Abstract

The changes in consuption patterns triggered by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the pro-Israel boycott movement in Indonesia are important since they show the influence of socio-religious values on cunsumers behavior and the resulting impacts on companies and the workforce. Previous studies primarily focused on analyzing the causes and implications of the conflict, and paid insufficient attention to the socio-religious behavior perspective in changing consumption patterns. This study includes boycott actions, the social and religious characteristics of both pro and con movements, and the involvement of state institutions in responding to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The desk research method is used by collecting data through digital media analysis, including online news, social media, and library research. The findings of this study include the internalization of social religious values as a driving force for boycott actions, moral considerations influencing the defense of opinions in society, and the involvement of major powers in strenghtening the boycott movement. The uniqueness of this study lies in its in-depth approach to religious social behavior in the context of changing consumption patterns amidst armed conflict.

Abstract

The culinary movement is currently undergoing interesting developments: initially, food was a basic requirement for energy and the food consumed was usually processed from nature. Consequently, processed food often characterized the identity of specific tribes, cultures, and regions. In the modern era, food has a long history (for example, the French Revolution), with ethics and rules. This shows that modern food culture is structured and even classifies social classes. Originally, food in the modern era had a concept adapted from the serving of food in palaces, with order and layout. However, this modern presentation of food was rejected by cooks who served food in different ways. For example, enjoying meals at a high altitude and serving food with unusual artistry. With this resistance to the European-style presentation of many luxury restaurants in Indonesia, this post-modernist restaurant can attract customers. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection technique is conducted through visual observation via social media. The findings reveal that the flow of post-modernism and post-structuralism has influenced the way food is served in several Indonesian restaurants. The full results and discussion are presented herein.

This research has a high urgency since it illustrates the impact of mediatization of clothing consumption on Muslim teenagers, who face a dilemma between maintaining religious identity and following fashion trends promoted by the media. in the context of globalization and cultural change, this phenomenon creates serious challenges that need to be understood and addressed by focusing on religious identity and values embraced by individuals, this research fills the gap from previous studies that tend to be underrepresented and geographically limited. Through a qualitative approach, this study examines the clothing consumption characteristics of Muslim teenagers by comparing previous research and journals and analyzing data from interviews and observations. The results highlight online media as a major factor in influencing the selection and consumption of clothing that may not be in line with religious principles. Recommendations for future studies include a broader analysis involving all religions in the digital age, and investigating the factors that influence the selection and consumption of clothing that may not be in line with religious principles.

Abstract

The dissemination of Palestinian conflict issues on Instagram social media, goes beyond simply being a form of informative communication practice, it also describes the situation and latent dangers of the conflict’s implications for vulnerable groups. However, this context tends to be neglected in scientific discussions. This study also focuses on explaining and reflecting on the latent dangers of the implications of the Palestine-Israel conflict for children as a vulnerable group on Instagram. By using a qualitative descriptive case study approach, this study shows three important findings. First, the latent danger of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, aside from claiming the lives of many children who were victims, quite a few children also lost their relatives and friends who were in the conflict area. Second, the latent danger of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, aside depriving depriving children of their right to get a decent place to live, it has also destroyed the living environment in refugee camps for children in conflict areas. Third, the latent danger of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, aside from causing children to lose their fathers and mothers, also causes quite a few of children to lose their entire family members in conflict areas. This study also recommends the importance of discussing the issues of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict which are disseminated on Instagram by using more varied hashtags.

Abstract

This paper aims to explain the shift that has occurred in antakng as a customary value standard in the Dayak Benuaq Tonyooi community. Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and document studies, this research was conducted in West Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan. The results showed that antakng, which has traditionally served as ceremonial object and used as a unit of value for Dayak people, and also functions as a standard of exchange, has now been replaced and converted into a unit of currency (rupiah). Currently, the value of 1 antakng is equivalent to IDR 400,000 (four hundred thousand rupiah). This transformation occurred due to the scarce availability of antakng (urns) and as a form of rational choice from the community to continue conducting economic transactions and maintaining customary practices in the midst of changing times. Antakng converted to money or rupiah is now used as the unit of value for paying wages and fines, and is applied in the settlement of cases in West Kutai. This research recommends the need for preservation efforts and the establishment of clear regulations regarding the use of antakng in the customary context, in order to preserve traditional values amid the challenges of modernization.
