Abstract

Introduction and Method Effective learning methods can enhance student engagement and accelerate the learning process. Among regular students who utilize the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) method, more than 80% actively participate in organizations and achieve accomplishments outside the academic field. In contrast, non-regular students, who are taught using conventional methods, do not gain any additional outputs beyond their work experience. Due to the monotonous nature of the conventional method, non-regular students tend to be passive listeners, resulting in a lack of interactivity. This study aims to describe students’ perceptions of the Student-Centered Learning and conventional methods in the Nursing Management course in the Bachelor of Nursing program at STIKES Dharma Husada. This research employs a descriptive historical approach with a retrospective study design. The sample consists of 87 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire comprising 15 questions. Results The majority of regular students (67.1%) considered the SCL method effective, while 32.9% rated it as very effective. Among non-regular students, 90.9% found the method effective, and 9.1% considered it very effective. Overall, most students, both regular and non-regular (70.1%), perceived this learning method as very effective, while 32.9% rated it as effective. Conclusion and Recommendations Students’ perceptions of the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) method in the Nursing Management course at STIKES Dharma Husada indicate that most regular and non-regular students find this learning method effective. Future research should consider conducting further studies with similar sample characteristics and exploring the relationship between learning methods and perceptions of other nursing courses. For the Bachelor of Nursing program, it is recommended to simplify and develop learning methods to further enhance the quality of education, particularly in the Nursing Management course. Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study examines students' perceptions of the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) method in the Nursing Management course. This article contributes to SDG Goal 4, which aims to Ensure Inclusive and Equitable Quality Education and Promote Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All. Specifically, it aligns with Target 4.3, which, by 2030, seeks to ensure equal access for all women and men to affordable and quality technical, vocational, and higher education, including university education. Furthermore, the outcomes of this study can contribute to the achievement of SDG Goal 3 on ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all at all ages.

Abstract

Introduction and Methods The door-to-door COVID-19 vaccination strategy requires adequate distribution facilities, such as vehicles and specialized storage to ensure vaccine quality. Additionally, vaccination officers play a crucial role in distributing vaccines to the community. Yakkum Emergency Unit (YEU) has consistently carried out vaccination efforts targeting high-risk groups in several regions using the door-to-door system to accelerate the process and reach more individuals in need. This method allows vaccinations to be administered directly at participants' homes. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing COVID-19 vaccination officers in distributing vaccines to the community through the door-to-door method. It is a cross-sectional study with a retrospective approach, collecting data online from vaccination officers. A total of 28 vaccinators were involved as research samples, selected using a total sampling technique. Results The study identified four factors examined in the distribution of COVID-19 vaccines using the door-to-door method. Three factors significantly influenced the vaccination activity: knowledge, willingness, and preparation. However, one factor, vaccine quality, showed no significant influence. Conclusion and Recommendations The study concludes that the willingness of healthcare workers is crucial for the success of COVID-19 vaccination efforts. Achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study aims to identify the factors influencing vaccination officers in the distribution of vaccines using the mobile vaccination (jemput bola) method. This article contributes to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Ensuring Healthy Lives and Promoting Well-being for All at All Ages. Specifically, it aligns with Target 3.b, which focuses on supporting research and development of vaccines and medicines for both communicable and non-communicable diseases, particularly those affecting developing countries, and ensuring affordable access to essential medicines and vaccines.

Abstract

Introduction and Methods Iron deficiency anemia in pregnant women can contribute to high maternal and infant mortality rates. The high prevalence of anemia among pregnant women may be influenced by their motivation and adherence to consuming iron supplements. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between motivation and adherence in consuming iron tablets among pregnant women at Johar Baru Health Center, Central Jakarta. A descriptive correlational quantitative design was used with a cross-sectional approach. Data collected through questionnaires and analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis. The Kendall’s Tau B statistical test was employed. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, resulting in 52 respondents. Results The univariate analysis showed the following respondent characteristics: aged 20–35 years (90.4%), high school to college education level (84.6%), in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy (100%), and multigravida (63.5%). Most respondents had high motivation to consume iron supplements (71.2%) and a good level of adherence (67.3%). The Kendall’s Tau B test showed a p-value < 0.05, indicating a significant relationship between motivation and adherence to iron tablet consumption among pregnant women. Conclusion and Recommendation Motivation plays a crucial role in improving adherence to iron tablet consumption among pregnant women. It is recommended to provide continuous education about the importance of iron supplementation during pregnancy. Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study aims to explore the factors associated with iron tablet consumption among pregnant women. The article contributes to the third SDG goal: ensuring healthy lives and promoting well-being for all ages. Specifically, it supports target 3.1: by 2030, reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births.

