Abstract

The reliability of a standby power system is essential for maintaining airport operations during disruptions to the primary electricity supply. Generator sets (gensets) serve as emergency power sources for critical facilities, including the Airfield Lighting System (AFL), Air Traffic Control (ATC), communication systems, and air navigation equipment. This study analyzes the reliability of the standby generator system at Sentani International Airport, evaluates its maintenance management, identifies factors affecting reliability, and examines its contribution to airport power resilience. A qualitative case study approach was employed using in-depth interviews, direct observations of two 1000 kVA generator units and supporting systems, and document analysis of maintenance records and operational procedures. Data were analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model, while credibility was ensured through triangulation and member checking. The findings show that the standby generator system provides reliable backup power through redundant generator units, an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), and structured preventive maintenance. Nevertheless, system reliability is constrained by a semi-automatic Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) requiring 30–40 seconds for power transfer, limited digital fuel monitoring, utility voltage fluctuations, and logistical constraints. The study proposes an integrated framework combining technical, maintenance, power transfer, and organizational aspects to strengthen airport electrical system resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to explore forgiveness as a coping strategy for relational wounds with parents among emerging adults. This study employed a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design to understand participants' subjective experiences in making meaning of painful relationships with their parents. The research participants consisted of three emerging adults selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Reflexive Thematic Analysis developed by Braun and Clarke (2006) and further clarified in their 2019 work. The results of the study revealed five major themes: relational wounds with parents, distress experiences resulting from relational wounds with parents, efforts to cope with relational wounds with parents, the process of meaning reconstruction toward the experience of the relationship with parents, and forgiveness as a coping strategy toward relational wounds with parents. These findings indicate that forgiveness does not occur instantly, but rather develops through a gradual psychological process, beginning with the experience of distress, survival efforts, self-reflection, and ultimately acceptance of past experiences. Accordingly, forgiveness can be understood as an adaptive coping strategy that helps individuals release emotional burdens and attain psychological calm.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of social support and organizational support on the performance of car rental driver employees in Cirebon City, with affective commitment as a mediating variable. The study is grounded in the phenomenon of low performance stability, high absenteeism, and fluctuating productivity among drivers, which indicate weak emotional attachment to the organization. This research adopts a quantitative associative approach using a survey method on 200 car rental drivers selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4.0. The results show that social support and organizational support have a positive and significant effect on employee performance, both directly and through affective commitment. Affective commitment explains 63% of the variance in itself and contributes to 69% of the variance in employee performance. These findings confirm that strengthening social support and organizational support enhances affective commitment, which in turn improves the performance of car rental drivers in Cirebon City.

Abstract

Village expansion is a public policy that is shaped not only by administrative requirements but also by governance dynamics and local political processes involving multiple stakeholders. This study aims to analyze the governance of the establishment of Lewouran Village from the perspective of local politics by examining the patterns of interaction, negotiation, and power relations among actors involved in the village expansion process. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis involving village government officials, sub-district authorities, customary leaders, community leaders, the village expansion committee, and local residents. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. The findings reveal that the governance of Lewouran Village expansion was constructed through dynamic interactions between formal and informal actors. Community aspirations emerged as the primary driving force behind the expansion process, followed by negotiations with the village government, the establishment of an expansion committee, and the legitimization of the process through customary institutions. Furthermore, the process was characterized by competing interests, institutional co-optation, and adaptive strategies to fulfill administrative requirements. The study concludes that the success of village expansion depends not only on regulatory compliance but also on the capacity of stakeholders to develop collaborative governance that integrates the interests of local communities, village authorities, and customary institutions. This study contributes to the literature on village governance by highlighting the strategic role of collaboration between formal and informal institutions in shaping new village governance.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the relationship between self-esteem and social loafing behavior among students of the Informatics Engineering Study Program at Bina Darma University, Palembang. Social loafing refers to the tendency of individuals to reduce their effort when working in groups compared to working individually. One of the psychological factors associated with this behavior is self-esteem. This study employed a quantitative correlational research design. The participants consisted of 172 active students from the Informatics Engineering Study Program at Bina Darma University, selected using a probability sampling technique. Data were collected using the Self-Esteem Scale and the Social Loafing Scale, both developed based on relevant theoretical frameworks. Data were analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment correlation. The results showed a significant negative relationship between self-esteem and social loafing (r = –0.462, p < 0.05). These findings indicate that students with higher self-esteem tend to exhibit lower levels of social loafing in group assignments. Conversely, students with lower self-esteem are more likely to demonstrate social loafing behavior. Students with positive self-esteem tend to be more confident, responsible, and actively contribute to group work. This study contributes to a better understanding of the psychological factors influencing students' participation in collaborative learning and may serve as a reference for developing strategies to improve teamwork effectiveness in higher education.

