Abstract

This article examines Islamic educational thought from the perspective of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, a great cleric and founder of Nahdatul Ulama (NU). His thoughts have significant relevance in the context of Islamic education in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the philosophical foundations, objectives, curriculum, teaching methods, and teachers and students in the view of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari. Through literature studies and analysis of his works, this article shows that Islamic education according to KH. Hasyim Asy'ari is not only oriented towards cognitive aspects, but also emphasizes the formation of strong character, morals, and spirituality, as well as devotion to society and the state.

Abstract

This study explores the metaphorical representation of pain and memory in Taylor Swift’s song All Too Well, a work widely regarded as an emotionally intense lyrical narrative. The objective of the study is to examine how Swift utilizes figurative language—particularly metaphor—to convey themes of emotional trauma and recollection within the context of a failed romantic relationship. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this study employs close reading and metaphor analysis based on Conceptual Metaphor Theory (Lakoff & Johnson, 1980). The findings reveal that Swift constructs a poetic narrative built upon eight primary metaphors that transform abstract feelings into vivid, sensory imagery. These metaphors not only shape the listener’s emotional perception but also function as narrative devices that give structure to the song’s temporal shifts and emotional progression. The significance of these results lies in their illustration of how contemporary song lyrics serve as a medium for literary expression and emotional articulation. In conclusion, All Too Well exemplifies the function of metaphor in mediating personal trauma through artful linguistic choices that resonate with collective human experience.

Abstract

Islamic character education is a fundamental aspect of the national education system, especially in facing the challenges of moral degradation in the modern era. One approach that is considered effective in shaping students' character is through the integration of mosque-based learning that combines formal education with strengthening Islamic values ​​contextually. This study aims to systematically examine how mosque-based learning can improve students' Islamic character and explore the forms, strategies, and challenges of its implementation in various educational institutions. The method used is a systematic literature review by examining journal articles, books, proceedings, and relevant scientific documents published between 2015 and 2025. The analysis was carried out through keyword identification, literature selection with inclusion and exclusion criteria, and thematic synthesis of relevant findings. The results of the study indicate that mosque-based learning is effective in improving religious understanding, worship practices, and the formation of students' social and spiritual character. Programs such as TPA, youth mentoring, and routine studies have a significant role in the process of internalizing Islamic values. However, this integration still faces challenges such as the lack of synergy between schools and mosques and differences in curriculum approaches. Therefore, active collaboration between teachers, community leaders, and parents is needed to create a sustainable Islamic character education ecosystem. These findings provide direction for the development of educational policies and practices based on religious and contextual values ​​in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study explores the pragmatic dimensions of apology and emotional plea in the lyrics of Boyz II Men's “On Bended Knee”. As an emblematic R&B song from the 1990s, the lyrics are rich in expressive speech acts that convey regret, longing, and emotional vulnerability. The objective of this study is to analyze the types and functions of speech acts, particularly focusing on apology and pleading expressions using the framework of speech act theory and politeness strategies proposed by Brown and Levinson. This research applies a qualitative descriptive method with textual analysis as the main tool. The results indicate that the lyrics contain multiple expressive and commissive acts, such as requests, promises, and repeated apologies, demonstrating a strong emotional appeal. These elements construct a discourse of emotional surrender and remorse, reflecting key features of interpersonal communication in popular music. The study contributes to the understanding of how language in music can perform social functions beyond aesthetic value, particularly in articulating relational dynamics and emotional expression.

Abstract

This paper examines the educational values ​​and character building applied in Imran's family as reflected in the story contained in Surah Ali 'Imran and other narratives in the Qur'an. Through an analysis of the story of Imran's wife's vow, the surrender of Maryam to the Prophet Zakariya, and the instillation of the principle of monotheism from an early age, the article emphasizes that success in building a generation of faith and piety is not only based on internal aspects of the family, but is also greatly influenced by external factors such as a conducive environment, prayer, and sincere intentions from parents. A religious and exemplary environment, as chosen and managed by Imran's family, is an important factor in shaping children's character as a whole by instilling moral, spiritual, and social values ​​according to Islamic principles. In addition, the article highlights that Imran's family education emphasizes the importance of consistency, sincerity, and prayer in the process of educating children so that they grow into individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent, but also strong in faith and noble morals. Thus, Imran's family is an ideal model that is able to integrate spiritual and moral aspects as the main foundation in building a future generation that is faithful and pious according to Islamic teachings.

