Abstract

Application of the Jigsaw Learning Model to Improve Biology Learning Outcomes on the Human Excretory System in Class XI Science 1 and Science 2 of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar, Pematang Bandar District, Simalungun Regency. The purpose of this study was to improve the learning outcomes of class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar in the 2021/2022 academic year using Jigsaw learning. The subjects of this study were 30 class XI Science 1 and Science 2 students of SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar, Pematang Bandar District, Simalungun Regency, in the 2021/2022 academic year. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach with Classroom Action Research (CAR) type which was implemented for one month, from March to April, in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The data collection techniques used in this study are (1) Participant observation method because the teacher as a researcher also observes and is observed directly by collaborators who also observe the activeness of teachers and students during the learning process. (2) Documentation method, used to determine the initial abilities of students and to obtain data about SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar, Pematang Bandar District, Simalungun Regency which includes history, geographical location, and also about its vision and mission, (3) Test method is used to determine student learning outcomes after working on the questions given at the end of learning in each cycle. The conclusion of the study is that the application of the Jigsaw learning model can improve student activity and learning outcomes in biology learning in class XI SMA Negeri 1 Pematang Bandar in the 2021/2022 Academic Year. This can be seen in the results of the analysis of learning outcome data in each cycle which has increased. Cycle I with a class average of 69.7%, student absorption of 73.7%, and student learning completeness of 70%. Meanwhile, the results of the second cycle test showed an average score of 80.4%, an absorption rate of 78.8%, and a student learning achievement of 90%. Based on the data above, this research is very useful for improving teacher competency in developing students' knowledge about the excretory system at school. The application of the Jigsaw learning model can also improve the quality of the learning process about the excretory system for students, thereby improving the quality of teacher and student activities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the guided inquiry model on students' conceptual understanding and learning interests. The population in this study were seventh-grade students of SMP Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar in the 2021/2022 academic year, consisting of three classes totaling 93 students. The research sample was taken using Cluster Random Sampling, obtaining class VII-2 as the experimental class and VII-3 as the control class, totaling 62 students. The instruments used in the study were questionnaires and tests. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA with a significance level of 5% (α = 0.05) using SPSS'21. The results of the hypothesis testing on conceptual understanding ability obtained F count = 15.60, while F table at the 4.001 level. Because F count > F table with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. The results of the hypothesis testing on student learning interest obtained F count = 53.11, while F table 4.001. Because F count > F table with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. It was concluded that there is a significant effect of the guided inquiry learning model on students' conceptual understanding and learning interest in environmental pollution material for seventh-grade students at Yayasan Perguruan Keluarga Pematangsiantar Junior High School in the 2021/2022 academic year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes and the magnitude of the differences in student learning outcomes using the role-playing learning model and conventional methods on the human respiratory system material in class X of SMA Swasta Kartika I-4 Pematangsiantar in the 2021/2022 academic year. The population was 171 students consisting of 4 classes and samples were taken using cluster random sampling to obtain 2 classes: the experimental class (X MIA 1) with 40 students and the experimental class (X MIA 4) with 40 students. The control class was given treatment using the role-playing learning model and the control class was given treatment using the conventional method. Data analysis was carried out by finding the average (X ̅), standard deviation (S) and hypothesis testing (t-test) at a significance level of α = 0.05. From the results of the study, the average post-test score for the experimental class was 82.37 and the control class was 80.62 with a difference in learning outcomes of 1.69. From the results of the hypothesis testing (t-test), the calculated t (2.111 > t table (1.990) was obtained at a significance level of α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = 78, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is a difference in student learning outcomes using the role playing learning model and the conventional method on the ecosystem material of class X SMA Swasta Kartika I-4 Pematangsiantar in the 2021/2022 Academic Year. It was concluded that there is a difference in student learning outcomes using the role-playing learning model and the conventional method on the ecosystem material in class X SMA Swasta Kartika I-4 Pematangsiantar in the 2021/2022 Academic Year.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of multimedia utilization on improving student learning outcomes on the human excretory system and the magnitude of the impact of multimedia utilization on improving student learning outcomes on the excretory system in grade XI Taman Madya (SMA) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. The population in this study was 64 students consisting of two classes. The sample was taken by random assignment, i.e., the population size was equal to the sample size. This resulted in two classes: a control class (XI-1) with 32 students and an experimental class (XI-5) with 32 students. Thus, the sample size was 64 students. The control class was treated using conventional methods, while the experimental class was treated using PowerPoint multimedia. Data analysis was performed by finding the mean (X̅ ), standard deviation (S), and hypothesis testing (t-test) at a significance level of α = 0.05. The results obtained an average post-test score of 88 for the control class and 90.12 for the experimental class, with a difference in learning outcomes of 2.12. From the results of the hypothesis testing (t-test), the calculated t (2.790) > t table (1.99) at a significance level of α = 0.05 and degrees of freedom (dk) = 62, so Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, meaning there is an influence of multimedia utilization to improve student learning outcomes on the human excretory system material in class XI Taman Madya (SMA) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar. It is concluded that there is an influence of multimedia utilization to improve student learning outcomes on the human excretory system material in class XI Taman Madya (SMA) Tamansiswa Pematangsiantar.

