Abstract

This research is motivated bythe students need to enhance their interest and learning outcomes in skills aspects. The aim of this research is to develop effective learning media for the learning process in the competency of geriatric facial makeup.Therealityat SMKN 1 Buduran shows a lack of learningmedia facilities toimprove the skills required by the students and that these are not suitable for the characteristics of the students at SMKN 1 Buduran. The main objectives of this research specifically consist of four points: 1) To develop video-based learning media, 2) To assess the feasibility of the developed video learning media, 3) To know the students' responses to the developed learning media, 4) To measure students' learning outcomes in the skills aspect. This research employs the R&D method byBorg and Gall.Theresearch sample consists of 36 students from class XI HD MUA at SMKN 1 Buduran. Data collection was carried out through interviews, feasibility validation tests, student response questionnaires, and performance tests based on performance assessmentrubrics. The feasibility validation score from 3 expertsreceived an average total score of 4.60, which falls into the 'verygood' category. The results from 36 students received positive feedback, resulting in an average total score of 4.65, also falling into the 'very good' category. Student learning outcomes in the skill aspect showed the effectiveness of this media, achieving an average total score of 87.3. Therefore, the development of learning media in this research can be said to be successful in enhancing students' interest and learning outcomes both in a classical and individual manner in the material of geriatric facial makeup competency. Abstract

Current technological developments have a great influence on the creation of learning media that support learning outcomes. One of the influences of technological developments is the existence of learning media in the form of powtoon videos. This powtoon video is an IT-based web application that has image and audio features. This powtoon video learning media is very easy to access by teachers so that it can help create interesting learning for students. This study aims to determine 1) the feasibility of powtoon video media, 2) student learning outcomes and 3) student responses to the application of powtoon videos to medium hush cut hair cutting material at SMK Negeri Surabaya. This study uses a quantitative method with a pre-experimental one shoot case study design, involving 31 grade XI Beauty students. Data were obtained through media validation, learning outcome tests, and student response questionnaires. The validation results showed that powtoon media was very feasible to use with an average of 90.33%. The average student learning outcomes reached 86.38 with 58% in the very good category and 42% in the good category. The students' response to this media was also very positive with a percentage of 97.86%. Thus, the powtoon video media is effective in improving students' understanding and skills in learning hair cutting.

Abstract

In the last five years, marble nail art has become a trend that is increasingly in demand by nail art lovers. The purpose of this study was to determine the results of press-on nails with the water marble technique, the results of press-on nails with the marble drawing technique, and a comparison of the results of press-on nails with the water marble and drawing techniques. This study employed a quantitative approach and used an experimental research design. The results of press-on nails with water marble and drawing were assessed using a questionnaire with four aspects: design suitability, surface evenness, neatness of the finished result, and preference. Faux Nail Studio customers who like nail art and are and are and are aged 18 to 30 years were the subjects of this study who came to Faux Nail Studio on February 28, 2025. The data obtained from the questionnaire were processed using IBM SPSS 27. The t-test was used to determine the comparison of the finished results of press-on nails with the water marble and marble drawing techniques, and the average test was used to determine the finished results of each technique. The results of the study showed that (1)he finished results of press-on nails with the water marble technique had an average value of 2.96 out of 4, (2) the finished results of press-on nails with marble drawing had an average value of 3.68 out of 4, and (3) there was a significant difference between the two techniques, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. (3) According to the panelists, the suitability of the design, surface flatness, and neatness of the results were 2.96 for the water marble technique and 3.68 for the marble drawing technique. (4) The panelists preferred the finished results of press-on nails with the marble drawing technique to the water marble technique.

