Abstract

This paper examined counter-radicalization at UIN Mataram (Mataram State Islamic  University) through a systematic approach. It focused on the forms, typology, roots, and  gateways of radicalism in the Islamic university. This study categorized the roots of radicalism  as the internal aspect of the system, while the gateways are referred to as the external  component. The findings showed that the efforts to demolish radicalism at UIN Mataram should  be preceded by an understanding of (a) the forms and typology of radicalism, (b) the roots and  gateways of radical ideology, and (c) offering solutions through a systemic approach. These include leadership involvement, disseminating moderate Islamic values (washatiyyah), re examining the curriculum and materials prone to misunderstanding, modifying the pedagogical  methods, involving Islamic boarding schools, and carrying out more studies on radicalism at  Islamic higher education institutions.

Abstract

Budget policies for Islamic education in contemporary Indonesia, especially in the post-New Order era, are still within the authority of the management of the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) of the Republic of Indonesia. In terms of quantity, the amount of budget obtained is still in the low category compared to the national education budget received by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemdikbud) and Kemenristekdikti. Moreover, the budget received by the Ministry of Religion is not all for the implementation of Islamic educational institutions but also for other non-Islamic educational institutions which are the responsibility of the Ministry of Religion. Therefore, this paper discusses how the policy of the Islamic education budget in Indonesia. Also, what is the impact of these policies on the implementation and sustainability of the quality of Islamic education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to describe the pattern of digital literacy development among students of ma’had al-jamiah UIN Maulana Malik Ibrahim Malang. Moreover, it also describes the effectiveness of digital kitab kuning (classic books) used in the learning process. Development of digital literacy is needed not only in formal education, but also for non-formal education such as pesantren. It uses Research and Development method modified by Borg and Gall. It belongs to experimental Research conducted to find out the effectiveness of the product. The result shows an exposure to digital literacy developed in ma'had as well as the use of digital kitab kuning through an android application affected on increasing students’ ability in studying kitab kuning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of character education, its pattern, as well as the factors influencing the pattern of character education among fisherman families of Pecakaran village, Pekalongan regency. This study belongs to qualitative approach and uses field research. The data were collected through interview, observation, and documentation. The collected data, then, were analyzed by using descriptive qualitative data analysis. The result shows: (1) the implementation of character education among fisherman families can be described from its definition, objectives, materials, and the method used in delivering the character education. (2) the pattern of character education conducted by some parents are educating with full of patience, educating with full of affection, educating with neglect, educating with authoritarian style, and educating with democratic style.. (3) the factors influencing the pattern of character education among the fisherman families of Pecakaran village consist of supporting and inhibiting factors. The supporting factors include habituation, exemplary behavior, environmental circumstance, and self-consciousness, while the inhibiting factors include environmental circumstance, lack of parents’ attention, education, as well as parents' religion

Abstract

This research aims to exhibit the learning process of students with autism on the subject of Islamic religious teaching (PAI). This subject is a main course in every level of education including special need education for students with autism. Autism itself is an inheritaged condition during infancy or early childhood that creates difficulty in normal communication and social relation. The result shows that to accommodate the learning process for students with autism, the visual based technology is required to drill and reinforce the materials. The tools can provide visuals and reality that function as demonstration.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the management of PAI learning based on a scientific approach applied in some Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri of Pekalongan residency, the constraints experienced by the teachers in implementing PAI subjects based on scientific approach, and students' responses after having the learning process of PAI based on scientific approach. This study belongs to descriptive qualitative research and uses field research. The data collection was done through interview, observation and documentation. The result shows: (1) the implementation of PAI learning has been conducted well, full of motivation, creative, innovative, systematic, and in accordance with the steps of learning using the formula of 5M. (2) there are three obstacles faced by the teachers in implementing PAI learning based on scientific approach, namely the students’ ability, the teachers’ competence, and the availability of learning facilities. (3) the response shown by the students after experiencing the learning process of the PAI based on scientific approach is that they become more active, communicative, critical, and enthusiastic in the learning process and show high curiosity

