Abstract

Internship program (PKL) is a learning for students to gain structured and relevant work experience before graduating from an academic program. This study aims to analyze the effect of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and Field Work Practice (PKL) on the competency mastery of students in the Light Vehicle Engineering (LVE) specialization at vocational high schools (SMKs) in Kotamobagu City. The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is expected to improve the quality of learning through a flexible, student-centered approach, while Field Work Practice provides students with authentic workplace experience to strengthen competencies aligned with the needs of industry and the labor market. This study employed a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design. The population consisted of Light Vehicle Engineering students from four vocational high schools in Kotamobagu City who had completed their Field Work Practice program. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression to determine the partial and simultaneous effects of the independent variables on students' competency mastery. The findings are expected to indicate that both the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and Field Work Practice have a positive and significant effect on students' competency mastery. Simultaneously, these two variables contribute to improving students' knowledge, technical skills, and professional attitudes in accordance with industry requirements. The results of this study are expected to provide valuable insights for schools, teachers, and industry partners in optimizing the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum and Field Work Practice programs to produce competent, professional, and work-ready vocational graduates

Abstract

Learning success is influenced by several factors, one of them is learning media. The shift from teacher-centered learning to student-centered learning requires teachers to act as facilitators in developing media that support learner independence. This study aims to develop MOSHEE (E-module and E-jobsheet) based on Book Creator and to examine its feasibility and effectiveness in improving students’ learning independence in the Network Measurement Tools subject for Grade X TKJ students at SMKN Prigen, Pasuruan. This research employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model, which consists of the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The trial was conducted through a quasi-experimental design involving two groups, namely the experimental class and the control class. The results showed that the media validity level reached 93.75%, categorized as highly valid, while the material validity reached 95.07%, categorized as highly feasible. Students’ learning independence reached 90%, indicating that MOSHEE was able to improve students’ learning independence. In addition, a reliability test of the learning independence questionnaire instrument was conducted, resulting in a reliability value of 0.801, which is included in the high category. Based on these findings, MOSHEE is considered feasible as a learning medium and effective in improving students’ learning independence.

Abstract

Vocational education has increasingly adopted Project-Based Learning (PjBL) as an instructional approach to strengthen students' technical capabilities while simultaneously fostering a wide range of professional competencies. Existing evidence, however, remains scattered across different vocational disciplines and educational contexts, limiting a comprehensive understanding of how PjBL has been implemented. This study presents a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) to examine the key success factors, implementation challenges, and educational impacts of Project-Based Learning within vocational education. The review was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 framework, with Scopus serving as the primary database for identifying relevant publications. Following the screening and eligibility process, 40 studies satisfied the inclusion criteria and were incorporated into the final qualitative synthesis. The synthesis identified project design, student collaboration, and technology integration as the principal factors associated with the successful implementation of PjBL. The most frequently reported challenges were student readiness, teacher readiness, and time constraints. In addition, the reviewed studies consistently demonstrated that PjBL enhances students' technical skills, soft skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and employability. Overall, the findings suggest that PjBL represents an effective pedagogical approach for advancing vocational education while equipping graduates to respond to evolving industrial requirements and technological change.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and assess the feasibility of AI Adam CAD-assisted microlearning video media for Manufacturing Technical Drawing learning at SMK Negeri 52 Jakarta. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), with the scope limited to the Develop stage. The developed product consists of microlearning videos covering 3D model creation using AI Adam CAD and technical drawing production using Autodesk Inventor, delivered through a web-based platform. Feasibility was evaluated by a content expert, a media expert, and Grade XI Machining Engineering students through questionnaires. Results indicate that the content expert rated the media at 97% (Very Feasible), the media expert at 96% (Very Feasible), and student responses reached 94% (Very Feasible). These findings confirm that the developed media meets feasibility criteria as an independent learning support tool for Manufacturing Technical Drawing at the vocational secondary level. Subsequent studies are encouraged to carry out the Disseminate phase in full and assess the media's effectiveness through an experimental design.

Abstract

This study falls within the field of vocational education, specifically examining student learning autonomy in deep learning at vocational high schools. The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of the school environment and learning motivation on the learning autonomy of 11th-grade students in the culinary arts program at State Vocational High School 6 in Semarang. This study employs a quantitative approach with an ex post facto design. The study population consisted of 139 students, while the sample of 103 students was determined using the Slovin formula and proportionate random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and documentation, then analyzed using validity and reliability tests, descriptive analysis, classical assumption tests, simple regression, multiple regression, and the coefficient of determination. The results indicate that the school environment and learning motivation have a positive and significant effect on learning autonomy, both partially and simultaneously. Learning motivation has a more dominant influence than the school environment. Together, these two variables account for 58.7% of the variation in students’ learning autonomy. This study contributes to the development of vocational education research by emphasizing the importance of a supportive school environment and strengthening learning motivation in fostering students’ learning autonomy.

