This study aims to analyze the judges’ legal considerations in granting child custody to a father who is a drug addict, as reflected in Decision No. 1039/Pdt.G/2023/PA.Lpk Jo No. 89/Pdt.G/2023/PTA.Mdn Jo No. 103K/Ag/2024. Using a normative juridical method with statutory and case approaches, the research focuses on examining the conformity between the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) and Law No. 35 of 2014 on Child Protection in relation to judicial reasoning in hadhanah (child custody) cases. The findings reveal that the Child Protection Law emphasizes legal safeguards for children, while the KHI provides detailed provisions on parental rights and responsibilities in child care. At the first level, the court granted custody to the father based on the mother’s busy work schedule, referring to Supreme Court Jurisprudence No. 110K/AG/2007. However, the appellate court ruled that such reasoning contradicted Article 105(a) of the KHI, which clearly stipulates that custody of children who are not yet mumayyiz belongs to the mother. The Supreme Court subsequently rejected the cassation appeal, affirming that the appellate decision was consistent with the law. This study underscores the importance of upholding the principle of the best interest of the child as the primary consideration in all custody determinations.

Islamic boarding schools are educational institutions that provide both formal and non-formal learning for their students. Anwarul Haromain Islamic Boarding School in Baruharjo, Durenan, Trenggalek, represents a modern Islamic education model that applies a mono-management system, integrating three formal education levels (junior high school, senior high school, and vocational school) under one institutional leadership. This research aims to analyze the implementation strategy, management process, and leadership pattern in developing a one-roof educational institution. The study employs a qualitative descriptive method with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that leadership at Anwarul Haromain Islamic Boarding School is centered on the kiai as the visionary leader, supported by the heads of madrasah and administrative staff who act as policy executors. The mono-management system enhances effectiveness, efficiency, and institutional coordination, while challenges related to communication and resistance are mitigated through regular coordination meetings. Theoretically, this study contributes to the discourse on Islamic educational management by highlighting the integration of leadership and institutional strategy in one-roof pesantren systems. Practically, it provides insights for pesantren administrators seeking to strengthen institutional governance.

This study examines the dynamics of character education in the implementation of Sangu Lirboyo, a cashless system at the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in Kediri. As the largest salaf Islamic boarding school in Indonesia, Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School not only maintains the tradition of classical Islamic knowledge, but also integrates modern technology to improve efficiency and transparency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, including observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis. The research findings show that the implementation of Sangu Lirboyo is not only aimed at improving the efficiency of financial transactions, but also as a means of character education for students. Through this system, students are taught the values of honesty, responsibility, and discipline in managing finances and permits. Guardians of students can monitor students' expenses and activities through digital applications, thus encouraging transparency and accountability.

The shahada, the foundational declaration of faith in Islam, exerts profound influence on the psychological dimensions of a Muslim's life. This article seeks to examine the psychological facets of the shahada through a comprehensive literature review. The research identifies three primary dimensions: cognitive beliefs, emotional commitment, and behavioral expression. Cognitive beliefs derived from the shahada provide a mental framework that shapes perceptions and decisions, enabling individuals to interpret life experiences within the Islamic worldview. Emotional commitment to the shahada fosters emotional stability and well-being, thereby reinforcing spiritual bonds with Allah and His Messenger. Meanwhile, behavioral expression reflects the manifestation of the shahada in everyday actions, strengthening self-identity and enhancing social cohesion within the Muslim community. The integration of these three dimensions demonstrates that the shahada is not merely a declaration of faith but a profound psychological foundation that supports mental health and well-being. This article underscores the critical importance of a deep understanding of the shahada within the context of Islamic psychology and its broader implications for mental health practice and spiritual life.

The accuracy of recommendation systems is vital for successful personalization in e-commerce. However, the low frequency of repeat purchases creates hight data sparsity, limiting models in capturing user preferences. This study compares two latent factor-based algorithms. Matrix Factorization (MF) and Neural Matrix Factorization (NeuMF), using the Olist transaction dataset through data preparation, k-core filtering, and leave last out splitting. Performance was evaluated using HR@10 and NDCG@10. Results show that MF outperforms NeuMF, achieving HR@10 of 0,057 and NDCG@10 of 0,133. Although NeuMD is more complex and represents a deeper learning-based approach, MF can still be more suitable in certain data conditions, especially when interaction are limited. These findings highlight that simpler models may remain more efficient under sparse data, while NeuMF requires richer interactions histories. The study emphasizes repeat purchase frequency as a key factor in designing adaptive reommendations systems.

