Abstract

The existence of negative stigma and the lack of information causes the low interest of students to continue their studies to higher education. The “Inspiration Class” program aims to provide information related to the world of lectures to break negative stigma and increase students' interest in further studies. This activity was carried out at the Vocational High School 2 Tapung Hilir. This activity was held in July 2022 which was attended by class XI majoring in Motorcycle Business Engineering (TBSM) or Plantation Agribusiness. The resource persons in this activity were the dedication team from the University of Riau which consisted of lecturers and students in field practice. The steps for implementing this activity include the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Overall the level of achievement of this activity is very satisfactory where this results was evaluated through responses, enthusiasm and questions from activity participants about the materials that have been delivered, both materials related to negative stigmas about lectures and or materials related to scholarships.

Abstract

Smoking culture is one of the problems that is quite urgent today because of the high number of smokers in Indonesia. The magnitude of the dangers of smoking to health is a concern considering that there are currently many active smokers from among children and adolescents. To overcome this, children need to get education as early as possible regarding the content of cigarettes and the dangers of smoking to their health. One of the efforts made is the delivery of messages and information through poster media. This service activity was carried out at SDN 27 Pekanbaru in July 2022. The media used as a transmitter of information was posters. Posters are posted at several points on the school site. The data collection instrument used were documentation and questionnaire of students' knowledge and awareness about the dangers of smoking. The results of this activity indicate that the poster media of the dangers of smoking can be used as a way to increase students' knowledge and awareness about the content and dangers of smoking.

Abstract

The increasing learning difficulties in adolescents are a record of solutions from various parties, one of which is teachers, parents and adolescents themselves. Therefore, it is very necessary to solve this problem with effective and fun methods for adolescents, so that adolescents can alleviate the problems of learning difficulties experienced and become more motivated in learning at school. So the application of the Hypnotherapy Method is very appropriate to overcome this problem. This activity was carried out using a conventional method with a brainstorming approach, the participants of this activity were teenagers who lived in RT. 005 Parit 3 Tembilahan, totaling 28 teenagers consisting of 6 men and 22 women, which was also attended by several community leaders. This activity was carried out for 2 days. As for the results of this activity, first participants can reflect on their feelings related to the learning difficulties they experience, then the Hypnotherapy Method is practiced on participants, which gives the result that participants become calmer, less anxious and again motivated in learning can also be calmer in facing problems, especially the learning difficulties experienced. This activity received a positive response from the local community and it was recommended to carry out activities with different themes

Abstract

This service activity aims to introduce teachers to the concept and benefits of using RPG applications in learning. Through structured sessions, participants are introduced to the basics of RPG, demonstrations of using the application in a classroom context, and discussions about its benefits in increasing student motivation and participation. Apart from that, this activity also discusses strategies for implementing RPG applications in the school curriculum. The results of this activity show that the RPG application has great potential to create a more interactive and enjoyable learning environment. RPGs can increase student engagement, motivate them through reward systems, and develop collaborative and problem-solving skills. Teachers who take part in this activity gain practical knowledge and skills to integrate this technology into their daily learning.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance the performance of MSMEs in Sumber Rejo Village, Balikpapan, by providing training on simple financial statement preparation and digital marketing strategies, reaching 35 MSMEs with the goal of improving their financial management and online marketing skills. The program, conducted through hybrid training sessions (Zoom and offline), included interactive discussions and hands-on practice. Post-training assessments show a significant improvement in participants' understanding and skills, evidenced by the increased use of digital platforms and improved financial record keeping. The program will continue to support these MSMEs through ongoing mentoring, fostering connections with financial institutions, and facilitating easier access to credit. It is hoped that this program will have a positive and lasting impact on the MSMEs in the area, contributing to their growth and the overall economic development of Sumber Rejo Village.

