Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Qur'an Hadith teacher efforts on student interest in learning at Madrasah Aliyah Muallimin UNIVA Medan. The focus of the study is directed at the extent to which the teacher's active role in the learning process is able to arouse students' interest and enthusiasm in participating in Qur'an Hadith lessons. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through an open questionnaire. The research sample amounted to 35 students who were selected purposively. The research instrument was analyzed using a Likert scale, and the data were processed through the stages of validity test, classical assumption test, determination test, and partial hypothesis test (t test) with the help of the SPSS version 26 program. The results showed that the efforts of the Qur'an Hadith teacher had a significant and positive influence on student interest in learning. This is evidenced by the r-count value of 6.705 which is greater than the r-table of 1.660. In addition, the amount of influence shown by the coefficient of determination reaches 61.4%, which means that most of the variation in student interest in learning can be explained by the teacher effort variable. These results underscore the need to strengthen teachers' pedagogical competence, especially in religious subjects.

Abstract

implications for the phenomenon of human trafficking, with a focus on cases that have befallen Indonesian citizens in Cambodia. Using the literature study method from scientific journals, books, theses, and social media content containing victim testimonies. Analysis was carried out with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, and supported by the content analysis method of digital data. The research findings show that human trafficking is a modern form of injustice that contradicts Qur'anic values in principle, especially in verses such as Al-Isra': 70, An-Nur: 33, and Al-Baqarah: 177. Islam explicitly teaches respect for human dignity (karāmah insāniyyah), rejects slavery, and encourages liberation from all forms of exploitation. Therefore, the prevention and handling of human trafficking in an Islamic perspective must be positioned as part of the religious mandate, not just a social issue. Synergy between the state, society, and religious institutions is needed to build a system that guarantees the protection of humanity as a whole.

Abstract

The digital era presents new challenges for teenagers in shaping their religious identity, especially due to the influence of social media such as TikTok. This study aims to examine the role of majlis ta'lim as a non-formal educational institution in shaping the religious identity of teenagers amid the digitalization trend. The study employs a qualitative approach using in-depth interviews with teenage participants of majlis ta'lim and the institution's administrators. The findings reveal that majlis ta'lim serves as an effective social space for instilling religious values in a moderate and contextual manner, as well as acting as a moral filter for teenagers in navigating the negative influences of social media. Additionally, majlis ta'lim has begun to adapt to digital technology by utilizing social media as a means of religious outreach and communication. The study emphasizes that while adolescents cannot completely escape digital influences, majlis ta'lim provides a strong foundation of values and moral control, ensuring that their religious identity remains positively and moderately preserved. These findings contribute to the development of religious education strategies relevant to the needs of today's teenagers and serve as a reference for religious education center administrators and policymakers in addressing the dynamics of globalization and modernization.

Abstract

Corruption is a social disease that undermines the fabric of the state and weakens public trust in government institutions. In Muslim-majority countries, corruption is often a major challenge even though Islamic teachings strictly prohibit all forms of fraud, abuse of power and embezzlement of public assets. This article aims to examine how Islamic principles, particularly in the context of Islamic governance, can serve as a normative and practical paradigm in the fight against corruption. Using a qualitative-comparative study approach, this article synthesizes classical and contemporary literature on Islamic Governance and analyzes its application in several Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Nigeria. It is found that Islamic Governance rooted in the principles of amanah, hisbah, justice, shura, and maslahah can be an alternative model for building a clean, fair, and integrity government.

Abstract

The phenomenon of Hajj on foot, which has recently been in the public spotlight on social media, has led to debates in the public sphere regarding the meaning, motivation, and authenticity of the practice. This research uses a qualitative approach with phenomenological methods to understand how people interpret the phenomenon. Primary data was obtained through in-depth interviews with religious leaders, people who are pro and contra to this phenomenon, as well as secondary data in the form of book and journal literature. The analysis technique uses Serge Moscovici's Social Representation theory and Erving Goffman's Dramaturgy theory. The results showed that: (1) The community forms polarized social representations, some of which consider it a form of high spirituality, while others consider it a practice of riya or seeking benefits (gifts); (2) Social media functions as a front stage where Hajj Walking actors manage their religious narratives and images, which are displayed in the form of vlogs, photos, and live streaming; (3) There is a gap between what is displayed on the front stage and more complex motivations or goals in the backstage, giving rise to controversy in society. This study concludes that in the digital era, religious practices are not only a matter of personal faith, but also social representations that are dynamically constructed and exchanged in the public sphere. This requires people to be more critical and reflective in understanding contemporary spirituality.

