Abstract

Indigenous Communities (KAT) are still an issue in Indonesia and local governments. KAT in Jambi Province are spread across several regencies, sub-districts and villages. One of them is in Hajran Village, Batanghari Regency. KAT has complex social problems, namely poverty, education and health. Health problems in KAT arise due to the low implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) because this behavior is not yet understood. Increased knowledge and changes in PHBS occur after education is provided. Pop-up book media can increase knowledge, attitudes, skills and behavior of PHBS. Increasing awareness of PHBS as a strategy for preventing stunting. In Hajran Village in June 2024, there were 5 cases of stunting and 2 cases of malnutrition. The Suku Anak Dalam Health Education Center (PODKESAD) is an application of technology development and innovation as an effort to prevent the risk of stunting. This activity aims to increase knowledge and behavior of PHBS in KAT, increase knowledge of stunting prevention with local food and biofloc pond catfish cultivation and PMT processing skills with local food and biofloc pond catfish cultivation in PKK groups. The implementation method is through providing education and training. PODKESAD is able to increase the knowledge of PHBS KAT (76.2%) and behavior (77.9%), increase the knowledge of PKK groups about preventing stunting by utilizing local food (86.1%) and skills (100%), and increase the knowledge of PKK groups about catfish cultivation in biofloc ponds (83.21%) and skills (100%). It is hoped that the Hajran Village government will provide guidance for the sustainability of the program in KAT and TP PKK so that the risk of stunting can be reduced through PHBS habits and the provision of additional food and access to a variety of high-protein foods in the form of catfish floss.

Abstract

Posture is good body posture for inactive and active muscles. Improper body posture habits, such as carrying a heavy bag on one shoulder, result in the shoulders becoming higher on the other side, causing weakness in the trunk muscles which triggers the risk of scoliosis. Scoliosis is a spinal deformity characterized by lateral curvature with or without spinal rotation. Scoliosis can be functional scoliosis which can be corrected while structural scoliosis tends to persist. Approximately 15-20% of cases of scoliosis have an unknown initial cause and 80% of cases of structural scoliosis have an idiopathic etiology and are usually found in children or adolescents. The method used is a question and answer lecture and shows the core stabilization training model and the Schroth method. Before being given education, students' level of knowledge regarding scoliosis is first assessed, then measurements are taken with a scoliometer to see the degree of scoliosis. The second stage is the delivery of material about exercise models for scoliosis. As well as practicing the core stabilization model and the Schroth method. The third stage is a posttest to measure students' knowledge after being given education and practicing exercises. This community service is carried out at MA Muallimin Muhammadiyah Bangkinang. with 35 respondents. The results of community service activities showed an increase in knowledge before being given education on average in the sufficient category (score 65-70) as many as 14 people (40%) and after being given education there was an increase in knowledge on average ≥ 75 or good knowledge as many as 28 people (80 %), students can also practice exercises to improve posture and low back pain caused by scoliosis, this exercise model can be done independently, easily, anytime, anywhere without any side effects or costs.

Abstract

Environmentally and behavior-based infectious diseases, such as skin diseases, continue to be a significant health issue in Islamic boarding schools. Scabies is a contagious skin infection caused by the Sarcoptes scabiei mite, commonly found in tropical countries. Generally, crowded environments such as Islamic boarding schools are at high risk for the transmission of this disease. The objective of this activity was to provide knowledge on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) to students  at Pondok Pesantren As’ad in order to prevent scabies. The activity was conducted using a lecture method, followed by pre-test and post-test assessments before and after the session. The activities were carried out from March to August 2024 at As’ad boarding schools in Jambi City, with 27 students in attendance. The material was delivered using PowerPoint presentations. The results indicated that, prior to the education, the students' knowledge about PHBS to prevent scabies was still considered poor, with 21 students (77.77%) having inadequate knowledge. After the education, the students' knowledge improved to a good level, with 20 students (74.07%) demonstrating better understanding. This improvement was evident in the increase of the average pre-test score from 51.48 to 73.33 on the post-test. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the students' knowledge increased after receiving education on PHBS for preventing scabies. It is expected that the management of the boarding schools will further enhance promotive and preventive activities emphasizing the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior, especially in the prevention of scabies.

Abstract

Suku Anak Dalam, also known as SAD in Jambi Province, has undergone modernization in terms of attire and medical practices. In the past, if there was a disease, traditional medicine was the main choice and if it could not be treated, then treatment was done through special rituals. Nowadays, the SAD community prefers choosing nearby health services such public health center or hospital. The preservation of endemic medicinal plants as a local medical tradition must be strengthened, as this will aid traditional medicine research. This community service aims to preserve endemic medicinal plants of the Suku Anak Dalam by creating a mini museum consisting of specimens and books of medicinal plants as well as endemic medicinal plant gardens. The project began with collecting of SAD endemic medicinal plant specimens, which will be used to fill the interior of the upcoming mini-museum.
