Abstract

This article explores a central theme in Sufi tradition: the concept of wujūd (being), with a particular focus on the thought of Ibn Arabi. His metaphysical views are often regarded as paradoxical, giving rise to multiple interpretations, especially within the framework of negative theology, or tanāquḍ al-wujūd (the contradiction of existence). According to Ibn Arabi, the existence of God transcends the limits of human intellect, and any attempt to conceptualize the Divine inherently falls short. Thus, understanding true existence necessitates the rejection of fixed conceptual boundaries. This study also examines Ibn Arabi’s view of existence as a singular reality that lies beyond human description. This notion is foundational to his understanding of the relationship between God and the cosmos and reflects the core of his metaphysical system. Employing a qualitative method through a literature review of classical and contemporary sources, this research aims to analyze Ibn Arabi’s ontological paradigm critically. By doing so, the article contributes to a deeper understanding of the dialectic between the sacred and the secular within Sufi thought, offering insights into how Ibn Arabi’s mystical philosophy challenges conventional theological discourse.

Abstract

The increasing number of drug users in Indonesia, including students, college students, and prisoners, has led to significant changes in the personalities and mental health of those involved. Therefore, this study focuses on the personality profiles associated with drug addiction in inmates. The purpose of this study is to analyze the personality characteristics of inmates involved in drug cases and the psychological effects of addiction on their social, cognitive, and affective aspects. Primary data collection was conducted through direct observation, interviews, document analysis, and the use of relevant psychological tests. The results indicate that inmates involved in drug cases experience problems with social interaction, concentration, and decision-making, as well as emotional instability such as anxiety, depression, and regret. The ego-avoidance mechanism of repression was also identified as a reaction to childhood trauma and an unsupportive social environment. The effects of drug addiction are evident in feelings of anxiety, worry, and physical dependence when not using drugs. Guidance and rehabilitation efforts in prisons must address psychological, social, and environmental dimensions to ensure effective recovery and reduce the risk of relapse.

Abstract

This study examines linguistic politeness strategies among netizens in the comment section of the TikTok account @erick.thohir concerning the naturalisation of football players. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, comments were categorised into criticism, questions, support, and other forms of expression. Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory was applied to identify polite and impolite strategies, while Labov’s sociolinguistic framework revealed how variations in speech styles reflect social identities. Findings show that, despite the informal and emotive tone of interaction, netizens largely uphold politeness norms in voicing opinions. Theoretically, this study contributes to digital pragmatics by integrating politeness theory and sociolinguistics to highlight nationalism-oriented discourse on a short-video platform. It demonstrates how TikTok serves as a site where digital communication ethics, identity negotiation, and civic participation intersect.

Abstract

Waqf holds an important position in Islam, both as an act of worship with spiritual value and as a socio-economic instrument to support community welfare. However, the practice of waqf management in Indonesia still faces serious obstacles, including the economic limitations of the community, low legal literacy, and the weak capacity of nazhir in developing waqf assets. This condition demands institutional strengthening and legal certainty so that waqf management can be carried out in accordance with Islamic law and Law Number 41 of 2004 on Waqf. This study aims to analyze the legal responsibility of Yayasan ZIS Al-Ikhlas as a nazhir in the management and development of waqf assets, assess its compliance with statutory regulations, and identify the challenges encountered in practice. The research method applied is normative legal research with statutory and conceptual approaches, supported by empirical data obtained through interviews with foundation administrators and related parties. The data were analyzed qualitatively by emphasizing the correlation between legal norms and field implementation. The findings indicate that legal certainty is a crucial aspect in the implementation of waqf to guarantee the protection of all parties’ rights. The role of notaries in drafting the Waqf Pledge Deed (Akta Ikrar Wakaf/AIW) is proven to be highly significant in strengthening waqf legality, as emphasized in Government Regulation Number 42 of 2006. Nevertheless, Yayasan ZIS Al-Ikhlas still faces limitations in asset development planning, managerial transparency, and nazhir resources. Theoretically, this study affirms that nazhir’s legal responsibility not only covers administrative compliance with regulations but also encompasses public and managerial accountability. These findings contribute to the development of waqf legal studies in Indonesia by stressing the importance of professionalizing nazhir, building synergy with legal authorities, and innovating management practices to make waqf more productive and sustainable in supporting community welfare.

