Abstract

Postpartum maternal services are health services provided to postpartum mothers (40 days postpartum) according to standards, at least 3 times according to schedule, namely KF1 (6-3 days after delivery), KF2 (4-28 days after delivery), and KF3 (29-42 days after delivery). Its success is measured by the coverage of KF3 (national target: at least 90%). This service activity was carried out at the Puskesmas Koni in Jambi City, where KF3 coverage had reached 100% of 268 postpartum women in 2020. Based on the identification of the problem, there were 5 problems related to postpartum mothers, namely: 1) the provision of information for postpartum mothers was not maximal at the KIA Polyclinic; 2) low knowledge of mothers about the postpartum period and postpartum services; 3) there are still negative attitudes of mothers and families about the postpartum period; 4) the low number of postpartum visits, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic; and 5) the low participation of mothers in participating in health education at Posyandu activities for toddlers. One of the efforts to overcome these problems is the provision of education in the form of group education. The aim is to increase knowledge of mothers and families about the postpartum period and postpartum services, change attitudes and take healthy actions related to the postpartum period. This series of activities has been carried out since March-July 2021, while education was given on July 13, 2021 for 5 postpartum mothers who were accompanied by their families. This group education is given 1 meeting for 50-60 minutes; using flipcharts and booklets. Identification of mother's knowledge and attitudes (pre and post-education) using the same questionnaire sheet. The results obtained are an increase in the average knowledge of 3.8 and an increase in the average attitude of 4.3 after being given education.

Abstract

Breastfeeding or in a foreign language called breasting is the feeding of breast milk (breast milk) as a natural food provided to the baby. The breastfeeding process can be hampered due to several problems, one of which is mastitis. Mastitis in nursing mothers is an infection of breast tissue when the mother is breastfeeding, mainly occurs due to blockage of breast milk ducts by a coagulated breast milk and accompanied by bacteria that enter the breast tissue through the nipple.  The incidence of mastitis is estimated to occur in the first 12 weeks to the second year of feeding. Mastitis needs to be considered because being one of the reasons for the mother to stop breastfeeding can proceed to other diseases such as breast abscesses. Lack of knowledge about mastitis and its treatment causes many mothers to detect mastitis too late and aggravate the state of mastitis. Therefore, prevention and education related to mastitis when the mother is breastfeeding is needed. This activity was held on July 29, 2022 for 3 hours and was attended by 23 mothers of reproductive age who lived in Gantiang village, Padang Panjang Timur. The results of this activity obtained differences in the average level of knowledge of participants before and after counseling. This activity has an impact on increasing public knowledge related to mastitis so that it can increase the success of breastfeeding and prevent stunting.

Abstract

Feeding practices low contribution for toddlers are closely related to the knowledge, motivation and attitudes of mothers/caregivers of toddlers. In Indonesia, the knowledge of mothers or caregivers is one of the factors that makes it difficult to handle malnutrition problems. The aim of community service is to increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers in providing MP-ASI. Community service activities in collaboration with the Paal Merah II Community Health Center, Jambi City with a target of 40 mothers of toddlers at Posyandu Anggrek 9 conducting training on the application of science and technology research results in the form of the SIMPATIK website. Implementation of community service activities is carried out in three stages, namely: training in nutritional parenting patterns through SIMPATIK, and evaluation of knowledge of nutritional parenting patterns (pretest-posttest). As a result of the activity, 95% of mothers had good knowledge in giving MP-ASI, which previously was 15%, meaning there was an increase of 80%. SYMPATHIC training increases the knowledge of mothers of toddlers which can later contribute to the behavior of giving MP-ASI, so that providing the right MP-ASI will provide benefits and suit optimal growth and development according to age. Partners contribute to providing posyandu premises, accompanying teams of nutrition implementers and posyandu cadres. Obstacles during service are mothers of toddlers' limited time to attend training, and some mothers do not have data packages. These obstacles and challenges can be overcome by providing a mentoring team, and providing data packages to mothers of toddlers so they can access SIMPATIK
