Abstract

The prevalence of prediabetes (preDM) in Indonesia is increasing, posing a significant risk for developing Diabetes Mellitus (DM). The American Diabetes Association (ADA) predicts that approximately 70% of individuals with preDM will progress to diabetes. Globally, the number of people with DM is projected to reach 693 million by 2045. In 2019, Bandung City reported 45,430 individuals with DM. Prediabetes management necessitates a comprehensive approach, including lifestyle modifications such as increased physical activity, exercise, and dietary control. This study aimed to investigate the effect of a combined walking and deep breathing relaxation exercise program (JAKARENA) on blood glucose levels in individuals with preDM. This analytical study employed a quasi-experimental design with a Non-equivalent Group Pre-test-Post-test design. The population comprised adults with preDM, with 46 participants selected through purposive sampling and divided into intervention and control groups. Data analysis utilized the Independent T-test. Results demonstrated that the mean baseline blood glucose level in the control group (108.39 mg/dl) was lower than that of the intervention group (111.00 mg/dl). Post-intervention, the control group exhibited a slight increase in blood glucose levels (109.65 mg/dl), whereas the intervention group experienced a significant decrease (102.75 mg/dl). The statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.001, indicating a statistically significant effect of JAKARENA on reducing blood glucose levels in individuals with preDM. Conclusion: JAKARENA exercise demonstrates the potential to effectively lower blood glucose levels in individuals with preDM and can be recommended as a valuable community-based intervention to mitigate the progression of preDM to DM.

Abstract

Indonesia is home to a diversity of herbal plants, particularly in Aceh. Moringa oleifera is traditional medicinal plant utilized by locals in the geothermal area Aceh Besar, recognized for its anti-inflammatory properties. However, the bioactive compounds in M. oleifera leaves sourced from Ie Seum have not been documented, making it challenging to explain the roles of the compounds scientifically to anti-inflammatory factors. This research aimed to identify the phytochemical compounds in the ethanol extract of M. oleifera leaves (referred to as EDM) and analyze the physicochemical characteristics of the soil in the geothermal area. This study used a qualitative design to identify EDM compounds with GC-MS and soil physicochemistry. The identification of EDM compounds is conducted through gas chromatography with mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The physicochemical properties of the soil are assessed by examining its texture, pH, organic carbon content, total nitrogen, exchangeable cations, and phosphorus. Sample collection on  topsoil (0-20 cm) with an area of 100cmx100cm on one land where M. oleifera plants grow in Ie Seum area in September 2024. A soil sample of 500g was using several methods, namely the hydrometermethod, pH meter, Walkey and Black, ammonium acetate 1M pH 7, Kjeldahl, KCl 1N, Bray 1, HCl 25%, and DTPA extraction. The soil test result showed classified as silty clay. The results GC-MS indicated the presence 11 metabolites, including linolenic acid, phytol, 9,12,15-octadecatrienoic acid ethyl ester, hexadecanoic acid, neophytadiene, gamma-tocopherol, vitamin E, squalene, icosane, and beta-pinene. EDM from the Ie Seum contains compounds that are beneficial in anti-inflammatory.

Abstract

Hyperlipidemia is currently suffered by many people, including those individuals who regularly donate blood. Hyperlipidemia occurs due to an unhealthy lifestyle. It was found that there was a decrease in the quality of donor blood, including a change in plasma color to a milky white, cloudy appearance known as lipemia, as well as a decrease in the function of platelet and erythrocyte components. The aim of this study was to determine the impact of hyperlipidemia in blood donors on the blood produced. This systematic literature review follows PRISMA guidelines, with article collection carried out using basic data from Science Direct, PubMed, Google Scholar, Research Gate and Sage Journal. The articles used were limited to publication years between 2014 and 2024. In this research, 7 articles were found that were suitable and selected. The results of this study show that there are several factors that cause an individual to experience hyperlipidemia, one of the factors that has a big influence is diet. In this study, it was discovered that donors with hyperlipidemia were more likely to produce blood products that had high levels of fat, in which case the plasma blood component became lipemic and level of hemolysis during storage was higher. Apart from that, hyperlipidemia also affects other blood products, namely the platelet component, which can produce platelets that have abnormalities in platelet composition and function. The impact of hyperlipidemia should not be ignored, better donor screening can provide better quality control to reduce the risk of this occurring.

Abstract

Reproductive and sexual health services for brides-to-be are not evenly distributed at global, national, and regional levels. There are still problems of disparity, quality, and accessibility. The unavailability of policies that regulate the implementation of services is the main obstacle to program implementation. This service is important to reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy complications. The government has made efforts to address this through reproductive and sexual health services for cats by improving quality standards and accessibility of services. The study aimed to analyze the implementation of the Reproductive and Sexual Health KIE program for Brides-to-be. This study was a qualitative phenomenological research with the evaluation of the Stuflebeam model program that describes the effectiveness and efficiency of the program holistically. A sample of 16 people was taken by purposive sampling. The data was analyzed with SWOT analysis which became the subject of discussion by the panelists in the decision-making strategy. This research found an important theme, namely the absence of policies that significantly affect the implementation of the program. The results of the SWOT analysis are known to place the organization's position in quadrant 1, a strategy taken by the growth oriented strategy through the innovative model of Catin Sehat Bahagia, Generasi Hebat, Indonesia Maju which supports the pillar of primary service transformation to strengthen preventive promotive activities. Reproductive health services are in a favorable situation, local governments need to develop clear and structured regulations to strengthen the KIE program. Supportive policies will improve access to reproductive health information research.
