Abstract

The Qur'an is quite different from most general texts. Among the most prominent differences is that it is said that the Qur’an includes elements of the discourse structure that lead to the harmony and unity of the texts. Therefore, this simple article is written with the aim of describing the textual harmony of the verses of religious tolerance in the Holy Qur’an - which are spread in 7 chapters - by applying the theory of discourse analysis promoted by Halliday & Hasan. In particular, this research aims to explore cohesion tools, whether grammatical or lexical. To achieve these desired goals, the researchers used observations followed by note-taking techniques to collect data. In conducting data analysis, the "padan intralingual" method is used, which he makes use of to connect the linguistic elements. The results of the research show that the signs of cohesion in the verses of tolerance at the grammatical cohesion level are achieved by references, substitutions, ellipsis, as well as a conjunction. As for lexical cohesion, signs of cohesion are achieved through synonymy, antonymy, repetition, hyponymy, and collocation. These tools not only make the texts of the verses coherent but also make them coherent and interdependent. However, there are very few sentences that seem incoherent. In this case, it is not enough to understand the theory of coherence alone, until what is known as the "knowledge of the world" (knowledge of the world) that can be realized through theoretical or applied language sciences is required.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the characteristics of the Arabic language used in Pondok Pesantren Modern Alhasyimiah Darul Ulum Sipaho. The study encompasses five main aspects: fluency in Arabic, the structure of the language employed, the influence of the mother tongue on language usage, literal translation, and proposed solutions. The research methodology employed is a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection through interview and observation. Data is subsequently analyzed using deduction and description methods. The findings of this study reveal that Pondok Pesantren Modern Alhasyimiah Darul Ulum Sipaho places a strong emphasis on fluency in the Arabic language as a crucial aspect of Arabic language proficiency. However, the teaching of language structure is somewhat limited, resulting in various structural errors in everyday Arabic communication. Additionally, the influence of local languages or dialects on Arabic language usage is present, yet a practical approach to Arabic language instruction boosts students' confidence in communication. The phenomenon of literal translation in Arabic also underscores the importance of contextual understanding in foreign language use. As a solution, the pesantren offers supplementary training programs, interaction with native Arabic speakers, and the promotion of active Arabic language use in daily life. The results above imply the importance of emphasizing contextual understanding and active use of the Arabic language in daily life, as well as the need for a practical approach to teaching language structure to enhance everyday communication in Arabic.

Abstract

this study aims to assess the effectiveness of one visual teaching method, namely the use of picture presentation, among students in the Language Preparation Department at Al-Raya University. This research adopts a field study approach, utilizing a quantitative method with an experimental design involving a single group, including pretest and posttest evaluations. The study's findings indicate that the statistical results of the Wilcoxon test reveal an Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) value of 0.001, which is smaller than <0.05. Consequently, it can be concluded that the hypothesis is accepted, suggesting a difference between the results of vocabulary learning in the pretest and posttest. Additionally, the study reveals that the average standardized progress score is 0.75, implying a high level of standardized progress for the proposed hypothesis. Therefore, it can be inferred that the use of picture presentation as a teaching method has an impact on the results of vocabulary learning among students in the Language Preparation Department at Stiba Al-Râyah, indicating the effectiveness of teaching vocabulary through picture presentation.
