Abstract

This study explores the Indonesian legend of Tangkuban Prau as a reflection of customary law (hukum adat) values through a literary and legal lens. The research aims to uncover how the narrative encapsulates and reinforces societal norms, focusing on themes of familial respect, ethical boundaries, and social harmony in West Javanese culture. Using qualitative methods, the study analyzes the legend’s narrative structure, character dynamics, and symbolic motifs, revealing its role as both a cultural artifact and a medium for moral education. The findings demonstrate that the tale conveys the principles of hukum adat through its depiction of moral dilemmas, cosmic justice, and the consequences of violating societal norms. Moreover, the story’s timeless appeal highlights its potential for cultural preservation and intergenerational education. This research underscores the relevance of folklore in bridging tradition and modernity, contributing to the broader discourse on the intersection of literature and law in cultural studies.

Abstract

Modern English has forsaken the traditional English tenet. The endeavour on the shift of modern eductaional needs has been studied by myriad researchers. Thus, the current study inquires the learning style change of an Islamic boarding school student, providing novelty to the identity struggle in an initial teacher education context.  A narrative inqury design was piloted in this study, recruiting Arif (pseudonym) from a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Probolinggo. Moreover, the current study uncovered that Arif used to consider grammar in speaking. Focusing grammar in speaking was the drawback of Arif when he tried to speak English fluently. He should think twice before produce the sentence. Therefore, he changed his learning style on focussing on the meaning after listening to the sheikh of the Islamic boarding school. The condition unconsciously adhered to the World Englishes notion that English does not belong to anyone but the speaker itself (Kirkpatrick, 2010; Wei, 2020).  He believed that the new learning style may improve his speaking skills.

Abstract

Efforts to improve performance on the system ignition motorbike already Lots done, one of them Can done with installation Groundstrap on cable spark plug For as cable grounding spark plugs for voltage fire from coil will focus going to spark plugs. Research This use method study descriptive For know difference use Groundstrap ( Groundstrap Aluminum and Copper ) against characteristics voltage cable spark plug. Testing done as much as three trials, 4000 Rpm, 6000 Rpm, and 8000 Rpm. Data analysis techniques using descriptive statistics For knowing the average and percentage the changes. Based on results analysis of research data that has been discussed in the section previously, can withdrawn conclusion with use Groundstrap Copper capable reducing CO exhaust gas by -3.58% reduction. while Groundstrap Aluminum experience increase in CO exhaust gas by 4.48 %. Likewise with HC exhaust gas, Groundstrap Copper capable reducing HC exhaust gas by -4.63 %. While Groundstrap Aluminum experience increase in HC exhaust gas by 6.66%. So it can be concluded the more the good thing is system ignition on a vehicle so will the more low exhaust emissions released. On consumption material burn Groundstrap Copper capable lower consumption material fuel consumption on motorbikes decreased by -6.1%. Meanwhile, Groundstrap Aluminum consumption material burn become increase by 1.53%.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the effectiveness of the inquiry learning model in internalizing citizenship values in senior high school (SMA) students. The approach used is qualitative, with a literature study method that utilizes reputable scientific sources, including national and international journals. The results of the study indicate that the application of the inquiry learning model can increase students' active involvement in the learning process, strengthen critical thinking skills, and encourage a more contextual understanding of citizenship values such as responsibility, tolerance, participation, and social justice. Inquiry learning creates space for students to build understanding through exploratory, collaborative, and reflective processes, thus having an impact on the formation of strong citizenship character and attitudes. In addition, this study identified that the process of internalizing values is not only determined by learning strategies but is also influenced by external factors such as the social environment, culture, education, and media. Thus, inquiry learning is considered relevant to be integrated more widely into education policies in order to strengthen citizenship awareness and form a young generation that is active and responsible in community and national life.

Abstract

Effective civic education is essential to improve students' civic knowledge and skills, but the challenge of increasing student engagement in PPKn learning is still a significant problem. This study aims to investigate the effect of gamification in PPKn learning on improving high school students' civic knowledge and skills. This study used an experimental design with the ANCOVA approach, involving three classes in Sumenep, consisting of an experimental class (gamification) and two control groups (positive control with lectures and negative control). The results showed that the implementation of gamification resulted in a significant increase in critical thinking skills, with a value of F (2,26) = 65.14, p = 0.021, and ƞ2 = 0.95. The experimental group had a higher average score compared to both control groups. These findings suggest that gamification can be an effective strategy in improving engagement and quality of PPKn learning. The implications of this study provide insights for the practice of civic education and open up opportunities for further research with larger samples and longer durations.

