Abstract

Plastic waste, including used mineral water gallons, is a significant environmental issue in Indonesia. Mosques, as centers of Islamic civilization, have great potential to pioneer environmentally friendly movements through the Eco-Mosque concept. This study aims to implement and analyze the innovation of recycling used gallons into plant pots as a tangible strategy to realize an Eco-Mosque at Masjid Al Kahfi. The research method used was Participatory Action Research (PAR), which involved the mosque management and congregation. The program was carried out in several stages: (1) collection of used gallons, (2) pot creation, (3) production process (cutting, creating drainage, decoration), and (4) placement of the pots in the mosque area. Data was collected through observation and interviews. The results showed that this program successfully transformed 12 used gallons into functional and aesthetic plant pots, which subsequently adorned the mosque's courtyard and garden. It was concluded that this creative recycling innovation not only reduced plastic waste and beautified the environment of Masjid Al Kahfi but also successfully served as a powerful environmental education medium. Thus, it can become a model for other mosques to adopt and develop.

Abstract

This community assistance program focused on strengthening the internalization of adab (Islamic etiquette) among tahfidz students at Ribathul Qur’an wal Qira’at Islamic Boarding School, Malang, by cultivating sustainable habits within the halaqah learning environment. The program was designed to address practical challenges observed in daily activities, including punctuality, maintaining a conducive halaqah atmosphere, consistency in muraja’ah (Qur’anic revision), respect toward musyrif (supervisors), proper treatment of the mushaf and learning environment, and responsible smartphone use. A participatory assistance approach was employed, involving caregivers, musyrif, students, and student administrators through four stages: initial assessment, collaborative planning, intervention implementation, and continuous monitoring and reflection. The main interventions included the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for halaqah adab, micro-coaching sessions for musyrif, the establishment of peer mentors, the installation of visual reminders, and the use of simple monitoring instruments. The findings indicate gradual improvements in individual behavior, particularly in punctual attendance, readiness for Qur’anic recitation, and reduced digital distractions. At the social level, peer support strengthened positive social control while minimizing corrective practices that could cause embarrassment. At the institutional level, the implementation of SOPs and weekly evaluations promoted consistent standards across halaqah groups, making adab practices easier to sustain. This program recommends maintaining regular evaluation cycles, strengthening the peer mentoring system, and conducting continuous monitoring to ensure the long-term sustainability of behavioral improvements.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly influenced students’ behavior and patterns of social interaction, particularly in the use of social media and everyday communication ethics. This condition presents a challenge for educational institutions in strengthening students’ moral values and character formation in the digital era. This community engagement program aimed to enhance students’ moral awareness through a participatory moral education seminar conducted at MA Nurul Jadid Bungbaruh Kadur, Pamekasan. The program was implemented through lectures, interactive discussions, and reflective learning activities involving 52 senior high school students (MA level). The evaluation employed observation, questionnaires, and pre-test and post-test assessments to measure changes in participants’ understanding. The findings indicate an improvement in students’ comprehension across several key indicators, particularly regarding social media ethics, learning motivation, and awareness of the importance of moral conduct in daily life. Furthermore, most participants responded positively to the seminar, considering the materials relevant to their experiences as adolescents. The participatory approach also contributed to creating a more communicative and reflective learning environment. Therefore, participatory moral education seminars demonstrate considerable potential as an effective medium for strengthening students’ character development and promoting ethical digital behavior in both school and madrasah settings.

