Abstract

Health insurance provides financial protection against health risks, yet disputes over claim denial remain frequent in Indonesia. This study analyzes the legal basis of health insurance claim rejection, identifies the principal causes of disputes, and examines legal protection available to policyholders. A normative juridical method was applied through statutory and conceptual approaches using legislation, legal doctrine, scientific literature, and relevant regulatory materials. The analysis shows that claim denials commonly arise from incomplete medical documentation, pre-existing-condition clauses, waiting periods, policy exclusions, and differences in the interpretation of medical necessity between hospitals and insurers. The contractual imbalance between insurers and policyholders, combined with limited transparency of policy terms, can intensify disputes. Existing protection is grounded in contract law, consumer protection law, insurance regulation, and Financial Services Authority rules, but implementation requires greater consistency. Stronger disclosure standards, standardized medical-necessity criteria, digitalized claim verification, and effective complaint and dispute-resolution mechanisms are required to improve fairness, transparency, and legal certainty in Indonesian health insurance services.

Abstract

Employee performance in port services depends on leadership that can mobilize people and on organizational values that guide consistent work behavior. This study examines the influence of transformational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance at PT Pelindo Multi Terminal. A quantitative causal survey was conducted using questionnaire data from 88 employees selected from a population of 711 employees. The data were analyzed with validity and reliability testing, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, the coefficient of determination, the F-test, and partial t-tests. Transformational leadership had a positive and significant effect on employee performance (B = 0.421; t = 4.833; p < 0.001), while organizational culture also had a positive and significant effect (B = 0.355; t = 3.901; p < 0.001). Simultaneously, both variables significantly explained employee performance, with R-square = 0.518. The findings show that inspirational leadership, employee support, shared values, effective communication, and consistent work norms are complementary organizational mechanisms for improving performance in a multipurpose terminal environment.

Abstract

Digital transformation has changed how fashion consumers search for information, evaluate alternatives, and make purchases, requiring small and medium enterprises to align market strategy with digital channels. This study analyzes the effects of segmentation, targeting, and positioning on purchasing decisions, both directly and through digitalization, at NBL Mode in Medan. A quantitative associative design was applied to 168 consumers selected according to indicator-based sample adequacy. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results show that segmentation, targeting, and positioning positively and significantly affect both digitalization and purchasing decisions. Digitalization also has a positive and significant effect on purchasing decisions and significantly mediates the effects of all three marketing strategy variables. The model explains 39.8% of digitalization and 52.2% of purchasing decisions. These findings indicate that precise market selection, differentiated positioning, and stronger digital service quality should be integrated to increase purchase conversion and support sustainable competitiveness for fashion SMEs.

Abstract

This study endeavors to scrutinize the criminal liability pertinent to the misuse of personal data as adjudicated in Decision Number 628/Pid.Sus/2020/PN.Btm and Decision Number 541/Pid.Sus/2022/PN.Mdn, specifically evaluated through the lens of the digital evidentiary system. Furthermore, it analyzes the congruence of this evidentiary framework with the evidentiary stipulations delineated in Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code (the new KUHAP). The methodology employed is normative legal research, utilizing both a statutory approach and a case approach. Data analysis was executed qualitatively by meticulously processing and interpreting legal materials via a descriptive-analytical methodology. The findings reveal a discernible variance in interpretation and the trajectory of judicial reasoning (ratio decidendi) when appraising elements of unlawful acts, mens rea, and the probative value of electronic evidence within cybercrime adjudications. These divergent approaches are precipitated by a confluence of normative, juridical (case construction), and non-juridical variables. Ultimately, this comparative analysis elucidates the dichotomy between normative ideals (das Sollen) and judicial realities (das Sein), proposing recommendations for standardized legal enforcement to safeguard legal certainty and equity in the digital epoch.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the non-physical work environment and work-life balance on the productivity of operational employees at Coffeenatics. The methodology employed is mixed methods with a sequential explanatory approach, where the quantitative phase involved 40 employees using saturated sampling (census), and the qualitative phase utilized in-depth interviews with three key informants from the Bar, Kitchen, and Floor departments. Quantitative data were tested using multiple linear regression analysis via SPSS, while qualitative data were processed through thematic analysis. Statistical result indicate that, partially, the non-physical work environment has a positive but non-significant effect on productivity (p=0.057 > 0.05) because daily output is primarily dictated by standardized SOPs and order volume rather than social proximity. Conversely, work-life balance shows a significant positive influence (p=0.038 < 0.05) as the assurance of rest time and physical recovery is crucial for shift workers to maintain mental focus and minimize human error. Simultaneously, both variables significantly affect productivity with a contribution (R-Square) of 42%, while the remaining 58% is influenced by other external factors. This research concludes that the synergy between physical-mental fitness through life balance and emotional support in the workplace is the fundamental pillar in optimizing operational efficiency within the specialty coffee industry.

