Abstract

Work safety is a form of effort that aims to create a work environment that is safety and prevents various accidents. To improve work safety efforts, namely by using the correct Personal Protective Equipment according to applicable procedures. Personal Protective Equipment is work equipment that must be used by the crew when working on the ship. This study aims to examine the importance of the use of Personal Protective Equipment by ship crews during the discharging process. And also to find out the actions and efforts of ship officers to optimise the application of the use of personal protective equipment during discharging. The author uses a qualitative method with data collection techniques through data observation, interviews and finally documentation. The author examines how the application of Personal Protective Equipment during discharging to maintain crew safety on board MT NOLOWATI III. After conducting research and analysis, it is known that the use of personal protective equipment during the discharging process on the MT NOLOWATI III ship used by the crew does not meet the applicable standards as evidenced by several work accidents. The ship's officer's actions and efforts to optimise the implementation of the use of Personal Protective Equipment during loading and discharging have been optimised, but indeed the crew's awareness of the importance of safety culture is very low. This, needs to be given more optimal actions and efforts to the crew so that they can use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in order to realise and improve safety for themselves, and others

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the export growth of Indonesia's leading specialized products. A sample of this study was selected by identifying every commodity that holds more than a 25% share in the international market. The five specialized products also represent Indonesia's leading sectors, which include the manufacturing industry (palm oil, HS Code: 151190, and coconut oil, HS Code: 151319), agricultural products (rubber, HS Code: 400122), and natural resources (coal, HS Code: 270119, and tin, HS Code: 800110). The analytical model was tested on Indonesia's leading products in 15 importing countries during the 2010-2020 period and estimated using PPML and GMM as a robustness test. The ICT variable was proxied by bandwidth capacity, which represents the quality of internet access, both in Indonesia as an exporting country and in importing countries for Indonesia's leading products. The results of the analysis indicate that the quality of internet access has a positive impact on export growth. Additionally, other control variables, such as GDP, population, RTA, language, and importers from Asia, also have a positive impact on the export growth of Indonesia's leading commodities. It can be concluded that Indonesia’s export pattern remains concentrated in Asia's partner countries, driven by economies of scale and hindered by geographical distance. This study suggests that the development of ICT is typically a long-term process, so it takes some time to experience the significant impact of ICT, especially on exports.

Abstract

This study examines the influence of familiarity bias and confirmation bias on investment decisions, with financial literacy as a moderating factor, involving 293 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Klabat. The findings indicate that familiarity bias significantly affects investment decisions, meaning that the tendency to choose familiar investments influences students' financial choices. Conversely, confirmation bias does not have a significant effect, suggesting that the inclination to focus solely on information that aligns with personal beliefs has a limited impact on their investment decisions. Additionally, the findings reveal that financial literacy reduces the influence of familiarity bias, enabling students to make rational decisions. However, financial literacy does not moderate the relationship between confirmation bias and investment decisions. This study underscores the importance of financial literacy in formal education. Integrating comprehensive financial literacy materials into the curriculum could help students mitigate investment biases and enhance the quality of their financial decisions, especially in a complex economic environment.

Abstract

The changing global business landscape has placed human capital as one of the strategic elements in creating competitive advantage and improving organisational performance. In this context, understanding the role of human capital on value creation and its impact on financial performance has become increasingly relevant. This study aims to review and synthesise the literature that discusses the relationship between human capital, value creation, and financial performance through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. This type of research is descriptive qualitative that relies on secondary data from scientific articles published in the period 2009-2024. The literature analysed was selected from reputable databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, using a purposive sampling technique, with a total of 60 articles that met the inclusion criteria. The location and time of the study were not geographically limited due to the global nature of the literature. The results of the analysis show that human capital directly and indirectly affects financial performance, through a value creation mechanism that includes innovation, efficiency, and optimisation of internal processes. The effectiveness of the relationship is also influenced by various contextual factors such as organisational strategy, work culture, and industry dynamics. The implications of these findings drive the importance of strategically integrating human capital development with value creation processes to sustainably improve organisational financial performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of organisational ethical climate and ethics training on whistleblowing intentions of local government accounting staff based on the Ethical Climate Theory proposed by Victor and Cullen (1988), as well as the moderating effect of ethics training on the relationship between ethical climate and whistleblowing intentions. Using data collected through a questionnaire survey with direct mailing method to 63 employees working in the accounting and assets department in the Regional Financial Management Agency in 3 regencies/cities in Papua Province, Indonesia. This study found that ethical climate and ethics training influence whistleblowing intentions. However, ethics training did not strengthen the relationship between ethical climate and whistleblowing intentions. These findings support the Ethical Climate Theory. Practically, this study suggests that increasing whistleblowing intentions by LG accounting staff can be achieved by improving the ethical climate within the organisation and supporting accounting staff to attend ethics training.

Abstract

This study investigates the key factors influencing consumer purchasing decisions through e-commerce applications in North Minahasa Regency, Indonesia. While prior research has largely concentrated on national and urban markets, limited empirical evidence exists regarding consumer behavior in regional contexts. Addressing this gap, the study employs an exploratory factor analysis approach using data collected from 152 respondents who meet specific e-commerce usage criteria. Principal component analysis revealed four dominant factors affecting purchasing decisions: Shopping Convenience, Technological Advancement, Attractive Features, and Social Influence. These factors together explain 70.92% of the total variance in consumer decision-making. Shopping Convenience emerged as the most influential, highlighting the importance of trust, security, and ease of use. The findings provide valuable insights for both academia and e-commerce stakeholders, particularly in optimizing marketing strategies and platform development to suit regional consumer needs. Limitations include geographical scope, sample diversity, and platform generalization. Future research is recommended to explore a broader demographic and additional influencing variables, such as environmental or technological innovations.