Abstract

This study aims to describe how nationalism education is applied to the young generation of Indonesia amid the challenges of the globalisation era. The approach used in this research is descriptive qualitative and was conducted in a number of senior high schools. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The research subjects consisted of teachers of Pancasila and Civics Education (PPKn) subjects and students who attended PPKn classes in East Java Province. Data were analysed using the inductive analysis method. The research findings identified two main forms of nationalism education for the younger generation in the era of globalisation, namely through the internalisation of national values in Civic Education learning and the implementation of extracurricular activities. Teachers integrate national values in the learning process by developing teaching strategies, materials, media, and student worksheets that are full of nationalism content. Meanwhile, extracurricular activities at school are also a means of instilling national values to students.

Abstract

This study applies qualitative methods in the process of data collection and analysis. This study aims to analyze the story's structure in Dian Purnomo's novel, Perempuan Yang Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam, using Greimas' narratological perspective. Greimas divides two structural models of narratology in his theory. The two models are the actantial model and the functional model. Two narratological models from Greimas aim to reveal the story's structure, showing the connection between women who are subject actants to get objects, so that the actors who become objects can show their strength as women. The study results show Magi Diela as an actant who becomes the Subject to fight for her freedom as a woman who becomes the Object. Magi Diela, as an actant charged with the task of being a subject, can show her power over her mind and body as a woman and leave the cultural discrimination she has received through Kawin Tangkap Culture. Although this is not an easy process, Magi Diela, as a subject, has to go through various situations that are exhausting both physically and psychologically. The results of the second model, namely the functional model, show three stages in which Magi must struggle as an actant burdened as a subject in the actantial model to get an object. The three stages of the functional structure model that Magie went through proved that she had managed to overcome her difficulties and misfortunes as a woman who lived in restraint and demonstrated the freedom she strived for.

Abstract

The intrinsic and extrinsic motivational variables that affect students' English language acquisition in the English Literature program at Universitas Kristen Cipta Wacana are examined in this study. The study employs a qualitative case study technique to analyze individual, academic, and social variables that influence students' participation in English education. Semi-structured interviews and focus group conversations with 10 carefully chosen subjects were used to gather data. Thematic analysis showed that students' intrinsic motivation is frequently derived from their love of literature, personal pleasure in learning English, and aspiration for self-improvement. In the meanwhile, external incentives are influenced by academic demands, parental expectations, and professional ambitions. The research sheds light on the two roles of motivation in language acquisition and makes pedagogical recommendations for encouraging long-term learner involvement.

Abstract

Bullying remains a pervasive issue in vocational high schools, adversely affecting students’ psychological well-being, academic performance, and social development. This study aims to implement socialization and training programs to prevent bullying by raising awareness, enhancing peer relationships, and equipping students and educators with effective prevention strategies. Using qualitative methods, the study identifies challenges such as the trivialization of bullying and the influence of social media, and evaluates the effectiveness of school-based interventions. The findings suggest that comprehensive, community-involved approaches are essential to foster safer and more inclusive educational environments

Abstract

This study aims to determine student responses to the implementation of the active debate method in the Pancasila course. This research is quantitative and descriptive in nature. The subjects of this study were 131 students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. The instrument used was an online questionnaire employing a Likert scale (1-5). The research procedure involved asking students who had participated in the active debate method during the Pancasila course to complete an online questionnaire. The questionnaire results were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis to ascertain student responses to the use of the debate method. The findings indicate that student responses to the active debate method in the Pancasila course fall under the "Good" category. Student responses for each aspect are as follows: (1) Student activity and participation (Good category); (2) Understanding and analysis of ideological concepts (Good category); (3) Critical thinking and argumentation skills (Good category); (4) Communication and social attitudes (Very Good category); and (5) Effectiveness and general impression of the learning (Good category). It can be concluded that the active debate method is a viable option for lecturers teaching the Pancasila course, helping students gain a deeper understanding of the basic concepts of Pancasila ideology and encouraging active student participation in lectures.
