Abstract

The advisory issued by the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of West Sumatra in September 2024, recommending Muslims to withhold zakat from BAZNAS Bukittinggi City due to alleged politicization of zakat distribution, reflects the influence of religious authority on the economic behavior of the ummah. This study aims to analyze the impact of the advisory on muzakki's perceptions and preferences in channeling zakat to BAZNAS Bukittinggi City. This research employed a qualitative field approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with muzakki, BAZNAS administrators, and MUI West Sumatra representatives, as well as documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, validated by source triangulation. The results show that the advisory influenced muzakki's perceptions of BAZNAS credibility and governance, creating doubt and critical attitudes. Preference changes included reducing zakat contributions, switching to other zakat institutions, or distributing zakat directly to mustahik. These changes were influenced by trust in MUI, sharia concerns, zakat literacy, and institutional reputation. The study recommends strengthening BAZNAS transparency, accountability, and cooperation with MUI to restore muzakki trust.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of information technology has had a significant positive impact on the tourism sector, particularly in improving information dissemination and services for tourists. However, the conventional method of providing tourism information often makes it difficult for visitors to obtain comprehensive details about tourist destinations, accommodation, transportation, and tour packages. This study aims to design and develop a web-based E-Tourism application that provides integrated tourism information while supporting online booking and payment services. The system was developed using the Waterfall software development model, which consists of the stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. System testing was conducted using the Black Box Testing method to ensure that each system function operates according to user requirements. The results indicate that the application was successfully developed with features including tourist destination management, hotel information, ship schedules, flight schedules, tour packages, galleries, online transactions, online payment, virtual tours, and user management. Based on testing conducted on 20 test scenarios, all system functions achieved a valid status, resulting in a 100% success rate. Therefore, the developed application effectively enhances the delivery of tourism information, simplifies data management for administrators, and provides tourists with convenient access to information and online transaction services.

The results indicate that financial knowledge, financial attitude, and financial literacy have positive and significant effects on locus of control. Furthermore, financial knowledge and financial literacy have positive and significant effects on financial management behavior. Locus of control was also found to have a positive and significant effect on financial management behavior. Abstract

This study is motivated by the critical importance of zakat and Local Own-Source Revenue (PAD) as two key instruments in supporting improvements in community welfare. Zakat serves as a mechanism for distributing wealth to eligible recipients, while PAD serves as a source of local funding to support public services and development. This study aims to analyze the role of zakat and PAD distribution in improving the welfare of the people of Bukittinggi City and to examine it from the perspective of Maqāṣid Syarī’ah. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as documentation, interviews, and literature review. Data were obtained from official reports of the Bukittinggi City BAZNAS, the Regional Budget (APBD) documents, and community welfare indicators for the 2023–2025 period. The results indicate that zakat plays a role in assisting eligible recipients (mustahik) through health, education, social welfare, da’wah, and economic empowerment programs, although its implementation has declined in some years covered by the study. Meanwhile, local revenue (PAD) contributes by funding public services, infrastructure, education, health, and social protection. From the perspective of Maqāṣid Syarī’ah, zakat and local revenue (PAD) complement each other in safeguarding religion, life, intellect, lineage, and wealth to achieve equitable and sustainable community welfare.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the mediating role of member satisfaction in the relationship between Islamic business ethics and service quality on member loyalty in Islamic cooperatives. A quantitative approach with a survey design was employed, involving 200 active members selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) via SmartPLS 4.0. The results indicate that Islamic business ethics and service quality have a positive and significant effect on member satisfaction, with service quality emerging as the stronger predictor. Member satisfaction subsequently proved to significantly influence member loyalty while partially mediating the relationship between both antecedent variables and loyalty. The partial mediation pattern suggests that Islamic business ethics and service quality operate through two simultaneous pathways: an indirect pathway through satisfaction, and a direct pathway reflecting the normative-religious dimension of Islamic cooperative membership. These findings affirm that an effective loyalty enhancement strategy must simultaneously integrate the reinforcement of Islamic values with continuous service quality improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strengthening of the Religious Courts' role in resolving Islamic economic disputes through a juridical examination of the dynamics of authority and absolute jurisdiction within the Indonesian legal system. The research employs a normative legal method using statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. The data sources consist of primary legal materials in the form of legislation and court decisions, as well as secondary legal materials derived from books and relevant scholarly journal articles. The findings reveal that the authority of the Religious Courts in resolving Islamic economic disputes has been firmly established through Law Number 3 of 2006 and further reinforced by the Constitutional Court Decision Number 93/PUU-X/2012, which confirms the absolute jurisdiction of the Religious Courts over Islamic economic disputes through litigation mechanisms. Nevertheless, the implementation of such authority continues to face various challenges, including the increasing complexity of modern Islamic financial transactions, the rapid development of financial technology, limitations in human resources, and the need for harmonization of substantive and procedural laws. Therefore, strengthening institutional capacity, updating regulations, developing jurisprudence, and optimizing judicial technology are strategic measures to enhance the effectiveness of Islamic economic dispute resolution. This study concludes that strengthening the role of the Religious Courts is essential for ensuring legal certainty and supporting the sustainable development of the Islamic economic sector in Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid growth of digital wallet platforms has transformed transaction patterns and accelerated the development of a cashless society in Indonesia. However, the complexity of legal relationships among users, platform providers, merchants, and financial institutions raises questions regarding the suitability of existing contract structures with Islamic economic law principles. This study aims to analyze the contractual framework underlying digital wallet operations and formulate a reconstruction model of Sharia contracts that is more responsive to technological disruption. This research employs a qualitative approach using normative legal research and a conceptual analysis of fiqh muamalah, contemporary Islamic finance literature, regulations, and fatwas related to digital financial transactions. The findings indicate that digital wallet transactions cannot be adequately explained through a single contract model because they involve various legal activities, including fund storage, payment execution, fund transfers, and promotional services. Therefore, a multi-contract approach integrating wadī‘ah, qardh, wakālah, ijārah, hibah, and ju‘ālah is considered more capable of representing the legal reality of digital wallet ecosystems. The study further reveals that technological innovation is fundamentally compatible with Islamic law as long as it upholds transparency, justice, legal certainty, and protection from riba, gharar, and maysir. Consequently, the reconstruction of Sharia contracts should be based on maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah to ensure adaptability, legal certainty, and sustainable innovation within the digital financial ecosystem. This model is expected to contribute to the development of Islamic fintech governance and contemporary Islamic economic law in Indonesia.
