ilmu pengetahuan sebagai respons terhadap krisis peradaban akibat dominasi sekularisme Barat. Isma'il Raji al-Faruqi menawarkan kerangka sistematis berbasis lima prinsip tauhid untuk merekonstruksi pengetahuan modern agar selaras dengan pandangan dunia Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan menganalisis relevansi gagasan al-Faruqi dalam membangun ekonomi Islam. Melalui studi kepustakaan dan analisis kritis terhadap dua belas langkah kerja al-Faruqi, ditemukan bahwa ekonomi konvensional bertumpu pada asumsi materialisme, rasionalisme individualis, dan positivisme yang bertentangan dengan nilai tauhid, khilafah, dan keadilan Islam. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa islamisasi ekonomi memerlukan penguasaan ilmu ekonomi modern, pemahaman khazanah Islam, serta sintesis keduanya untuk melahirkan paradigma alternatif. Kesimpulannya, pemikiran al-Faruqi memiliki relevansi kuat sebagai landasan metodologis dalam membangun ekonomi Islam yang etis dan berkeadilan.

Abstract

The rapid development of computer technology has made it a compulsory subject at STAIN Jember, managed by Pusdikom, yet the level of student interest remains empirically unmeasured. This study aims to determine student interest in terms of competence, course requirements, and recreational aspects. A descriptive survey was conducted with 60 students from various study programs, using questionnaires and interviews. The results showed that 70% of respondents participated in computer learning because it meets their needs, particularly for completing academic assignments; 26.7% followed the course merely to fulfill credit requirements, as it is compulsory; and 3.3% participated just to spend free time. In conclusion, most students are motivated by the relevance of computers to academic needs, though facility improvements and a better student-lecturer ratio are necessary. It is recommended that infrastructure be enhanced and need-based curricula be optimized. Pesatnya perkembangan teknologi komputer menjadikannya mata kuliah wajib di STAIN Jember yang dikelola melalui Pusdikom, namun belum diketahui secara empiris tingkat minat mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi minat mahasiswa ditinjau dari aspek kompetensi, tuntutan mata kuliah, dan kesenangan. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei deskriptif dengan sampel 60 mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi, menggunakan angket dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 70% responden menyatakan mengikuti pembelajaran komputer karena memenuhi kebutuhan, terutama membantu menyelesaikan tugas perkuliahan; 26,7% mengikuti hanya untuk memenuhi jumlah SKS karena sifatnya wajib; dan 3,3% mengikuti sekadar mengisi waktu luang. Kesimpulannya, mayoritas mahasiswa berminat karena relevansi komputer terhadap kebutuhan akademik, namun perlu peningkatan fasilitas dan rasio dosen-mahasiswa. Direkomendasikan penambahan sarana prasarana dan optimalisasi kurikulum berbasis kebutuhan.

Abstract

A critical issue underlying this study is the public perception that a Nyai’s role in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) stems solely from her husband’s influence as a Kyai, rather than from her own capacity. This study aims to identify and describe the roles of Nyai in formal and nonformal education at Pondok Pesantren Ashri Jember. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that Nyai plays essential roles as an educator and cultural mediator. In formal education, Nyai serves as a teacher, mentor, and leader, including establishing an Ibtidaiyah madrasah for dropout students. In nonformal education, Nyai’s role is more extensive due to 24-hour interaction with students, encompassing caregiving that fosters independence and Quran memorization, as well as serving as a role model in worship and leadership. The study concludes that Nyai at PPI Ashri is not merely a Kyai’s companion but an active educational change agent. It is recommended that further research explore Nyai’s contributions to community empowerment within pesantren. Fenomena krusial yang melatarbelakangi penelitian ini adalah persepsi masyarakat bahwa peran Nyai di pesantren semata-mata karena pengaruh Kyai, bukan karena kapasitasnya sendiri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan peran Nyai dalam pelaksanaan pendidikan formal dan nonformal di Pondok Pesantren Ashri Jember. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan rancangan studi kasus, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Nyai memiliki peran penting sebagai pendidik dan mediator budaya. Dalam pendidikan formal, Nyai berperan sebagai pengajar, pembimbing, dan pemimpin, seperti membuka Madrasah Ibtidaiyah bagi santri putus sekolah. Dalam pendidikan nonformal, peran Nyai lebih besar karena interaksi 24 jam dengan santri, mencakup peran sebagai pengasuh yang membimbing kemandirian dan hafalan Al-Qur’an, serta sebagai sumber teladan dalam ibadah dan kepemimpinan. Kesimpulannya, Nyai di PPI Ashri tidak sekadar pendamping Kyai, melainkan agen perubahan pendidikan yang aktif. Direkomendasikan agar riset lanjutan mengeksplorasi kontribusi Nyai dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat pesantren.