Abstract

A valid marriage under Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 1974 is one conducted in accordance with religious law, provided it does not contradict the Marriage Law. However, in practice, unregistered marriages, including polygamous ones, still occur and generate significant legal consequences, particularly in divorce cases. This study aims to examine the validity of itsbat nikah (marriage validation) for unregistered polygamous marriages within Indonesia’s positive law, to analyze its position as a form of legal protection for wives in divorce proceedings, and to evaluate judicial considerations in Religious Court Decision Number 43/Pdt.G/2021/PA.Batg. Using a normative juridical approach, supported by literature review and case analysis, this research finds that the rejection of itsbat nikah in this case was legally flawed. The absence of valid evidence of the husband’s first marriage led to the neglect of the wife’s rights. Article 71 of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) clearly states that itsbat nikah is designed to acknowledge marriages valid under religion, even when unregistered, rather than to legitimize unlawful polygamy. These findings highlight the need for more consistent judicial interpretation to ensure the protection of women’s rights in unregistered polygamous marriages.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of charismatic leadership, organizational justice, and emotional intelligence on organizational citizenship behavior (OCB) among millennial employees in the banking sector, with affective commitment as a mediating variable. The research was conducted in Pontianak City, involving 250 banking employees aged 28–43 years who had worked for at least one year. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale, while the analysis was carried out through Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The results indicate that charismatic leadership, organizational justice, and emotional intelligence positively and significantly affect OCB, both directly and indirectly through affective commitment. These findings support previous studies emphasizing the role of leadership, fairness, and emotional intelligence in fostering extra-role behavior. Theoretically, this research contributes to the literature by integrating three key antecedents within the framework of social exchange theory. Practically, the results recommend that banks develop charismatic leadership training, implement transparent justice systems, and provide emotional intelligence development programs to strengthen the affective commitment of millennial employees. Such efforts are expected to reduce turnover intention and encourage OCB, thereby supporting the sustainable competitiveness of the Indonesian banking sector.

Abstract

This study analyzes the legal position of testimonium de auditu witnesses in itsbat nikah cases at the Mahkamah Syar’iyah Bireuen. Normatively, Indonesian civil procedure law through Article 171 HIR and Article 1907 of the Civil Code requires witnesses to provide testimony based on direct knowledge, thereby rejecting hearsay as valid evidence. However, in practice, especially in itsbat nikah cases where direct witnesses are often unavailable, judges frequently face demands to consider such testimony. Using a normative-empirical approach, this research combines legal analysis of statutory provisions and jurisprudence with field data from case studies and interviews with judges. The findings reveal that the Mahkamah Syar’iyah Bireuen consistently does not treat testimonium de auditu as primary evidence, but only as complementary proof that must be supported by other evidence such as documents or direct witness testimony. The implication is a balance between legal certainty and substantive justice, ensuring protection for women and children from unregistered marriages while maintaining procedural safeguards.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of TikTok as an instructional medium for developing maharah kalām (oral proficiency) in Arabic language acquisition among students at the Islamic University of Tribakti Lirboyo, Kediri. Using an experimental pre-test–post-test design, the research assessed improvements in students’ oral competence after TikTok integration as a pedagogical tool. Findings revealed a statistically significant positive impact on Arabic oral proficiency: the calculated t-value of 8.32 exceeded the critical t-value of 2.01 at the 0.05 significance level. Students’ mean scores improved from 62.35 to 81.47. Substantial progress occurred across oral proficiency subcomponents: fluency (61.2-82.5), grammatical accuracy (58.7-76.8), lexical appropriateness (65.3-84.2), and pronunciation (63.8-79.3). Student engagement also increased, with active participation rising from 45% to 87% and average speaking duration per session extending from 2.3 to 5.7 minutes, reflecting greater confidence and sustained communicative performance. These results highlight TikTok’s potential as an innovative and effective platform for enhancing Arabic oral proficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the fundamental concepts, origins, and significance of Maqasid al-Qur’an in the interpretation of Qur’anic verses. Maqasid al-Qur’an refers to the endeavor of uncovering the divine objectives and purposes underlying the Qur’anic text, which essentially guide humanity toward a better life in accordance with the principles established by Allah SWT. Methodologically, this research employs a qualitative approach through library research, emphasizing descriptive analysis of both classical and contemporary literature in Qur’anic exegesis and ‘ulūm al-Qur’an. The findings indicate that the concept of Maqasid al-Qur’an has been discussed by numerous scholars within various works of tafsir and Qur’anic studies, generally categorized into two types: maqasid ‘ammah (general objectives) and maqasid khassah (specific objectives). Furthermore, maqasid can be identified within the linguistic structure of the Qur’an—ranging from chapters and words to letters—each containing profound semantic and rhetorical dimensions. These findings affirm that the application of Maqasid al-Qur’an in interpretation not only enriches exegetical methodology but also reinforces the Qur’an’s role as a universal guide for human life. Theoretically, this research contributes to strengthening the paradigm of tafsir maqāṣidī—an interpretative approach that positions divine objectives and values as the epistemological foundation in understanding the Qur’an. This approach offers the potential to integrate textual and contextual dimensions in Qur’anic studies, thereby enhancing the relevance of tafsir in addressing contemporary intellectual and humanitarian challenges.

Abstract

This study investigates the enduring impact of KH. Abdi Manaf’s transformational leadership on the self-efficacy of educators at Yayasan Darul Ulum Rebalas Pasuruan after his passing. Addressing the gap in existing literature, it explores how Islamic spiritual and charismatic leadership values persist within organizational culture. Using a qualitative intrinsic case study design, data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed thematically. Four key themes emerged: exemplary conduct, inspiration and motivation, adaptation and innovation, and the inheritance of leadership values, supported by contextual factors such as intergenerational challenges and external assistance. The findings reveal that KH. Abdi Manaf’s leadership fostered a sustainable value system that continues to guide educators’ professional identity and confidence. The study extends transformational leadership theory by integrating spiritual-cultural dimensions specific to Islamic education, offering both theoretical contributions and practical implications for leadership development and organizational sustainability
