Abstract

This study investigates how Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) implementation reshapes organizational communication within the seven operational clusters of the Warung Tegal (Warteg) "Bahari" franchise in South Jakarta. While the network historically relied on informal coordination and manual bookkeeping, the introduction of ERP marks a strategic shift toward synchronized digital workflows. Using a qualitative descriptive design, data were gathered through in-depth interviews with 14 key informants, including franchisors, coordinators, and managers, alongside participant observations and document reviews. The findings reveal that ERP significantly enhances communication clarity and managerial transparency through real-time data flow and standardized reporting, effectively reducing the miscommunication common in manual systems. However, optimal implementation is hindered by critical barriers such as uneven digital literacy, limited training, and unstable internet connectivity. Furthermore, resistance to abandoning long-standing manual habits remains a challenge. The study concludes that while ERP provides a foundation for an accountable franchise model, its success depends on adaptive leadership and continuous digital capacity-building. These results offer practical insights for digital transformation in community-based culinary enterprises.

Abstract

Livelihood is an individual's effort to maintain and improve the sustainability of life, one of which is through entrepreneurial activities. This study aims to describe and understand the experiences of FKIP alumni in developing and maintaining businesses in Mendalo Indah, Muaro Jambi Regency, using a phenomenological case study approach with two informants. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation, then analyzed using NVivo to identify themes related to livelihood assets, namely human resources (education, skills, experience) and financial capital (initial capital, income). The results show that human resources play a major role as assets in business development and sustainability, particularly through the alumni's ability to interpret experiences, manage knowledge and skills, and adapt to business challenges. Financial capital functions as a supporting factor, but is relatively secondary. These findings confirm that the success of FKIP alumni businesses is determined more by the ability of individuals to manage and interpret livelihood assets adaptively in the local social and economic context, rather than by the amount of financial capital alone.

Abstract

Organizational behavior is the result of complex interactions between individuals within an organization and is an important factor in determining the dynamics and sustainability of the organization. This study aims to identify and understand organizational behavior in the Tani Village Unit Cooperative (KUD) in Tambang Emas Village, South Pamenang District, Merangin Regency in facing competition and the efforts made to develop its business. This study uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to explore the experiences and perspectives of the management. There were four informants, consisting of the Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Supervisor of the Cooperative. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, document studies, and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive analysis model that included data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and verification of findings. The results of the study show that KUD Tani experienced a significant decline in capital due to high member receivables and declining member trust in management, while pressure from external competitors further worsened business conditions. To overcome these problems, KUD Tani formed a special collection team, improved service quality, implemented competitive pricing strategies, and modernized its business and product innovation to strengthen member engagement. The implications of this study indicate that improving the credibility of management, strengthening financial management systems, and developing responsive service strategies are key to improving organizational performance and enhancing the competitiveness of KUDs amid increasingly fierce business competition.

Abstract

The impetus for this review is the gap in the strategic management literature concerning the presence, roles, and influence of Strategy Management Units (SMUs). This review aimed to identify what is known about SMUs, elaborate and synthesize previous findings, identify the theoretical foundation for SMUs, and propose future directions. For this purpose, a step-wise integrative literature review (ILR) is used to assess the existing literature. The framework used in this review is the ADO-TCM (Antecedents-Decisions-outcome and Theories-Context-Methods) approach. Using this approach, it was possible to explicate how theories such as the Resource-Based View could be used to provide explanations in SMU studies. Through a rigorous analysis of extant studies, it was possible to map three central thematic areas of SMU studies, namely: the factors that affect the units’ presence and organization, SMUs roles, and the units’ influence. The review also enabled us to identify the main roles of SMUs, such as overseeing the strategic management process, strategy formulation, business development, and so on. It is proposed that future studies focus on antecedents of SMUs’ presence and roles, the units' impact on several organizational outcomes, as well as the interlink between other related concepts.

Abstract

Integration-oriented omnichannel and multichannel retailing has gained prominence as retailers seek to deliver seamless customer journeys while coordinating store operations, inventory, and fulfillment across channels. Yet, prior studies remain dispersed across customer-centric research that emphasizes perceived integration quality and experiential outcomes and operations-centric work that models coordination decisions under cost and profitability objectives. This study aims to map the thematic structure and coverage gaps of integration-oriented omnichannel and multichannel retailing using bibliometric analysis focused on integration mechanisms and enabling conditions. Using Scopus-indexed English journal articles and reviews, records were screened to retain B2C retail or retail-like studies in which channel integration is the primary analytical focus. Performance analysis was conducted with Biblioshiny (bibliometrix) to produce standard, reproducible performance indicators, whereas science mapping employed VOSviewer to construct and cluster author keyword co-occurrence networks that reveal the domain’s thematic structure, using a lean cleaning strategy (minimal thesaurus and lean stopwords). The results reveal two partially connected regimes bridged most consistently by customer-facing operational mechanisms around omnichannel retailing, including BOPIS/click-and-collect, pickups, ship-from-store, and emerging cross-channel returns. In contrast, systems-level digital backbone and governance-related constructs appear weakly consolidated, indicating limited thematic development of integration enablers. The findings suggest that advancing the field requires moving beyond broad omnichannel labels toward auditable, mechanism-linked integration designs that connect customer outcomes, operational execution, and enabling capabilities.

Abstract

Political patronage and bureaucratic rigidity have weakened merit-based hiring in Nigeria’s public sector. This study therefore investigated the effect of recruitment and selection practices on the performance of selected civil service-regulated public sector organisations in Nigeria, using a quantitative cross-sectional survey design. Data were collected from 378 valid respondents drawn from federal Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Abuja via stratified random sampling and structured questionnaires. The findings revealed positive relationships between external recruitment practices and productivity, and between background/reference checks and productivity. The study’s novelty lies in its focus on the combined effect of these two recruitment and selection mechanisms within civil service-regulated organisations and its theoretical contribution to knowledge by extending Human Capital Theory to the underexplored context of Nigeria’s civil service, where regulatory frameworks, political patronage and lack of governance pre-employment verification are distinct constraints that shape talent acquisition outcomes. The practical implication of the study is that public sector organisations are to prioritise merit-based external recruitment practices and institutionalise comprehensive pre-employment background/reference checks into talent acquisition strategy for improved performance.
