Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of the correct ablution procedures through the demonstration method at SD Negeri 056020 Pematang Rambai, Tanjung Pura in the 2023/2024 school year. The demonstration method was chosen because it can provide a more concrete and interactive learning experience, so that students can more easily understand and remember each stage of ablution according to the correct guidance. This study uses a classroom action approach (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, with each cycle involving planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of the study were fourth grade students who had difficulty in understanding and practicing ablution correctly. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and evaluation tests before and after the action. The results showed that the demonstration method significantly improved students' understanding of ablution procedures, as indicated by an increase in the average test score from the first cycle to the second cycle. In addition, this method also increases student activity and involvement in the learning process. Thus, the demonstration method can be used as an effective learning strategy in improving students' understanding of ablution procedures in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study aims to apply the discovery learning method to improve learning outcomes in recognizing object shapes in grade 2 students of MI Ma'arif NU 01 Pandansari. The discovery learning method was chosen because it can increase students' active involvement in the learning process through their own discovery. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) approach with the research subjects being grade 2 students consisting of 25 students. The research procedures include planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Learning using the discovery learning method is carried out through a series of activities that involve students in exploring object shapes directly, such as through games or observation activities. The results of the study showed an increase in student learning outcomes after the application of the discovery learning method. Before this method was applied, students had a limited understanding of object shapes, but after learning, students' understanding increased significantly, as evidenced by better test results and students' ability to recognize various object shapes. Thus, it can be concluded that the discovery learning method is effective in improving learning outcomes in recognizing object shapes in grade 2 students of MI Ma'arif NU 01 Pandansari.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the science process skills of fourth grade students in Natural Sciences (IPA) through the application of a project-based learning approach. Science process skills include observation, classification, data interpretation, designing experiments, and communicating research results. However, in practice, many students have difficulty in developing these skills due to learning methods that are still centered on the teacher and do not actively involve students in exploration and problem solving. This study uses a classroom action research (CAR) method consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. The subjects of the study were 24 fourth grade students of MIM Tinggarjaya. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation, interviews, tests, and documentation. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively qualitatively and quantitatively to see the development of students' science process skills from each learning cycle. The results showed that the application of project-based learning was able to significantly improve students' science process skills. In the first cycle, students' process skills were still in the sufficient category with an average score of 65. However, after improvements and strengthening of learning strategies in the second cycle, the average score increased to 82, with more than 80% of students reaching the good to very good category. This improvement can be seen from the increasing ability of students to make observations, make hypotheses, conduct simple experiments, and present research results in the form of reports or presentations. The conclusion of this study is that the project-based learning approach can be an effective solution in improving students' science process skills. With project-based learning, students are more active, creative, and able to develop critical thinking skills and problem solving in a scientific context. Therefore, it is recommended for educators to integrate this approach into science learning in order to improve the quality of learning and student learning outcomes.