Abstract

Learning management systems record the exact time students submit their work, yet this behavioral trace is rarely used to examine student performance. This study investigated whether the hour at which a student submits the most technically demanding formative assessment in an engineering design module predicts both that assignment mark and the final module outcome. Data were drawn from three consecutive cohorts (2023–2025) of students enrolled in Design Project III, a Level 6 module at the Central University of Technology, Free State, South Africa. Submission timestamps for 387 student-year records were extracted from the Blackboard Learning Management System and classified into four deadline-day time bands. Statistical analysis revealed a significant negative relationship between submission hour and Submission 2 mark (Pearson r = −0.21, p < .001), with students who submitted in the last hour (16:00–17:00) scoring a mean of 54.32% compared with 64.22% for morning submitters (a gap of 9.9 percentage points). This effect carried through to the final module mark (r =−0.15, p = .003). Critically, no comparable effect was found at the summative final submission (p =.619), confirming that the relationship is specific to the intermediate, high-complexity assessment stage. These findings suggest that submission timing may serve as a practical early warning indicator of academic risk in engineering design modules.

Abstract

Given technological advancements, innovation is required to better tailor project-based learning to students who are predominantly "digital natives." Consequently, combining project-based learning with technology offers an ideal solution, particularly within the context of higher education. Blended project-based learning enables students to access materials, engage in discussions, and complete coursework and projects—whether face-to-face or virtually and through both synchronous and asynchronous modes. The application of blended project-based learning allows for the integration of technology, thereby enriching the teaching and learning process and motivating learners to participate actively. The hypothesis proposed is that there is a significant difference in conceptual understanding between the group using the blended project-based learning strategy and the group using the project-based learning strategy. The findings of this study indicate a difference in students' conceptual understanding between those taught using the blended project-based learning strategy and those taught using project-based learning. It is advisable to possess technological proficiency, a strong willingness to learn, and a sense of curiosity. These qualities are crucial for the success of the blended learning process, given that blended learning is an instructional strategy that operates across various contexts and timeframes

Abstract

This study aims to develop a pyrolysis learning medium in the form of a practicum apparatus and an interactive e-module to support learning in the Renewable Energy course in the Mechanical Engineering Education Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret. This research is motivated by the limited availability of practical learning media, which has caused pyrolysis learning to be predominantly theoretical. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model. Media validation was conducted by subject-matter experts and media experts, while user testing involved 13 students. Data were collected using expert validation questionnaires, pretest–posttest instruments, user trial questionnaires, and interviews. The validation results indicated a very high level of feasibility, with scores of 95% from subject-matter experts and 81.76% from media experts, while user testing showed a feasibility level of 82.4%. The developed learning media helped students understand the pyrolysis process in a visual and applicative manner and increased their engagement and conceptual understanding. Therefore, this study contributes to the enhancement of Renewable Energy learning through the provision of contextual pyrolysis practicum media and has important implications for improving the quality of technical and vocational education by integrating practice-based and technology-enhanced learning.

Abstract

Tax regulations in Indonesia have experienced dynamic developments since the enactment of the Law on Harmonization of Tax Regulations (UU HPP). This condition necessitates the availability of up-to-date teaching materials in Vocational High Schools (SMK) for the Accounting and Institutional Finance Skill Program. This study aims to develop a Tax Administration learning module integrated with the latest regulations and to analyze its feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness in improving student understanding. The Research and Development (R&D) method utilizing the ADDIE model was applied to 32 eleventh-grade students at a Vocational High School in Pasuruan, East Java. Data were collected through expert validation sheets, response questionnaires, and learning outcomes tests. The results showed that the module was highly feasible (material expert 80%, media expert 82%) and highly practical (85%). The effectiveness test using N-Gain obtained a score of 0.4 (medium category), indicating an improvement in student understanding. Therefore, the Tax Administration learning module integrated with the latest tax regulations is considered feasible, practical, and effective as a learning resource for improving vocational high school students' understanding of taxation.

Abstract

This study aims to map the trends, research focus, and developmental dynamics of studies on digital learning media in technical and vocational education during the period 2016–2026. The study employed a bibliometric analysis approach conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, with data mining carried out using the Dimensions database. The analysis was performed using VOSviewer software to identify research trends, keyword relationships, and patterns of author collaboration. The results indicate that the number of publications fluctuated but showed an overall upward trend, with a significant increase after 2021 and reaching a peak in 2025. Based on network visualization and overlay visualization results, research on digital learning media in technical and vocational education demonstrates an interconnected thematic structure that evolves dynamically. The keyword “vocational education and training” serves as a central node integrating various topics, such as learning and learning outcomes, the use of multimedia and technology, the development of media based on the ADDIE model, the utilization of virtual laboratories, and the implementation of immersive technologies such as augmented reality. Over time, the research focus has shifted from online learning and conventional multimedia toward more advanced digital technologies grounded in cognitive theory, such as cognitive load theory, android-based courseware, and the strengthening of 21st-century skills relevant to industry needs. Overall, the findings indicate substantial research opportunities related to the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital learning media within the field of technical and vocational education, and this topic is recommended as a direction for future research