Abstract

This study is a classroom action research study aimed to describe the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in Biology through the implementation of the Think Talk Write learning model. The subjects were 40 students of class X MIPA-1 MAS Al Washliyah Serbelawan. The study was conducted through four stages: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This classroom action research study used a collaborative model that prioritizes cooperation between teachers and researchers. Data collection methods included observation and a critical thinking test. The instruments used were teacher and student observation sheets and a 20-item critical thinking test. Before being used as a data collection tool, the instruments were pre-tested to determine validity, reliability, and normality. Based on the results, the average improvement in students' critical thinking skills was 50% in cycle I, then increased to 92.5% in cycle II. From these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Think Talk Write learning model can improve students' critical thinking skills in class X MIPA-1 MAS Al Washliyah Serbelawan.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of Instagram on environmental conservation in Beringin. The author conducted observations in Beringin and observed that many individuals and communities still lack concern for environmental conservation. The approach used in this study was quantitative, using data collection methods such as distributing questionnaires to 100 Instagram users in Beringin. Based on the research results, through simultaneous testing, it was shown that the social media variable (X) influences environmental conservation (Y) in Beringin. The calculated f value (90.363) > f table (4.00) with a significance level of 0.001, and the adjusted R Square value of 0.474, or 47%. This means that the influence of social media on environmental conservation is 47%. The remaining 53% is attributed to other variables not examined in this study, such as environmental impact, environmental pollution, and social sanctions.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the differences in student learning outcomes and the magnitude of the differences in student learning outcomes using Kahoot and Quizizz learning media on Animalia material in grade X of SMA Kartika I-4 Pematangsiantar in the 2022/2023 academic year. The population was 181 students consisting of 4 classes, and the sample was taken using Cluster Random Sampling to obtain two classes. Experimental class 1 (X-MIA 3) consisted of 45 students and experimental class 2 (X-MIA 4) consisted of 44 students. Experimental class 1 was treated using the Problem-Based Learning learning model on Animalia material. After that, they were given a final test or post-test using Kahoot, and experimental class 2 was treated using the Problem-Based Learning learning model on Animalia material. After that, they were given a final test or post-test using Quizizz. Data analysis was carried out by finding the mean (X̅ ), standard deviation (S), and hypothesis testing (t-test) at a significance level of α = 0.05. The research results showed that the average pre-test score for experimental class 1 (X-MIA 3) was 29.78 and for experimental class 2 (X-MIA 4) was 32.39. The average post-test score for experimental class 1 (X-MIA 3) was 79.11 and for experimental class 2 (X-MIA 4) was 78.98, with a difference of 0.13. The hypothesis test using the t-test obtained t-count (0.178) < t-table (1.66256). It can be concluded that there is no difference in student learning outcomes using Kahoot and Quizizz based problem-based learning media on Animalia material for grade X students at SMA Kartika I-4 Pematangsiantar in the 2022/2023 academic year.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the teacher-centered learning model at SMP Negeri 4 Pematang Siantar, where students only listen to the teacher's explanations, resulting in inactivity during the lesson. This is partly due to the limited learning resources used. The learning resources used are only textbooks. Assignments, limited to textbooks alone, result in unstructured assignments for students. This study aims to produce a valid and practical Group Investigation-based Student Worksheet (LKS). The type of research used in this study is Research and Development (R&D). The development model used is the 4-D model: define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data collection techniques were carried out through validation, observation, questionnaires, and interviews. The research instruments used were validation sheets, observation sheets, questionnaires, and interview guidelines. The validation sheets and questionnaires were analyzed by finding percentages, while the results of observations and interviews were analyzed using descriptive techniques. Based on the research conducted, it was found that the Group Investigation-based Student Worksheet was declared very valid by the validator with a percentage of 82.14%. The practicality test results from the student response questionnaire were categorized as very practical with a score of 83%, and the teacher response questionnaire was categorized as practical with a score of 78.3%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of animated video electronic learning media on the effectiveness and learning outcomes of students at YPK Pematang Siantar Private Junior High School. The population in this study was all grade VIII consisting of 4 classes with a total of 98 students. Sampling was carried out using a purposive sampling technique, namely with 2 classes with a total of 48 students. The results of the data analysis showed that the average score of the experimental class questionnaire was 58.12 and the average for the control class was 74.99. The pretest of the experimental class was 39.16 while the pretest of the control class was 41.04. And after being given treatment using animated video electronic media, the average posttest score of the experimental class was 81.66 while the average posttest score of the control class was 77.5. Based on the results of the test questions, a sig. (2-tailed) value was obtained. Test results. Based on the table above, the Sig. value. (2-tailed) of 0.034 < 0.05 with tcount (2.256)>ttable (1.714) on df 23, then Ha is accepted. Therefore, the conclusion is that animated video electronic learning media has an effect on the effectiveness and learning outcomes of students at SMP YPK Pematang Siantar. And the results of the effectiveness questionnaire based on the table above, the Sig. value (2-tailed) of 0.000 < 0.05 with tcount (8.660)>ttable (1.714), then Ha is accepted. Therefore, the conclusion is that animated video electronic learning media has an effect on the effectiveness and learning outcomes of students at SMP YPK Pematang Siantar.

Abstract

The problems in this study are: The selection of learning models used by teachers is not varied, student activity is still lacking during teaching and learning activities, student absorption is low, teachers still often use the lecture model, so teacher explanations are still abstract. The purpose of this study is; To determine the effect of the think pair share and make a match learning models on the learning outcomes of grade VII students of Kartika 1-4 Private Junior High School Pematangsiantar. The research method is an experimental method with a Quasi Experiment Design. The research design is a Two Group Randomized Posttest-Only Control Design. After the initial test (pretest) was conducted in both classes, learning was carried out with different treatments. In the experimental class, learning was carried out using the Think Pair Share learning model, while in the control class, the Make A Match learning model was implemented. After the learning process was completed, a final test (posttest) was carried out. Based on the research analysis, it was obtained 1) the learning outcomes of students who used the Think Pair Share learning model were better than the learning outcomes of students who used the Make A Match learning model; 2) There was a difference in the improvement in the learning outcomes of students who used the Think Pair Share learning model and the improvement in the learning outcomes of students who used the Make A Match learning model; and 3) Student attitudes toward learning using the Think Pair Share and Make A Match learning models.