Abstract

The availability of unhealthy snacks in school environments poses a challenge in efforts to improve children's nutritional quality and prevent stunting. Utilizing locally available nutrient-rich food sources, such as sea urchin gonads (Diadema setosum), can serve as a safe and nutritious alternative for school snacks. This community engagement initiative aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of housewives, school canteen operators, and Posyandu (integrated health post) cadres in processing sea urchin gonads into healthy snacks for school children. The training involved 20 participants from Waworaha and Soropia Villages, Soropia District, Konawe Regency. The methods employed included lectures, discussions, and demonstrations on the preparation of locally sourced nugget and siomay. Evaluation results indicated an average increase of 30% in participants' knowledge scores based on pre-test and post-test assessments. Participants also demonstrated the ability to apply the skills acquired during the training. This initiative not only raises awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition but also promotes the utilization of local resources as part of food diversification efforts. Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This initiative contributes to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Target 3.4, which aims to reduce mortality from non-communicable diseases and promote mental health through prevention and health promotion efforts. Overall, this activity aligns with SDG Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which seeks to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages. Additionally, this initiative supports SDG Goal 2: Zero Hunger, particularly Targets 2.1 and 2.2, which focus on improving food security and ensuring balanced nutrition, including stunting prevention among children.

Abstract

Introduction and Methods Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that can affect various organs and bodily systems over time, leading to complications. These complications may be classified as microvascular or macrovascular. Microvascular complications include neuropathy (nerve damage), nephropathy (kidney damage), and retinopathy (eye damage). Diabetes mellitus with complications can become a lifelong condition and may significantly impact the quality of life of both the individual and their family. This study aimed to examine the quality of life among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with and without complications at Griya Antapani Primary Health Center. The study employed a quantitative, observational analytic design. A total of 56 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Data on patients' quality of life were collected using the Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) instrument and an observation sheet. Data analysis was conducted using the Wilcoxon test. Results Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a P-value of 0.032. Among the 56 respondents, 24 individuals (42.9%) had complications, while 32 individuals (57.1%) did not. Among those with complications, only 7 individuals (12.5%) reported a good quality of life, while 17 individuals (30.4%) experienced a poor quality of life. In contrast, all patients without complications (32 individuals or 57.1%) reported a good quality of life. None of the patients without complications reported a poor quality of life. Overall, 69.6% of respondents had a good quality of life, while 30.4% had a poor quality of life. Conclusion and Recommendations Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who experience complications tend to have a poorer quality of life compared to those without complications. The statistical analysis confirms a notable difference in the quality of life between these two groups. Future studies are encouraged to further explore the influence of patient characteristics such as age, sex, educational background, lifestyle, body mass index, and marital status, while also specifying the types of complications experienced by individuals with diabetes mellitus. Contribution to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) This study contributes to understanding the impact of type 2 diabetes mellitus complications on patients' quality of life. The findings support Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages. Specifically, the study aligns with target 3.4: to reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment, and to promote mental health and well-being. This corresponds to Indonesia's national indicator 3.4.1(a), which tracks mortality due to cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, or chronic respiratory diseases.

Abstract

IntroductionThe use of red betel leaf decoction among women of reproductive age experiencing symptoms of vaginal discharge has shown a significant decrease in symptoms. This is due to the presence of eugenol in red betel leaves, which has antifungal and analgesic properties, and tannins that help reduce vaginal secretions. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of red betel leaf decoction in treating vaginal discharge in women living in Mekar Jaya Village, Tirta Harja Health Center, Muara Sugihan District, Banyuasin Regency.MethodThis research employed a quasi-experimental design with intervention and control groups. The independent variable in this study was red betel leaf decoction, while the dependent variable was the alleviation of vaginal discharge. The total number of respondents was 80, and total sampling was used to determine the sample size.ResultsThe statistical test showed that the Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value was 0.00. Since 0.00 < 0.05, the hypothesis is accepted, indicating a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in terms of the healing of vaginal discharge. This implies that red betel leaf decoction is effective in treating vaginal discharge in women. Conclusion and RecommendationThe findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for women experiencing vaginal discharge, suggesting that red betel leaf decoction can be considered a non-pharmacological treatment option.

