Abstract

The development of teaching materials was carried out to facilitate students in understanding and completing learning materials in mathematics. Based on the results of interviews with the fourth-grade homeroom teacher at MI Al-Aziz, it was found that several students had mathematics learning outcomes below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM), particularly in fraction topics. This condition was caused by the limited availability of teaching materials that were not able to attract students’ enthusiasm for learning. To address this problem, the researcher considered it necessary to develop teaching materials in the form of Student Worksheets (LKPD) based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). The research problems of this study are: (1) how to develop teaching materials based on Realistic Mathematics Education on fraction topics for fourth-grade students at MI Al-Aziz, and (2) how effective RME-based LKPD is in improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at MI Al-Aziz. The objectives of this study are to develop RME-based teaching materials on fraction topics for fourth-grade students at MI Al-Aziz and to determine the effectiveness of RME-based LKPD on the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students at MI Al-Aziz. This research employed both qualitative and quantitative approaches. The type of research used was Research and Development (R&D), referring to the ADDIE model, which was adapted into five stages: (1) Analysis, (2) Design, (3) Development, (4) Implementation, and (5) Evaluation. The results of the study indicated that the developed teaching materials met the criteria of being very good, highly feasible, and valid, based on assessments by subject matter experts and design/media experts, with scores of 97.7% from material experts, 94.5% from design/media experts, and 88.3% from student assessments. Furthermore, the effectiveness results obtained from pretest and posttest instruments administered to students met the effectiveness criteria and were categorized as effective in improving the learning outcomes of fourth-grade students, with a percentage of 79%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of inquiry and discovery methods in Natural Science (Science) learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah based on a literature review. The research method employed is library research, with data sources obtained from reputable journals and relevant books discussing inquiry and discovery methods. The results of the review indicate that inquiry and discovery methods contribute positively to the science learning process. The inquiry method encourages students to actively ask questions, observe, and systematically investigate problems, while the discovery method enables students to find new concepts through exploration and experimentation. Both methods play an important role in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and conceptual understanding. In addition, the literature reveals that the application of these methods can increase students’ learning motivation, as they are directly involved in the learning process. However, the successful implementation of these methods largely depends on the teacher’s role in designing structured learning activities that support student exploration. This study provides insights into the importance of applying inquiry and discovery methods in science learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers and educational practitioners in developing more innovative and effective learning strategies.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the condition of Islamic education, which is often limited to educational practice and has not yet reached the fulfillment of a clear spiritual–religious (ruḥāniyyah Islāmiyyah) connectedness. In addition, the slow growth and development of Islamic education did not only occur during the medieval period but continues to persist in the present era. In general, his thoughts on Islamic education were strongly influenced by the ideas of Ibn Sina, Ibn Miskawaih, Imam al-Ghazali, and Ibn Khaldun. Meanwhile, ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi was an Egyptian scholar, educational figure, Islamic scholar, and professor. This research employs a literature study method with a systematic qualitative approach using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework. Data were collected from classical Islamic scholarly texts (kutub al-turāth) of early Muslim scholars as well as from research articles published between 2015 and 2023 in national and reputable international journals. The findings of this study conclude that: (1) the concept of learning objectives proposed by ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi primarily focuses on the development of the soul and moral character; however, other objectives remain essential and should not be neglected. These supporting objectives include maintaining a balance between worldly and hereafter interests, considering practical benefits, pursuing knowledge for its own sake, and emphasizing vocational and technical education as a means of earning a livelihood; (2) the concept of educators according to ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi is not limited to the enhancement of professional competence. Educators must also possess ideal moral qualities so that they are respected, obeyed, and able to serve as exemplary role models in both conduct and behavior; and (3) the concept of learners according to ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi emphasizes that learners possess both rights and obligations, which serve as guiding principles for Islamic education.

Abstract

The use of technology in education has now become a necessity, especially in efforts to improve the quality and effectiveness of the learning process. This study aims to design and develop an interactive learning model based on animation using Flash 8, which is designed to be engaging and effective for elementary school students, as well as to evaluate its impact on students’ motivation and learning outcomes. The main problem addressed is the lack of innovative and interactive learning media at the elementary level that can accommodate students’ visual and kinesthetic learning styles. This issue affects students’ enthusiasm and understanding of the concepts being taught. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research subjects are fifth-grade elementary school students, involving teachers and subject matter experts in the media development process. Data were collected through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning achievement tests. The development results show that the Flash 8 animation-based learning media demonstrate high levels of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The media validity score of 4.5 out of 5 reflects strong alignment between the content, design, curriculum, and characteristics of elementary students. In terms of practicality, the media were found to be easy to use by both teachers and students during trials, with positive responses from more than 85% of participants. The media’s effectiveness is evident from the increase in students’ learning motivation, indicated by greater participation and interest in learning activities. Thus, it can be concluded that the development of Flash 8-based animation learning media holds great potential for implementation at the elementary school level as a more engaging, interactive, and effective learning tool.