Abstract

Singing as a teaching method in early childhood education plays a crucial role in stimulating children’s cognitive development through enjoyable, concrete, and repetitive learning activities. This study aims to describe the role of singing as a teaching method in developing the cognitive abilities of young children at Aisyiyah Al Amin Kindergarten in Surakarta. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach. The research subjects consisted of one classroom teacher and 12 children aged 4–5 years in Group A, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis utilized the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that the singing method plays a role in developing three cognitive aspects based on the STPPA indicators, namely symbolic thinking, logical thinking, and learning and problem-solving. After ten learning sessions, no child was categorized as “Not Yet Developed.” Songs containing numbers, letters, colors, shapes, and simple cause-and-effect concepts help children remember, group, sequence, and understand learning material more effectively. Thus, the singing method can be used as an effective pedagogical strategy to support the cognitive development of young children.

Abstract

Low-carbon steel is one of the most widely used engineering materials due to its excellent ductility, good weldability, and ease of fabrication for various industrial applications. However, variations in operating temperature can significantly affect its ability to absorb impact energy, resulting in changes in its mechanical behavior and fracture characteristics. This study aimed to analyze the effect of temperature variation on the impact toughness of low-carbon steel using the Charpy impact test. An experimental research design was employed using low-carbon steel containing 0.159% carbon, as determined by chemical composition analysis. Charpy impact testing was conducted at seven temperature levels: −50°C, −30°C, −10°C, 0°C, 10°C, 30°C, and 50°C. Data were analyzed descriptively by calculating the absorbed impact energy and impact toughness based on the effective cross-sectional area of the specimens. The results showed that increasing temperature significantly improved both absorbed impact energy and impact toughness, with impact energy increasing from 21.28 J at −50°C to 65.27 J at 50°C and impact toughness increasing from 0.387 J/mm² to 1.187 J/mm². These findings indicate that higher temperatures enhance the plastic deformation capability of low-carbon steel, while lower temperatures promote brittle fracture. The novelty of this study lies in providing comprehensive experimental data on the relationship between temperatures ranging from −50°C to 50°C and the impact toughness of low-carbon steel containing 0.159% carbon, providing valuable information for material selection under various service temperature conditions.

Abstract

The adoption of smart farming in horticulture is increasingly important for improving productivity and promoting sustainable agriculture. However, previous studies have mainly focused on the pre-adoption stage, while determinants influencing technology use after adoption remain underexplored. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of smart farming adoption at the post-adoption stage and examine its effects on farm productivity and sustainability. A quantitative explanatory design was employed using survey data from 70 horticultural farmers in West Bandung Regency, Indonesia. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results revealed that Perceived Usefulness (PU), Observability (OBS), and Image (IMG) positively and significantly influenced the level of smart farming adoption. In contrast, Perceived Ease of Use (PEOU), Relative Advantage (RA), Compatibility (COMP), and Trialability (TRI) showed no significant effects. Moreover, smart farming adoption had positive and significant effects on both farm productivity and farming sustainability. These findings indicate that, at the post-adoption stage, farmers’ actual experiences, perceived benefits, and social recognition play more important roles than the initial characteristics of the innovation. This study extends the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and Innovation Diffusion Theory (IDT) by demonstrating that determinants of technology adoption evolve across different stages of technology use, providing implications for policies promoting sustainable digital agriculture.