Abstract

Effective mosque management requires a well-structured management system and active community participation to ensure optimal services for congregants. However, At-Taqwa Mosque in Nguwok Village, Modo District, Lamongan Regency, faces several challenges, including inadequate administrative management, unclear distribution of managerial responsibilities, and limited involvement of mosque youth in mosque activities. Therefore, this community service program aimed to enhance the quality of mosque management and congregational services through participatory mosque management assistance. The program employed a participatory approach consisting of five stages: preparation, needs assessment, program planning, implementation of assistance, and monitoring and evaluation. The participants included mosque administrators (takmir), management board members, and mosque youth. The results demonstrated significant improvements in mosque governance through better administrative practices, strengthened organizational management, more structured work programs, and increased participation of congregants, particularly mosque youth. Furthermore, the program fostered collective awareness regarding the importance of organized, transparent, and sustainable mosque management. These findings indicate that the participatory approach is effective in enhancing the capacity of mosque administrators and supporting the development of the mosque as a center for religious and community activities.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance Islamic financial literacy and introduce capital market concepts to students at MTs Hidayatul Muta'alimin. Conventional financial education often feels abstract and complex for middle school students. To address this, the program implemented a gamification method using the Stocklab board game as an interactive learning tool. The socialization involved interactive presentations, guided simulation gameplay, and a mini-tournament to foster enthusiasm. Data collection through pre-tests, post-tests, and observations showed a significant increase in students' understanding of Sharia stock investment, financial management, and capital market mechanisms. Furthermore, the experiential learning approach successfully stimulated students' interest in becoming future sharia investors. This program demonstrates that game-based learning is an effective and engaging alternative for early financial education in Islamic school environments.

Abstract

Character education at the elementary school level requires learning experiences that go beyond classroom instruction and allow students to practice positive values in real situations. One of the programs implemented by Cahaya Permata Islamic Elementary School in Malang Regency is MABIT (Faith and Piety Development Night). This community service project aimed to assist the management of the MABIT program as an effort to strengthen students’ character development. The program employed the Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach and involved school leaders, teachers, students, and parents throughout the process. The assistance included asset mapping, program planning, implementation, and evaluation activities. MABIT was conducted over two days and one night through a series of activities, including congregational prayers, Qur’anic revision sessions, field exploration, educational competitions, campfire activities, and environmental clean-up programs. The experience showed that the program could be implemented in a well-organized manner through collaboration among teachers, committees, and parents. Beyond its religious dimension, MABIT provided students with opportunities to develop discipline, responsibility, cooperation, and independence through direct participation in various activities. The program also offered the school a practical way to integrate experiential learning into character education and to create learning experiences that are closely connected to students’ daily lives.

Abstract

Inclusive schools are an effective solution for providing equal access to education for children with special needs amidst the limited number of Special Schools (SLB). Lumajang Regency faces serious challenges in implementing inclusive education, characterized by the absence of a Disability Service Unit (ULD), a shortage of Special Assistant Teachers, lack of teacher training, weak teacher-parent collaboration, and the absence of educational digitalization. This community service activity aims to: (1) provide assistance to parents in utilizing digital services in inclusive schools, (2) encourage the strengthening of ULD in Lumajang Regency, and (3) realize collaboration between teachers, parents, academics, and local government. The activity was conducted over one month (April 6–May 4, 2026) in Jogoyudan Village, Lumajang District, involving 25 parents of children with special needs, 5 Special Assistant Teachers, 5 school principals, and 2 representatives from the Education Office. Methods used included surveys, Focus Group Discussions (FGD), training, simulation, and mentoring. The results showed: (1) the initial condition of parents was very concerning—100% experienced difficulties in mentoring and 92% felt frustrated; (2) there was an increase in parents' understanding of digitalization from an average of 30 to 82; (3) an increase in teachers' understanding of inclusive education from 55 to 89; (4) a stark contrast in satisfaction levels between parents with ULD (85%) and without ULD (15%); and (5) ULD socialization successfully raised local government awareness and school commitment. This activity concludes that parental assistance, digitalization of services, and strengthening of ULD are urgent and interconnected needs. Collaboration between local government, academics, and practitioners is the key to success in realizing quality inclusive education in Lumajang Regency. The main recommendation is the immediate establishment of ULD in Lumajang, the development of sustainable digitalization systems, and the strengthening of cross-sector collaboration.
