EduInovasi: Journal of Basic Educational Studies is a journal published in the Study Program of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education, Faculty of Tarbiyah, the  Islamic Institute of Laa Roiba Bogor. This journal is published twice a year in February and Agust. Furthermore, this journal is published in two versions, namely print and online. The focus of this journal contains articles on research on Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education / Primary / MI / SD Teacher Education, such as competency analysis, learning strategies, learning theory, learning development, educator professionalism, and research results. Reviewers will review any submitted paper. The Journal kindly invites scientists, scholars, professionals, and researchers in the form of the contribution with articles to be published and disseminated through: the selection mechanism of the article, criticized by reviewer, and the editing process. Abstract

Islamic Religious Education, commonly known as PAI, tends to be less appealing to students. This is highlighted by their lack of enthusiasm when PAI classes commence, showing passivity and minimal engagement in the learning process. Several factors contribute to this, including insufficiently trained educators, teaching methods that feel coercive, and inadequate classroom time. To address these challenges, it is essential to incorporate enjoyable methods or joyful learning approaches. This research relates to the title “Implementation of Joyful Learning Methods in Learning Islamic Religious Education in SMP Muhammadiyah Sukaramai 58.” The research employs a qualitative methodology, utilizing purposive sampling techniques. This approach focuses on narrative analysis. The data collection encompasses observations, interviews, and study of documentation. The data analysis follows Miles and Huberman's framework, which entails data condensation, data display, verification, and conclusions. To ensure data validity, triangulation techniques and sources are employed. This study arrived at the following conclusions: (1) The joyful learning method in PAI is implemented through activities such as outbound and moving classes, outdoor sessions, mind mapping, trainer training, and gameplay supported by music played over a loudspeaker, alongside employing memorization techniques based on the super memory formula. (2) Factors that support the use of joyful learning methods in PAI at SMP Muhammadiyah Sukaramai 58 include students' diminished motivation to learn, while a barrier is the educator's insufficient creativity in integrating games into teaching using the joyful learning method.

Abstract

Learning English as a Foreign Language (EFL) presents challenges, particularly in vocabulary acquisition. This study examines the integration of social media, specifically Instagram, in enhancing students' vocabulary skills and its impact on learning motivation. A quantitative experimental design was employed, involving pre-tests, treatment, and post-tests on students from STKIP Pangeran Antasari. The findings indicate a significant improvement in vocabulary acquisition, with post-test scores showing an increase from an initial 33.33% mastery level to 93.33%. Moreover, students' motivation significantly increased, as evidenced by post-questionnaire results. The study suggests that social media can be an effective supplementary tool for vocabulary learning, providing interactive and engaging learning experiences.