Abstract

The crime of murder is the most serious offense in criminal law because it directly violates the most fundamental human right, namely the right to life. One of the motives that often underlies premeditated murder is adultery, which triggers emotional conflict, jealousy, and revenge. This study aims to analyze the elements of premeditated murder and the criminal liability of perpetrators in cases of premeditated murder motivated by adultery based on the Medan District Court Decision of the State of Medan Number 1100/Pid.B/2024/PN.Mdn. The author uses a normative juridical legal research method with a legislative approach, a conceptual approach, and a case approach. The legal materials used include primary, secondary, and tertiary legal materials, which are analyzed qualitatively and normatively. Adultery as a motive cannot be used as a justification or excuse, but in judicial practice it can influence the judge's consideration in imposing a sentence. The verdict imposing a prison sentence of 12 years shows that the judge considered the emotional aspects and background of the perpetrator, even though this has sparked debate regarding the fulfillment of the principles of justice, legal certainty, and benefit.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) require reliable financial information to evaluate performance and support business decisions, yet many still rely on simple cash records. This study examines the existing bookkeeping practice of UD Ikan Asin SG and applies the Financial Accounting Standards for Micro, Small, and Medium Entities (SAK EMKM) to reconstruct its financial statements. A descriptive qualitative approach was used. Primary data were obtained through interviews with the owner, direct observation, and documentation of cash-in and cash-out records, while secondary data were drawn from relevant literature. The findings show that the business had not implemented SAK EMKM and recorded only basic receipts and expenditures. Based on the available records, the SAK EMKM-based reconstruction reported total assets of Rp1,552,000,000, sales of Rp360,000,000, cost of goods sold of Rp265,000,000, total operating expenses of Rp62,000,000, and profit of Rp33,000,000 for December 2023. The study demonstrates that structured financial statements can improve the visibility of assets, equity, operating results, and accounting policies, although limited accounting knowledge and the absence of professional accounting personnel remain major implementation constraints.

Abstract

This study examines how the documentary film Gendang Nafiri: Menyuarakan Kembali Warisan yang Terlupakan constructs Gendang Nafiri as Malay cultural heritage. Using a qualitative approach and Stuart Hall’s theory of representation, the study treats scenes, dialogue, voice-over narration, visual composition, music, sound, cultural symbols, and generational relations as representational language. The primary data source is the documentary film published by BRIN Audiovisual in 2026, while scholarly literature on documentary film, cultural representation, and the Nafiri tradition serves as secondary data. The analysis focuses on six representational themes: Gendang Nafiri as cultural heritage, the threat of cultural loss, the authority of cultural actors, generational transmission, negotiation with modernity, and the movement of tradition from customary spaces to digital media. The study argues that the documentary does not merely record a traditional musical practice; it constructs Gendang Nafiri as a cultural sign associated with Malay identity, collective memory, and the urgency of preservation.

Abstract

Fraud in financial management is one of the risks that frequently arises in manufacturing companies and can undermine the integrity of financial statements and stakeholder trust. This study aims to analyze the effect of internal control on fraud prevention and to examine the role of business ethics as a mediating variable at PT Wahana Interfood Nusantara Tbk. The research employs a quantitative approach using the Structural Equation Modeling Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to 50 respondents involved in finance, accounting, and operational functions, and subsequently analyzed using measurement models and structural models. The results indicate that internal control has a positive and significant effect on fraud prevention. Furthermore, internal control is proven to have a positive and significant effect on business ethics, and business ethics also has a positive and significant effect on fraud prevention. Another important finding is that business ethics is able to mediate the effect of internal control on fraud prevention, thereby strengthening the relationship between these two variables. This suggests that the effectiveness of internal control is not only determined by the systems and procedures implemented by the company but also heavily depends on the ethical values and integrity of the employees who execute them.