The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has implemented affirmative action policies for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in response to Law No. 8 of 2016, introducing new dynamics into a recruitment system historically characterized by hierarchical structures and physical fitness standards. This study examines the interaction between the merit system and affirmative action in Polri’s recruitment of PWDs, with a particular focus on the realization of substantive justice. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical method, this research relies on secondary audiovisual data and literature review, and is theoretically grounded in merit system, recruitment, and affirmative action frameworks. The findings indicate that Polri applies the BETAH principles (Clean, Transparent, Accountable, and Humanist), which are consistent with merit-based recruitment when complemented by reasonable accommodations, including adjusted selection and testing mechanisms, to ensure equal opportunities for PWDs. While this policy reflects a progressive approach, its effectiveness remains contingent upon the development of adaptive technical guidelines and diversified assessment instruments to safeguard objectivity and moral legitimacy in the recruitment process. The study contributes novelty by conceptualizing affirmative action not as a departure from meritocracy, but as a corrective mechanism that addresses the limitations of procedural merit in achieving substantive fairness within inclusive recruitment practices.

This study addresses the growing global burden of diabetes by evaluating whether ensemble-based machine learning models can support reliable and cost-efficient early risk prediction. Moving beyond accuracy-centered evaluation, the study integrates cost-sensitive threshold optimization and probability calibration to enhance clinical relevance. Random Forest and XGBoost are evaluated using two datasets with contrasting population characteristics. Model performance is examined in terms of discriminative ability, calibration quality, and total misclassification cost. The results indicate that while XGBoost remains competitive on small-scale datasets, Random Forest provides more stable calibration and more consistent cost efficiency. These findings suggest that cost-sensitive and calibrated ensemble approaches have the potential to support more rational and economically efficient diabetes screening policies.

This research aims to analyze changes to the parliamentary threshold within Indonesia's electoral system and review its compatibility with the principle of legal certainty, particularly following the Constitutional Court Decision No. 166/PUU-XXI/2023. The parliamentary threshold is a technical electoral instrument that determines whether a political party is entitled to obtain seats in the House of Representatives (DPR) based on the national valid vote acquisition. In practice, this threshold has undergone significant changes from 2.5% (2009) to 4% (2019–2024), which has resulted in the elimination of votes for small parties and potentially reduces the constitutional rights of voters. This study utilizes a normative juridical approach with descriptive-qualitative analysis techniques to examine the relevant laws and regulations and Constitutional Court decisions. The findings indicate that the determination of the threshold figure has not been based on transparent, proportional, and fair academic arguments. Constitutional Court Decision No. 166/PUU-XXI/2023 reinforces the importance of the principle of legal certainty in formulating threshold policies so as not to undermine citizens' political participation and not contradict the principle of popular sovereignty. This research recommends that the parliamentary threshold be re-evaluated through a comprehensive and inclusive academic study, in order to realize an electoral system that is fairer, more proportional, and aligned with the principles of constitutional democracy.

Islamic financial literacy (IFL) is crucial for fostering responsible financial behavior in Muslim communities, yet empirical evidence from pesantren ecosystems remains limited. This study investigates the relationship between IFL and saving and investment behaviors among stakeholders at Pondok Pesantren Karangdurin. Using a quantitative approach, the study surveyed 120 respondents, comprising administrators, alumni, parents, and students, selected through stratified purposive sampling, and analyzed the data using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression models, ANOVA, and post hoc Tukey HSD tests. Results reveal strong positive correlations between IFL and both saving (r = 0.47) and investment behaviors (r = 0.77). Regression analysis shows that IFL explains 22.15% of saving behavior and 59.23% of investment behavior variance. Significant differences are observed across stakeholder groups, with administrators demonstrating the highest literacy and behavioral scores. This study extends Islamic financial literacy behavior theory to a pesantren based, multi stakeholder context, providing novel empirical evidence on intra institutional disparities and supporting the design of differentiated, stakeholder-specific financial education interventions.
