Abstract

This research explores ecological and social transformation in the Americas with a focus on the impact of economic policies on the environment from the colonial era to the present. Through historical analysis, this research examines how economic policies implemented by colonial powers, governments, and the private sector have influenced the continent's natural ecosystems and social structures. It found that intensive exploitation of natural resources, the introduction of unsustainable agricultural practices, and rapid industrialization have resulted in significant environmental degradation, including deforestation, loss of biodiversity, and pollution. In addition, economic policies have also triggered profound social changes, such as mass migration, urbanization, and changes in society's work structure. This study highlights the importance of a more sustainable and inclusive economic approach to reduce negative impacts on the environment and society. Thus, this research provides important insights for policy makers in designing economic strategies that are more harmonious with ecological sustainability and social welfare.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of a large-scale boycott of United States products on the increase in unemployment in Indonesia. The boycott was driven by political tensions and controversial trade policies. Using quantitative analysis with secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), company financial reports, and labor market surveys, the research shows a significant impact on sectors dependent on United States products and investments. Declines in sales and production in affected companies led to layoffs and higher unemployment rates. The impact was more pronounced in regions with concentrated industries related to American products. The study concludes that the boycott contributed to higher unemployment in Indonesia, with varying impacts across sectors and regions. These findings suggest important implications for policymakers in mitigating the economic effects of boycotts and highlight the need for economic diversification to reduce reliance on specific imported products.

Abstract

This research discusses the history, development, and influence of the American franchise business in Indonesia. The first American franchise to enter Indonesia was Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) in 1979, paving the way for many other American brands. This study uses a qualitative approach with literature review and in-depth interviews with industry players to obtain a comprehensive picture of the evolution of franchise businesses in Indonesia. The results show that American franchises have grown rapidly due to stable economic growth, an increasing middle class, and lifestyle changes favoring convenience. Government support through adequate regulations has also encouraged this growth. However, challenges such as intense competition, adaptation to local tastes, and regulatory issues persist. Despite these challenges, American franchises remain appealing due to their strong brand reputation and proven business systems. The research concludes that American franchises have significantly transformed and continue to play an important role in Indonesia's economy, with substantial potential for future growth.

Abstract

This research analyzes the concept of character education from the perspectives of the Al-Qur'an, Muhammadiyah figures, and Muhammadiyah itself to offer comprehensive ideas about character education. Employing library research, primary sources include works by Muhammadiyah figures and other literature on character education. The findings reveal: 1) The Al-Qur'an advocates various aspects of character education, such as goodness (ihsan), virtues (al-birr), fulfilling promises (al-wafa), patience, honesty, reverence for Allah SWT, justice, and forgiveness, as seen in Surah An-Nahl verse 90 and Surah Al-Isra' verses 23-24. 2) Muhammadiyah figures like KH. Ahmad Dahlan emphasize cultivating Muslims with virtuous characters, broad perspectives, and societal commitment, while Syafi'i Ma'arif highlights the collaborative nature of character education involving educators, parents, teachers, and society. Muhammadiyah's commitment is evident through Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah (AIK) education across its institutions, aiming to develop an Indonesian society with superior traits such as being religious, moderate, intelligent, knowledgeable, independent, and cooperative.