Abstract

The enactment of Law No. 18 of 2003 concerning Advocates has created new opportunities and challenges for graduates of the Ahwalusy Syakhsiyah Study Program that were previously unimaginable, thereby underscoring the need for a responsive curriculum adaptation. This study aims to analyze how the study program responds to consumer demands for a curriculum aligned with the job market and to identify key aspects of producing quality graduates. Using a qualitative approach with an evaluative case study model, data were collected through structured interviews with purposively selected informants, including judges, lawyers, lecturers, and students, supported by documentary studies. The findings reveal that the 2001 curriculum is inadequate to respond to opportunities in the advocate profession, necessitating a revision toward a competency-based curriculum covering main, supporting, and specific competencies. In conclusion, essential aspects to prepare include standard student input, a competency-based curriculum, professional management, learning facilities, lecturer resources, and adequate funding. The recommendation is a systematic curriculum redesign and strengthened collaboration with stakeholders to ensure graduate competitiveness. Pemberlakuan Undang-Undang Nomor 18 Tahun 2003 tentang Advokat telah menciptakan peluang baru sekaligus tantangan bagi lulusan Program Studi Ahwalusy Syakhsiyah yang sebelumnya tidak terbayangkan, sehingga mendesak perlunya respons kurikulum yang adaptif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis bagaimana program studi tersebut menghadapi tuntutan konsumen terhadap kurikulum yang responsif terhadap pasar kerja serta mengidentifikasi aspek-aspek kunci dalam mencetak lulusan berkualitas. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif model studi kasus evaluatif, data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara terstruktur dengan informan yang dipilih secara purposive dari kalangan hakim, pengacara, dosen, dan mahasiswa, serta didukung studi dokumenter. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kurikulum tahun 2001 belum memadai untuk merespons peluang profesi advokat, sehingga perlu penyempurnaan menuju kurikulum berbasis kompetensi yang mencakup kompetensi utama, pendukung, dan khusus. Kesimpulannya, aspek-aspek penting yang harus dipersiapkan meliputi input mahasiswa yang standar, kurikulum berbasis kompetensi, manajemen profesional, fasilitas belajar, sumber daya dosen, dan dana yang memadai. Rekomendasinya adalah perlunya desain ulang kurikulum secara sistematis serta penguatan kerja sama dengan pemangku kepentingan untuk menjamin daya saing lulusan.

Abstract

Implementing religious guidance and counseling for inmates is a crucial issue in the correctional system, as it helps restore their self-esteem and spiritual and mental health as individuals and citizens. This research addresses the need for a faith- and piety-based approach to mental development. The study aims to describe the implementation, supporting and inhibiting factors, and outcomes of religious guidance and counseling at the Ponorogo State Detention Center. A qualitative-descriptive case study design was employed, using in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The findings indicate that guidance is conducted twice a week through religious lectures, Quranic recitation, and congregational prayers. It is supported by high staff motivation but hindered by limited facilities and counselors. The outcomes include inner peace (spiritual) and physical fitness among inmates. In conclusion, religious guidance and counseling are essential and should be enhanced through facility improvements, stricter supervision, and staff role modeling. Pelaksanaan bimbingan dan penyuluhan agama bagi narapidana merupakan isu krusial dalam sistem pemasyarakatan karena berperan memulihkan harga diri dan mental spiritual mereka sebagai individu dan warga negara. Penelitian ini didasarkan pada kebutuhan pendekatan pembinaan mental melalui nilai-nilai keimanan dan ketaqwaan. Tujuan penelitian adalah mendeskripsikan pelaksanaan, faktor pendukung dan penghambat, serta hasil bimbingan dan penyuluhan agama di Rumah Tahanan Negara Ponorogo. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-deskriptif dengan rancangan studi kasus, serta teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan studi dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelaksanaan bimbingan berlangsung dua kali seminggu melalui ceramah agama, mengaji Al-Qur’an, dan sholat berjamaah, didukung motivasi tinggi dari petugas namun terhambat keterbatasan sarana dan tenaga penyuluh. Wujud keberhasilan meliputi ketenangan jiwa (rohani) dan kebugaran jasmani narapidana. Kesimpulan penelitian ini menegaskan bahwa bimbingan dan penyuluhan agama sangat diperlukan dan perlu ditingkatkan melalui pemenuhan fasilitas serta penguatan pengawasan dan keteladanan petugas.