Abstract

The rise of digital da'wah in the social media era has profoundly reshaped the dissemination of Islamic teachings, particularly through platforms such as YouTube. This phenomenon underscores the importance of examining how hadith-based Islamic narratives are constructed within contemporary popular religious discourse. This study investigates the narrative construction of hadiths in the da'wah content of Ustadz Nuzul Dzikri on YouTube and explores how his communicative strategies influence the audience’s comprehension of hadith teachings. The research focuses on the selection, presentation, and interpretation of hadiths in his lectures, considering both the scholarly substance and rhetorical techniques employed. Adopting a qualitative methodology, this study utilizes content analysis as its primary method, with data gathered through participatory observation, documentation, and video analysis. The findings reveal that Ustadz Nuzul Dzikri employs a thematic method grounded in authentic hadiths, delivered in a systematic and accessible style. This approach successfully integrates classical Islamic scholarship with contemporary da'wah communication practices, resonating strongly with urban digital audiences and addressing the evolving demands of Islamic propagation in the era of new media

Abstract

This study examines the integration of the socio-psycholinguistic approach in learning Arabic in the modern era, as well as its implications for language skills, vocabulary retention, and learner motivation. The method used is descriptive qualitative. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and curriculum documentation. Data analysis followed three main stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the application of the socio-psycholinguistic approach that combines the cognitive aspects of psycholinguistics with the socio-cultural dimensions of sociolinguistics has a positive impact in the form of improved communication skills in Arabic, long-term vocabulary retention, and higher learning motivation. However, implementation in the field is still constrained by gaps in teacher competence, a curriculum that does not fully support contextual learning, and limited digital infrastructure in less developed areas.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the use of muqabalah as a rhetorical device in Surah Al-Mulk, specifically in verses 2, 15, and 20. Employing a qualitative methodology, the research conducts an in-depth analysis of these verses to explore the rhetorical contrasts embedded within the text, such as life and death, courage and fear, and success and failure. The study integrates classical and contemporary tafsir literature alongside rhetorical analysis to uncover how muqabalah functions not only to enhance semantic depth but also to intensify reader engagement and comprehension. The findings identify three distinct forms of muqabalah: muqabalah khilāfīyah in verse 2, muqabalah naẓīriyyah in verse 15, and muqabalah naqīḍiyyah in verse 20. These rhetorical contrasts serve as powerful devices that reinforce theological and moral teachings, heightening spiritual awareness and ethical responsibility. Moreover, the study emphasizes the pedagogical relevance of muqabalah in contemporary Qur’anic instruction, proposing its application as a tool to foster critical reflection and spiritual consciousness among learners. This research contributes to Qur’anic studies by highlighting the exegetical and educational significance of rhetorical devices in the Qur’an, and by offering innovative insights into how classical Arabic rhetoric can be contextually integrated into modern Islamic education.

Abstract

This research discusses the strategic role of religious moderation in supporting populist economic development and village community empowerment. Religious moderation that prioritizes the values of balance, tolerance, and justice contributes to creating social cohesion, which is an important foundation for inclusive and sustainable village development. Through a qualitative approach with a literature study method, this research examines scientific literature and policy documents to understand the relationship between moderate religious values and village socio-economic dynamics. The results show that the implementation of religious moderation encourages collective participation, strengthens social capital, and facilitates cross-group cooperation in economic activities such as cooperatives, MSMEs, and BUMDes. Case studies in various villages show that religious forums, gotong royong activities, and tolerance value education can increase solidarity and local economic productivity. Thus, religious moderation is not only relevant as a theological concept, but also as a practical approach to strengthen the capacity of village communities. This research recommends mainstreaming religious moderation in village development policies through collaboration between the government, religious leaders, and civil society to realize peaceful, prosperous, and independent villages.

Abstract

This study aims to critically analyze the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum) in mathematics education, focusing on the alignment between policy discourse and classroom practices. Utilizing a literature review approach, this research examines relevant national and international sources and synthesizes findings related to the challenges, innovations, and reflective practices surrounding the curriculum implementation. The analysis reveals that although the Kurikulum Merdeka promotes flexible, contextual, and student-centered learning, its practical application still encounters pedagogical, cultural, and structural barriers. Innovations such as project-based learning, ethnomathematics integration, and digital media utilization offer promising strategies, yet these remain hindered by insufficient teacher readiness and systemic support. This study recommends strengthening teachers’ professional capacities, transforming school learning cultures, and conducting further practice-based research to authentically embed the spirit of independent learning into mathematics instruction in a sustainable manner.