Abstract

Phobia is a form of anxiety disorder characterized by excessive and irrational fear of certain objects, situations, or activities. One type of phobia that is quite common but often not seriously realized is acrophobia, which is an excessive fear of heights. This disorder not only affects the psychological aspect, but also affects the daily activities of the individual who experiences it. Students as an early adult age group are in a challenging transition period, both academically and socially. When students experience acrophobia, not only is their mental condition disturbed, but also the potential for limitations in participating in certain activities such as field trips, organizations, or outdoor activities that involve heights. In the context of higher education that demands independence and courage, this type of phobia can be an obstacle to students' self-development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social values in the folklore of Sendang Sani in Pati. The story of Sendang Sani, contained in the book Folklore of the East Coast by Mohammad Kanzunnudin, was published by CV Adhigama in 2024. The story appears on page 129 of the total 230 pages of the book measuring 15.5 × 23 cm. The story contains various social values such as devotion, helping, kinship, care, discipline, empathy, justice, tolerance, and cooperation. These values are reflected by the characters, especially Sunan Bonang, Ki Ahmad, and Ki Dudho. This research used descriptive qualitative approach with literature study method and data analysis technique of Miles and Huberman model. The results showed that the Sendang Sani story has great potential as a medium for local culture-based character learning. Therefore, the integration of local folklore in the educational curriculum is necessary for cultural preservation and strengthening the character of the younger generation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the mathematical problem solving ability of fourth grade elementary school students in solving fraction problems at SD 2 Temulus. This type of research is descriptive qualitative research. The data source of this research comes from the answers to the daily test results of fraction material and interviews. This study used 3 subjects from 12 fourth grade students who were taken using purposive techniques according to the category of mathematical problem solving ability, consisting of high, medium, and low categories. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis technique uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes four stages of data reduction, data presentation, conclusion drawing. The results showed that (1) students with high ability were able to fulfill all Polya problem solving indicators. (2) students in the medium category can solve problems well, but often lack thoroughness and are often hasty. They can only fulfill 2 of the 4 problem solving indicators. (3) Students in the low category have not been able to solve the problem well. They were unable to fulfill all indicators of problem solving ability according to Polya's stages. The conclusion of this study is that students have various potentials in mathematical problem solving ranging from high, medium, and low categories.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between the intensity of social media use and elementary school students' learning achievement. The background of the study is based on the phenomenon of increasing screen time among students due to easy access to social media, which is often more interesting than learning activities. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational method and involves 30 fifth grade students of SD Negeri 1 Dersalam who were selected through a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire and analyzed using the Kolmogorov–Smirnov normality test and the Pearson Product Moment correlation test. The results of the study showed a very strong and significant negative relationship between the intensity of social media use and learning achievement (r = -0.968; p <0.05). This means that the higher the duration of social media use, the lower the student's learning achievement. However, some students also use social media as a learning tool, such as accessing educational videos and discussing lessons. This study emphasizes the importance of the role of parents and teachers in supervising and guiding the use of social media so that it becomes a tool that supports learning. These findings are expected to be a reference in developing a balanced digital literacy strategy for students.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the numeracy skills of eighth-grade junior high school students in solving AKM problems with algebra content, identify the factors that influence them, and develop effective learning strategies to improve them. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The subjects of the study were eighth-grade students of Anugerah Gloria Terpadu Wamena Middle School in the 2024/2025 academic year. The main instrument in this study was the researcher herself, while the supporting instruments were test sheets and interview guidelines. This study used data collection techniques in the form of test techniques and interview techniques. The data analysis used three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that the numeracy of eighth-grade students of Anugerah Gloria Terpadu Middle School is still categorized as low, due to the lack of explanation and reasoning of mathematical sentences in the problems. Therefore, improvements and development of mathematics learning are provided, such as the need to compile integrated learning materials between mathematical topics/concepts, everyday life, and other sciences to provide a relevant context for students. Because it coincides with curriculum adjustments to the development of the era. The curriculum in Indonesia will continue to change.
