Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of rewarding in improving the writing ability of deaf children in grade 1 of SLB B Pangudi Luhur, West Jakarta. The method used is Class Action Research (PTK) with three cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 10 deaf students aged 6-8 years. Data was collected through observation, writing tests, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively, quantitatively, and qualitatively. The results showed that giving rewards in the form of verbal compliments, stickers, and small gifts succeeded in improving students' writing skills, with the average score increasing from 39 in the pre-cycle to 83 in the 3rd cycle. In addition, the number of students who achieved completeness also increased significantly, from 2 students (20%) in the pre-cycle to 8 students (80%) in the 3rd cycle. The implications of this study suggest that rewarding can motivate deaf students to be more active in learning and help them overcome difficulties in writing. Therefore, giving rewards can be used as an effective strategy in learning to write for children with special needs, especially in special schools (SLB). This study also suggests the application of a more individualized and consistent approach to support student development more optimally.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and analyze the application of teachers’ pedagogical competencies in managing a safe and comfortable learning environment, managing effective student-centered learning, and managing assessments, feedback, and reporting oriented to the needs of students at SMA Negeri 1 Biak Kota. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation studies, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification stages. Data validity was assessed through triangulation and peer discussions. The results showed that teachers had applied pedagogical competencies well, as reflected in the management of a conducive learning environment, the use of innovative learning strategies and methods appropriate to student needs, and the implementation of assessments and feedback to improve learning outcomes. A good pedagogical application was supported by continuous coaching, peer and principal support, teacher professional awareness, and the availability of learning facilities. However, limitations in learning design, low motivation for self-development, and a lack of facilities and infrastructure remain obstacles. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen aspects of learning innovation, including by improving training programs and providing supporting facilities to strengthen teachers’ pedagogical competencies on an ongoing basis.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are among the foremost essential competencies in 21st-century education, playing a crucial role in effective decision-making and systematic problem-solving. This study aimed to analyze the impact of implementing Problem-Based Learning (PBL) to enhance critical thinking skills of elementary school students in Indonesian language learning. The method employed is a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA protocol, encompassing the identification, screening, and analysis of relevant studies. The findings revealed that PBL significantly improves students’ abilities in analysis, logical reasoning, evaluation, and argument construction. Beyond cognitive skills, PBL also enhances social skills such as communication and collaboration within the learning process. Challenges faced in PBL implementation include limited time, teacher preparedness, and curriculum demands. Overall, PBL proves to be an effective and relevant instructional approach for cultivating critical thinking skills, particularly in Indonesian language education at the elementary level. These findings support the adoption of PBL in teaching practices to create more meaningful, student-centered learning experiences.

Abstract

This study aimed to optimize learning effectiveness in the Food and Nutrition Data Analysis course through the development of literacy-oriented teaching materials with a Quantum Teaching approach. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model: Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The Define stage involved a needs analysis of 60 nutrition students, revealing that 88.5% required interactive teaching materials with step-by-step practical guidance. In the Develop stage, the teaching materials were validated by content and media experts, yielding scores of 91.25% and 89.50%, respectively, which fall into the “very feasible” category. The Disseminate stage involved limited implementation in one class, showing an increase in average student engagement scores from 73.40 to 88.20 and comprehension test scores from 71.85 to 87.45. These findings demonstrate that the developed materials effectively enhance student participation and mastery of data analysis concepts. This innovation addresses the gap in practical-oriented learning resources for nutrition students, aligning with curriculum demands and 21st-century learning skills. The developed materials are expected to improve competence in analyzing food and nutrition data, thereby supporting academic success and professional readiness.

Abstract

This research explores the integration of Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT) with authentic texts in the Advanced Reading course to address the need for more contextual and critical approaches in EFL instruction. The research aims to examine how this combination enhances students’ critical thinking, contextual understanding, and engagement in reading activities. Employing a descriptive quantitative design supported by survey data from 49 students, the study analyzed learners’ perceptions after being exposed to TBLT using authentic materials. Findings reveal that 73.5% of students agreed that discussing authentic texts improved their critical thinking, 75% believed the TBLT approach enhanced communication and collaboration, and 77.5% felt more responsible for their own learning. However, 51.1% considered the method time-consuming and challenging. Overall, the integration of TBLT and authentic texts proved effective in promoting communicative competence, cultural awareness, and learner autonomy. The study concludes that authentic materials can create meaningful, real-world learning experiences when guided through task-based instruction. It recommends continuous teacher training and context-sensitive adaptation to optimize the implementation of TBLT in EFL classrooms.

Abstract

This study investigates how Customer Relationship Orientation (CRO) and Digital Banking Orientation (DBO) influence Marketing Performance (MP) in Bank BJB, with Marketing Research and Development Cooperation (MRDC) as a moderating variable. Distinct from prior studies, this research introduces an educational perspective emphasizing how marketing staff empowerment through education, digital literacy, and continuous learning strengthens organizational adaptability and competence. Using a quantitative explanatory method, data were collected from 316 marketing personnel proportionally selected from 1,762 employees across Bank BJB’s regional branches. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings reveal that both CRO and DBO significantly enhance marketing performance, demonstrating that customer-focused and digitally adaptive strategies are essential for sustaining competitiveness in the banking sector. Moreover, MRDC strengthens these relationships by facilitating the translation of customer insights and technological innovation into more effective marketing strategies. The findings suggest that education-based empowerment, including training in digital banking systems, customer analytics, and R&D collaboration, is vital to develop marketing competence. Therefore, organizational learning and educational interventions should be institutionalized to foster innovation, responsiveness, and long-term performance in the banking sector.

Abstract

Improving the quality of education in schools requires a sustainable and participatory strategy. Kaizen, known as a philosophy of continuous improvement in the industrial world, has the potential to be applied in the educational context. This study aims to explore how Kaizen principles can be adapted as a strategy to improve the quality of education in schools. Through a qualitative case study of an Integrated Islamic School that combines science and Islamic values, this study reveals that the implementation of Kaizen principles supported by the 5S concept, collective participation (teachers, students, and parents), effective leadership, regular evaluation, continuous improvement, and collaboration positively influences work culture and enhances the quality of educational services. These outcomes are facilitated through the use of PDCA, Gemba Walk, Kaizen Event, and the Suggestion System. The conclusion of this study suggests that Kaizen can be an effective strategy in creating an adaptive, participatory, and continuous improvement-oriented education system.
