Abstract

One thing that can bridge the gap between culture and education is ethnomathematics. Ethnomathematics is a form of mathematics influenced by or based on culture. Through the application of ethnomathematics in education, especially mathematics education, will bring better understanding of students about both knowledge and culture of theirs. This way will help teacher for teaching cultural values in students so that cultural values which are part of the national character are embedded from an early age of student. The formation of this new scheme should be from the scheme that already exists in the student. Therefore, in teaching formal mathematics (school mathematics), teachers should start with informal mathematics which is applied by children in society. If a child has a good schema about mathematics used in daily basis increase the existing knowledge the teacher strengthens the existing schema or forms a new schema based on the existing schema.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the petrogenesis of igneous rocks exposed in the Garapia area, Anggrek District, North Gorontalo Regency, in order to identify their distribution, geochemical characteristics, and tectonic setting. The research methods included field survey, sample collection, petrographic analysis, and laboratory analysis using X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF), followed by CIPW normative calculation and construction of discrimination diagrams (QAPF, AFM, Harker). Petrographic analysis shows that the rocks are dominated by plagioclase (60–65%), quartz (10–15%), and pyroxene (20–25%), with minor accessory minerals. Mineral normalization places sample RK-01 in the basaltic andesite group, while sample RK-12 is classified as andesite. Normative CIPW analysis indicates the presence of normative quartz and labradorite as the dominant plagioclase, reflecting silica-oversaturated characteristics. Plotting on the AFM diagram (Irvine Baragar, 1971) places the samples within the tholeiitic to calc-alkaline series. Overall, the results confirm that the igneous rocks in the Garapia area were formed in a volcanic arc magmatic environment, with magma evolution controlled by fractional crystallization of plagioclase and pyroxene, as well as magma differentiation processes that produced compositional variations from basalt to andesite.

Abstract

The development of the creative economy in Indonesia shows great potential as a driver of national economic growth rooted in local culture and creativity. However, many micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) are still unable to develop strong and sustainable branding strategies. This article discusses efforts to strengthen the creative economy through local product branding that highlights folklore and regional culture as the foundation of identity. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and literature studies. The findings indicate that integrating local cultural elements with modern marketing strategies can generate economic added value while also strengthening cultural preservation. In conclusion, folklore-based branding is not only a business strategy but also a form of cultural diplomacy that enhances the position of local products in the global market.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze slope stability in Walenrang District, Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi, using the Rock Mass Rating (RMR) method. The research area lies along the Walenrang–Toraja main route, which is composed of volcanic and sedimentary rocks affected by an intensive joint system. Field investigations were conducted using the scanline method to obtain geotechnical parameters such as unconfined compressive strength (UCS), Rock Quality Designation (RQD), discontinuity spacing and condition, and groundwater condition. Based on Schmidt Hammer test results, the rock’s compressive strength was 64 MPa with an RQD value of 97%, indicating excellent rock quality. The weighting of six key parameters produced an RMR value of 69, classifying the rock mass as Class II (good rock). This finding indicates that the slopes at the research location are still in good condition.

Abstract

Considering the geological complexity of Sulawesi and the limited exposure of students to basic geoscience knowledge in formal education, SMA Negeri 1 Sarjo, located in West Sulawesi and bordering Central Sulawesi, recognized the need to conduct a knowledge-sharing activity on earth science, geological resources, and geological hazards. This program invited academic experts from the Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Tadulako, to deliver educational materials tailored for high school students. The main objective was to enhance students’ understanding of geoscience concepts, introduce the diversity of geological resources, and increase awareness of geological hazards, particularly those prevalent in Sulawesi. The activity involved grade XII students through presentations, discussions, and interactive question-and-answer sessions. Students and teachers responded positively, indicating increased interest and comprehension of the topics presented. The positive feedback and appreciation expressed by the school, especially through the Vice Principal for Curriculum and Student Affairs, served as an indicator of the program’s success.

Abstract

This community service activity by the Accounting Department of Padang State Polytechnic aims to integrate Islamic financial principles into financial literacy programs, with the hope of shaping a young generation that is not only financially savvy, but also grounded in Islamic moral values and ethics, because many students do not yet have a deep understanding of Islamic financial principles, including aspects of halal-haram and usury. In daily practice, students are often involved in transactions that do not align with Sharia principles, either due to a lack of knowledge or economic temptation. To overcome this problem, the community service team provided training to students at the Al-Ma'arif Bukittinggi Modern Islamic Boarding School, which focused on theoretical learning about Islamic finance, using methods such as lectures, group discussions, transaction simulations, quizzes, and periodic evaluations of Islamic financial literacy. As a result of this training, students' understanding increased by 8% from 46% to 54%, which means that this community service activity was able to foster and create a good understanding among students regarding financial practices in Islam.

Abstract

The study aims to examine public perception regarding the methods of processing and presenting food made from sago, as well as the extent to which sago can be accepted as an alternative staple food to rice in Oba Subdistrict, Tidore Island City, North Maluku Provinces. This area is known as one of the largest production centers of sago “tumang” in Tidore Island City. Although sago has the potential to become a superior local food, the community's acceptance level has declined, mainly due to changing habits, with many now preferring rice as their staple food. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and document review. The findings reveal that public perception of sago is influenced by several factors such as habits, health, taste, price, and availability of food ingredients. Residents who still preserve the consumption of sago tend to have positive perceptions, while those who have switched to rice show less supportive attitudes toward sago consumption. The study concludes that community perception plays a crucial role in determining the acceptance level of sago as an alternative food source. Therefore, efforts in education and training on the processing and presentation of sago are needed to broaden its acceptance as a rice substitute.. The study recommends that the government and relevant parties strengthen campaigns and diversification programs based on sago to support food security in Tidore Island City.