Abstract

The proper functioning of election dispute resolution mechanisms is critical for democratic consolidation, yet Panwaslu performance is hindered by inadequate compensation and variable emotional competence among members. Grounded in organisational behaviour and human resource management theories, the study examines compensation systems and emotional competence as determinants of performance. It analyses the influence of these factors on Panwaslu members’ performance in resolving electoral disputes, both jointly and separately. A quantitative approach using multiple regression analysis was employed, involving 129 respondents from district and city Panwaslu across East Java during the 2004 legislative and presidential elections. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation, documentation, and interviews. The findings show that the compensation system alone does not significantly affect dispute resolution performance (t=1.014, p=0.313), whereas emotional competence has a significant positive influence (t=2.507, p=0.013). Together, the variables explain 16.5% of the variance in performance (R²=0.165, F=0.000). The study concludes that emotional competence is the dominant factor and recommends that future Panwaslu recruitment prioritise indicators of emotional competence and that performance-based compensation be more explicitly formulated to enhance dispute resolution effectiveness. Mekanisme penyelesaian sengketa Pemilu yang berfungsi baik sangat krusial bagi konsolidasi demokrasi, namun kinerja Panwaslu menghadapi tantangan dari sistem kompensasi yang belum memadai dan kompetensi emosi anggota yang bervariasi. Penelitian ini berlandaskan pada teori perilaku organisasi dan manajemen sumber daya manusia, khususnya sistem kompensasi dan kompetensi emosi sebagai determinan kinerja. Tujuan penelitian adalah menganalisis pengaruh sistem kompensasi dan kompetensi emosi terhadap kinerja anggota Panwaslu dalam menyelesaikan sengketa Pemilu, baik secara simultan maupun parsial. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan analisis regresi berganda terhadap 129 responden dari Panwaslu Kabupaten/Kota di Jawa Timur pada Pemilu legislatif dan presiden 2004. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui kuesioner, observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sistem kompensasi secara parsial tidak berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja penyelesaian sengketa (t=1,014; p=0,313), sedangkan kompetensi emosi berpengaruh positif signifikan (t=2,507; p=0,013). Secara simultan, kedua variabel menjelaskan 16,5% varians kinerja (R²=0,165; F=0,000). Kesimpulannya, kompetensi emosi merupakan faktor dominan. Penelitian merekomendasikan agar rekrutmen Panwaslu ke depan memperhatikan aspek kompetensi emosi dan perumusan kompensasi berbasis kinerja secara lebih rinci.

Abstract

Large religious organisations such as NU are often criticised for being slow to empower communities despite having a strong mass base. This article examines NU Jember’s efforts to empower communities through formal and non-formal education. The study aims to describe empowerment strategies and the supporting and inhibiting factors. A qualitative-descriptive approach with phenomenological methods was employed, using observation, in-depth interviews, and documentary studies. Purposive sampling was applied, and data were analysed using a grounded theory model. The findings show that NU Jember conducts structural empowerment through organisational strengthening and cultural empowerment through socio-religious activities. Supporting factors include religious doctrines on the obligation to seek knowledge, low costs, and the dominance of kyai in society. Main obstacles are the dichotomy of knowledge, economic incapacity, patron-client culture, and low attention to educational quality. In conclusion, NU Jember has significantly contributed to empowerment, but curriculum reform and improved professional management of educational institutions are necessary. Fenomena organisasi keagamaan besar seperti NU sering dikritik lamban dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat, meskipun memiliki basis massa kuat. Artikel ini membahas upaya NU Jember dalam pemberdayaan masyarakat melalui jalur pendidikan, baik formal maupun nonformal. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan strategi pemberdayaan serta faktor pendukung dan penghambatnya. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah kualitatif-deskriptif dengan metode fenomenologi, melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam, dan studi dokumentasi. Sampel ditentukan secara purposive sampling, dan data dianalisis dengan model grounded research. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa NU Jember melakukan pemberdayaan struktural melalui penguatan organisasi, dan pemberdayaan kultural melalui kegiatan keagamaan sosial. Faktor pendukung meliputi doktrin agama tentang kewajiban menuntut ilmu, biaya murah, serta dominasi kiai di masyarakat. Hambatan utamanya adalah dikotomi ilmu, ketidakmampuan ekonomi masyarakat, kultur patron-klien, serta rendahnya perhatian terhadap mutu pendidikan. Kesimpulannya, NU Jember telah berkontribusi signifikan dalam pemberdayaan, namun diperlukan reformasi kurikulum dan peningkatan profesionalisme pengelolaan lembaga pendidikan.