Abstract

Referring to connectivism theory, it is understood that knowledge is distributed across a network where connections facilitate the dissemination of information. In this context, students are seen as actively engaged in creating their own networks, leading to the development of new, beneficial understanding. The study examines the unique contributions of each social media platform in improving students' writing and vocabulary skills. This research adopts a qualitative approach with interview and observation. The findings show that the use of social media such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok can improve writing skills and English vocabulary mastery among 8th grade students of SMP WR Supratman 1 Medan. Through the various types of content they access, students can practice writing in English in informal and formal contexts, which allows them to develop better writing skills. Although there are variations in how students use social media, all students showed improvements in their writing skills, especially in terms of sentence structure and the use of more varied vocabulary.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the spatial layout of traditional houses of the Lembak Tribe in Pondok Kubang Sub-district, Central Bengkulu Regency. Lembak traditional houses are one of the cultural heritages that reflect local values, both in social and architectural aspects. However, along with the times, the number of traditional houses is decreasing, so a study is needed to understand the spatial patterns and characteristics to support conservation efforts. The research method used was descriptive-qualitative with an ethnographic approach, involving field observations and in-depth interviews with house owners and local traditional leaders. The sample consisted of five traditional houses selected based on the criteria of building age above 80 years and still maintaining the original structure and spatial layout. The analysis was conducted by examining aspects of spatial zoning, function, and environmental factors that influence spatial patterns. The results showed that traditional houses of the Lembak Tribe have a spatial pattern consisting of public, semi-public, private and service zones. The main elements found include berande (front porch), luo (living room), Bilik Besak (main room), Bilik Kecik (children's room), Emben (kitchen and dining room), garang (washing place), and Garang panjang (side porch). The structure of the house is in the form of a stage with wooden pillars supported by stone, and the stairs are generally located on the right side of the building. This spatial pattern is influenced by cultural aspects and the geographical condition of the Bengkulu region, which is prone to earthquakes. This research contributes to providing an understanding of the spatial layout of traditional houses of the Lembak Tribe and serves as a reference for efforts to preserve vernacular architecture. The results of this study can also serve as a basis for traditional building conservation policies in the context of regional planning and cultural heritage.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills play an important role in preparing students to become problem solvers. Improving critical thinking skills requires learning models and media, namely discovery learning and realia media. Because in discovery learning students are encouraged to learn independently and are actively involved in finding concepts and principles through problem solving. In addition, the combination of realia media allows students to gain direct and real experience in understanding the material. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of using the discovery learning model and realia media together on the critical thinking skills of fifth grade students of SD Negeri Gugus 1, Slahung District, Ponorogo. This study used a quantitative method with an ex-post facto research design. The sample in this study was fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Senepo and SD Negeri 2 Senepo Ponorogo totaling 33 students. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire and test. The data analysis technique was through the data analysis prerequisite test with the normality test and homogeneity test, and the influence test with the hypothesis test. The results show that the discovery learning model significantly influences students' critical thinking skills, realia media significantly influences students' critical thinking skills, and the discovery learning model and realia media simultaneously significantly influence students' critical thinking skills. If the discovery learning model and realia media increase, then critical thinking skills increase, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study evaluates the impact of animation video and Powerpoint media on students' interest and learning outcomes in chemistry for class XI at Chandra Kumala School, utilizing the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The results show that the average pretest score for the experimental class 1 using animation videos increased from 49.25 to 85.75, with a significant improvement (t-value of 7.214, p < 0.05, N-Gain of 0.719). In contrast, experimental class 2 using Powerpoint had a pretest average of 63.75 and a posttest average of 73.75 (N-Gain of 0.275). The overall results indicate that class 1 performed better, with a significant difference in learning outcomes between the two classes (t-value of 3.650, p < 0.05). This study concludes that animation video media is more effective than Powerpoint in enhancing students' chemistry learning outcomes, despite some technical and linguistic challenges faced during implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the politeness strategies used by the winner of Miss Cosmo 2024, Ketut Permata Juliastrid, in a talk show on the IDN Times YouTube channel. The main objective of this research is to find out the type and purpose of the politeness strategies used. Brown and Levinson's politeness theory is used in this study to determine the types of politeness strategies used and also the purpose of the politeness strategy used. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach as its methodology. Information was collected from transcripts of talk show conversations, which were then categorized according to the types of politeness strategies used. The results of the analysis based on the data analysis, 8 politeness strategies were identified. It consists of 4 positive politeness strategies, 2 negative politeness strategies, and 2 bald on record strategies.. The findings of this study confirm that positive politeness strategies mostly found in communication in a talk show.

Abstract

This entrepreneurship education is an education that's beginning to exist in the era of globalization 5.0. Almost all elements of society, especially in schools, are beginning to implement and prioritize entrepreneurship education. Teaching factory is a method of entrepreneurship education that focuses on production or services to improve work readiness, apply skills, and foster work ethic in vocational graduates. The purpose of this study is to analyze the teaching factory on the entrepreneurship education competence of vocational students. This research uses a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology that collects and analyzes relevant research journals according to the research steps. The results of this study indicate that teaching factory, as a production-based learning method, has the ability to align instruction with industrial practice so that students not only master technical skills, but also develop the management, interpersonal, and creative thinking skills needed to become successful entrepreneurs. The research also identified some challenges to the implementation of the teaching factory, such as a lack of management support, limited facilities, and the need for more effective partnerships with industry, requiring strong collaboration between schools, industry, and government. Teaching factory has significant potential in improving the entrepreneurship education competencies of vocational students.

Abstract

Learning achievement is the result of learning obtained by students while carrying out school learning. The purpose of this study is to determine how much influence parenting patterns have on their children's learning achievement. This study uses quantitative methods with spearman rank analysis. Respondents in this study were 93 students in class VII and class VIII MTs. Assulamiy Langko. The results of the study are a positive relationship with a significance value of 0.036, meaning that the better the parenting style given by parents, the higher the learning achievement obtained by students.

Abstract

                Students face various challengers when writing their theses, such as difficulty in meeting with their supervisors, finding literature books, and a lack of knowledge about research as well as difficulties in data analysis. Additionally, students often feel stressed during the thesis process, including the difficulty of determining the right theory, finding an appropriate title, and managing numerous revisions. With low emotional intelligence in facing the challenges of thesis writing and the lack of social support, students may struggle to cope with these issues. The purpose of this research is to determine the relationship between social support and emotional intelligence among students who are writing their theses at X University of Yogyakarta. The variables of social support and emotional intelligence were measured using a scale. The sample of this study consisted of 97 students at X University of Yogyakarta who were in the thesis writing stage. The data analysis test used in this research employed the Spearman Test method using Windows SPSS version 25. Based on the analysis of 97 students at X University of Yogyakarta revealed a correlation coefficient of 0.265 between social support and emotional intelligence, with a significant value of ρ = 0.009 (ρ < 0.05). Therefore, the research results indicate a significant relationship between social support and emotional intelligence. Students who receive higher social support tend to have better emotional intelligence, which positively affects their ability to manage stress and challenges during the thesis writing process.