Abstract

IntroductionPineapple juice is known to have antibacterial properties that become more potent with higher concentrations. One of its active components, the enzyme bromelain, also functions as a natural antiseptic. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of pineapple juice in treating vaginal discharge among women in Kelurahan Jalur Mulya, under the jurisdiction of Puskesmas Tirtaharja, Muara Sugihan District, Banyuasin Regency. MethodsThis study employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an intervention group and a control group. The independent variable was the administration of pineapple juice, while the dependent variable was the occurrence of vaginal discharge. A total of 100 respondents participated, divided equally into 50 in the intervention group and 50 in the control group. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square statistical test. ResultsThe analysis showed an Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.602. Since this value is greater than 0.05, the null hypothesis is accepted. This indicates that pineapple juice does not have a statistically significant effect in treating vaginal discharge among the women studied. Conclusion and RecommendationsBased on the findings, pineapple juice is not recommended as a treatment for vaginal discharge during active symptoms. However, it is also not identified as a food that triggers the condition, making it safe to consume under normal circumstances. These results are expected to serve as a reference for the public in making informed dietary choices when experiencing mild reproductive health issues such as vaginal discharge.

Abstract

BackgroundThe green betel leaf plant is known for its natural antiseptic properties, making it a promising candidate for non-pharmacological therapy in treating vaginal discharge. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of boiled green betel leaf extract in managing vaginal discharge among women in the working area of Salembaran Jaya Public Health Center, Rawa Burung Village, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency, in 2023. MethodsThis research employed a quasi-experimental design with two groups: an intervention group and a control group. The independent variable was the administration of boiled green betel leaf extract, while the dependent variable was the occurrence of vaginal discharge. A total of 138 respondents were involved, evenly divided into 69 participants in each group. Data were analyzed using the Chi-square statistical test. ResultsThe statistical analysis revealed an Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.00. Since this value is less than 0.05, the alternative hypothesis is accepted. This indicates a significant difference between the intervention and control groups in the treatment of vaginal discharge. Thus, boiled green betel leaf extract is proven to be effective in addressing vaginal discharge in women. Conclusion and RecommendationsBoiled green betel leaf extract can be considered a viable non-pharmacological treatment option for vaginal discharge. The findings of this study are expected to serve as a reference for women experiencing this condition, encouraging the use of green betel leaf decoction as a natural and safe remedy.

Abstract

IntroductionDental caries is one of the most common oral health problems among children, primarily resulting from dietary patterns that include frequent consumption of sugary foods high in glucose and sucrose. Chocolate and other cariogenic foods are considered major risk factors that warrant attention. This study aims to investigate the relationship between the level of chocolate consumption and the frequency of cariogenic food intake with the incidence of dental caries among children at Al-Ikhlas Kindergarten in Kedung Dalem Village, Mauk District, Tangerang Regency, Banten. MethodsThis study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 50 children selected through total sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires administered through interviews with both parents and children. The data were then analyzed using the Chi-square test to determine the relationship between the variables. ResultsThe findings revealed no statistically significant relationship between the level of chocolate consumption and the incidence of dental caries (p = 0.851). Although a considerable number of children who frequently consumed chocolate experienced moderate caries, the distribution was not statistically meaningful. In contrast, a highly significant relationship was found between the frequency of cariogenic food consumption and the incidence of dental caries (p = 0.000). Children with high-frequency consumption of cariogenic foods were more likely to experience moderate caries, while those with low-frequency consumption mostly did not develop caries. Conclusion and RecommendationsThe frequency of cariogenic food consumption significantly influences the incidence of dental caries in children, whereas chocolate consumption alone does not show a meaningful effect. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for parents in managing children's dietary habits to prevent early onset of dental caries.