Abstract

The diversity of learning styles arises when input to higher education and especially vocational education comes from various sources, including high school (senior high school) or MA (Madrasah Aliyah) and from vocational (Vocational High School) or MAK (Madrasah Aliyah Vocational), so students have a diverse learning style. This research is type of R&D (Reseach and Development), the research procedure consists of: 1) make the needs analysis of products that will be developed based on the potential and problems of moodle-based adpaptive hypermedia; 2) reviewing the study of literature and information by observation; 3) designing basic products; 4) expert validation; 5) revision of product design; 6) designing media; 7) perform a functional trial; 8) first product revision; 9) user trials; 10) second product revision; 11) product implementation. Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning process of Hadith included in PAI (Islamic education) learning of SMAN 1 Teladan Yogyakarta. Moreover, it also aims to explain the factors influencing its learning process as well as the strategy used by the teacher to help the students in understanding some hadith. This study belongs to qualitative research and uses interview as well as observation in getting the data. The research result shows that the learninng process of hadith is carried out by reading some hadith for the tenth graders, memorizing some hadith for the students of eleventh graders, and explaining the meaning of hadith for the students of twelfth graders. In its learning process, it was found that there are some factors influencing students’ understanding both from the teacher as well as the students. The strategies used by the teacher in the learning process include reviewing hadith delivered by the students, making a list of hadith, and asking the students to mentioning the sanad of hadith

Abstract

The present study tries to explain the urgency of ‘maqasid al-shariah’ materials in an Islamic Education subject and the endeavor that teachers attempt to incorporate the values ​​of maqasid al-shariah. Grounded in a qualitative descriptive approach, library research was conducted. Findings of the study promote that firstly, the urgency of maqasid al-shariah-based learning materials in Islamic education is to embed good thoughts and understanding to students concerning the main objectives of establishing Islamic law, i.e., maintaining religion, soul, reasoning, descendants, and property. These five pillars constitute the substance of the teachings of the Qur’an and the Hadith in countering students committing religious intolerance and radicalism. Secondly, Islamic education teachers attempt to internalize the values ​​of maqasid al-shariah to students. It suggests that the teachers should be able to understand the concept of maqasid al-shariah as the main objectives of Islamic tenets provided in Islamic education materials and to master the concept of ‘sabab al-nuzul’ (cause of revelation) of a Qur’anic verse or ‘sabab al-wurud’ (occasion of occurrence) of a hadith to interpret and convey the Qur’anic verses or Hadith not only at the textual level, but also the context one. Likewise, Islamic education teachers are supposed to have sufficient knowledge of the interpretation of the al-mu’tabar (admittedly legitimate) Qur’an so as to provide a comprehensive understanding of the wisdom of al-tasyri’ leading to the maqasid al-shariah.

Abstract

The concept of ‘safety school’ emerges from the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency, such as the existence of students truant, coming late, smoking, drugs, gadget inspection, radicalism proliferation, and insufficient understanding of nationalism. To respond to this growing need, two public junior high schools in Mataram, Indonesia, exist as madrassas that foster ‘zero accident’ education. Grounded in a qualitative case study, this study explores how the two madrassas promoted positive behavior through the innovation of safety school. As a result, the two Islamic educational institutions did not lose their school identities that uphold the value of spirituality. Data were garnered through in-depth interviews and observation. Findings of this study show that in responding to this challenge, the two pilot madrassas proposed safety school innovations. They were not only supported by physical innovations, such as CCTV facilities, security, well-built school wall, determined school rules, and maintenance of madrasa buildings, but are also supported by non-physical innovation, namely: spiritual learning. It was demonstrated in a set of components of religious programs, such as the dhuha and dhuhur prayer and, the environmental care movement, one day one verse program, the strengthening the Qur’an tajweed and Tahfiz the Qur’an, Imtaq (iman and taqwa) program, community-based madrasa, and the use of religious laboratories.