Abstract

Community service aims to increase understanding of the concept of integer arithmetic operations, considering the importance of understanding and mastery of this material because it is the basic material for the next material. The research method of community service is learning using concrete examples such as positive (+) and negative (-) cards and borrowing. This community service activity took place over three meetings, starting on May 21, 25, and 27, 2024 with a total of 26 class V participants. Based on the results of observations during the activity, several positive things were obtained, namely: 1). The enthusiasm for learning that is very visible from students because of the fun learning process, 2). Courage that will foster students' self-confidence when coming forward to answer a question, and 3). Changes in the mindset of students who still think that mathematics is a difficult, stressful, and boring subject. This community service activity also has a very significant impact on changes in the increase in the value obtained by students in solving a problem.

Abstract

Physics is a science that is directly related to daily life events. In studying physics in schools, it is inseparable from the role of laboratories as the main support for learning success, so it is necessary to have facilities and infrastructure in the form of practicum tools. For schools that do not have laboratories, it is necessary to collaborate with other agencies such as universities. The purpose of this service is in the form of Open Laboratory activities, namely providing practicum assistance to schools with inadequate equipment facilities. The Open Lab activity was carried out at SMA Islam Diponegoro with several stages, namely coordinating with teachers in the field of study about practicum needs, implementation schedules, preparation stages for modules to be used, practicum mentoring process, data analysis using excel and word and evaluation of activity results.. The average results of the pre-test were 102.71, the post-test was 146.37, and the N-Gain value was 0.60 with the medium category. This shows that there is a positive response from students due to the practicum. The results obtained in the service activities are the preparation of practicum modules, the creation of more meaningful learning. This service also received a good response from teachers and students.

Abstract

Teacher creativity in designing innovative learning media is an important factor in improving the quality of education. Creative learning media can help students understand the material more easily and have fun. The aim of this community service activity is to provide training to teachers on how to create Smart Ladder media, in order to increase teacher creativity and make learning more interactive and effective. This training was attended by 8 teachers from SDN Omo. Community Service Procedures (PkM) are divided into 3 parts, namely planning, implementation, discussion and evaluation. The results of the training showed that the participants succeeded in creating intelligent ladder media that was appropriate to the subjects they taught. In addition, they also show an increased understanding of the importance of creativity in learning. It is hoped that the application of the Smart Ladder media can support the creation of more interesting learning, increase student understanding, and enrich the learning experience at school.

Abstract

This service activity aims to provide training in the Index Card Match and Card Sort learning methods to increase the creativity of teachers in Boleng Village. This activity is carried out in three stages, including planning, implementation (presentation of material and simulation) and discussion and evaluation. The results of interviews with teachers who took part in the training, on average, said that taking part in this training could motivate them to increase creativity so that teachers could apply it in learning to create a pleasant learning atmosphere and increase student activity in the learning process.. The results of observations also show that the teachers were very enthusiastic and active in participating in this training from start to finish. The teachers are even very fluent in simulating the application of this type of learning method to encourage enthusiasm for learning. The Index Card Match and Card Sort methods have been proven to increase teacher creativity and create a learning atmosphere that is fun and easy for students to accept and makes them more enthusiastic, active and motivated to participate in teaching and learning activities. It is hoped that all training participants can increase their creativity and carry out various innovations to create a fun and active learning atmosphere for students.

Abstract

This service is carried out with the intention of finding harmony between universities and vocational schools in the field of accounting. This is done so that vocational school graduates have a solid knowledge of accounting. The method employed in delivering the material is primarily the lecture method, which is designed to provide a comprehensive explanation of the subject matter. To enhance understanding and encourage active participation, the session concludes with a question-and-answer segment, allowing participants to seek clarification and engage in discussions about the topics presented. There was enthusiasm from the participants who attended this activity. In addition, the teachers and school leaders of SMK Muhammadiyah 4 Slipi Jakarta were very enthusiastic about the activities carried out by lecturers from the UHAMKA Faculty of Economics and Business. They hope that this synergy can continue to run well, so that there is continuity between levels of education and there is no gap in the same field of science. The alignment between higher education institutions and vocational high schools plays a crucial role in producing graduates who are proficient in their respective fields of expertise. Such synergy ensures that students possess a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, enabling them to transition seamlessly into higher education without requiring prolonged periods of adaptation. Moreover, graduates from vocational high schools are often better equipped for the workforce, demonstrating a competitive advantage over those from general education schools due to their specialized training and practical experience