Abstract

Currently, many people use make-up as the main support for their profession, one of which is the product catalog model that makes make-up the main thing, so a perfect appearance is needed and gives a good impression to support the value of the product worn. This study aims to determine the difference in the results of the comparison of the proportion of liquid and cream foundations on the results of make-up on the product catalog model with oily skin types, using 2 samples of foundation proportions with different ratios of liquid and cream foundations. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive study with a quasi-experimental design of the one-shot case study type. The subjects of the study were 30 people, consisting of 3 make-up lecturers, 27 make-up experts or active students of make-up education at the State University of Surabaya. The data collection technique used an instrument sheet/questionnaire to assess the results of make-up with indicators of coverage, smoothness, evenness, durability, photo results and observer preferences. The results of the study obtained an average score of aspects that were averaged of 3.2 in sample X1 (proportion of foundation 2gr liquid: 2gr cream) and 3.57 in sample X2 (proportion of foundation 1gr liquid: 3gr cream). The calculation of statistical test results shows a Mann Whitney U value of 213.500 and a significance value (Asymp, Sig. 2-tailed) of less than 0.001 (p < 0.05). So there is a significant difference between sample data X1 and sample data X2 with sample data X2 having a higher score than sample data X1.

Abstract

The use of skincare among Indonesian people continues to increase and develop with the times. Estee Lauder is one of the foreign brands that is quite popular in Indonesia. This research aims to examine the influence of demographic factors and product knowledge on the emotion and social status of Estee Lauder premium skincare consumers in Surabaya. The research used is an analytical observational type with a cross sectional approach. The population in this research is Estee Lauder consumers in Surabaya with a sample of people who use Estee Lauder skincare. The research instrument is a questionnaire instrument with data analysis using percentages then analyzing the relationship with multiple linear regression and hypothesis testing with the F test and t test. The research results showed that demographic factors consisting of age, gender, education, employment and income had a positive effect on emotional and social status and product knowledge factors had a positive effect on emotion and social status.Keyword : Skincare, Demographics and Product Knowledge, Estee Lauder.

Abstract

Abstract This study aims to investigate the impact of beauty influencer content on TikTok on increasing knowledge about makeup among students of SMK PGRI 4 Pasuruan and how students' attitudes towards the content. The background of this study is the rapid development of social media as an alternative in the learning process, especially in the field of makeup that is visual and practical. The method used is quantitative by implementing a pre-test and post-test through measuring learning outcomes. The number of subjects in this study was 36 students from the Skin and Hair Beauty study program. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire using a Likert scale and t-test. The research findings show a significant increase in knowledge about makeup after students accessed TikTok content from beauty influencers, as evidenced by the results of the paired sample t-test with a significance value of 0.000. Student responses to beauty influencer content on TikTok vary widely. On the one hand, this social media platform can be a very useful learning tool, encouraging interest in learning and facilitating access, as students can easily access various educational materials and resources through TikTok. It also helps students collaborate on assignments, exchange ideas, provide feedback, and encourage creativity in learning and conveying ideas. Several factors that support knowledge enhancement include the quality of content presentation, trust in the influencer, appropriate video length and format, and the relevance of the material to students' needs. Therefore, content on TikTok can be used as an effective supplementary medium for increasing knowledge about makeup. Various studies have shown that students respond positively to interactive learning media applications, particularly regarding their appearance and ease of use. Abstract

Instructional media that meet students' needs have a positive impact on the learning process. Tutorial videos in learning facial makeup photography have become a popular media choice among students. This study aims to determine: (1) the results of developing tutorial video media; (2) student learning outcomes; and (3) student responses to the media. The research was conducted using the 4D R&D model and involved 34 students of grade XI at SMK Negeri 3 Probolinggo as respondents. The results include: (1) the development of learning media through the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate, which has gone through feasibility testing. The results showed an average score of 3.83 from material experts, 4.43 from media experts, and 4.83 from language experts, all categorized as very good; (2) the cognitive learning outcomes achieved an average score of 84.94, while the psychomotor domain scored an average of 86.05, measured through tests after using the tutorial video; and (3) student responses to the tutorial video reached 88%, indicating that the video is highly suitable as a learning aid for black-and-white facial makeup photography. Based on the validation results from material, media, and language experts, the tutorial video developed through the 4D stages has a very high level of feasibility as a learning medium. Students’ learning achievements, both in cognitive and psychomotor domains, showed improvement with scores exceeding the standard mastery level. Additionally, the student response of 88% indicates that the video tutorial is highly effective and appropriate for use in facial makeup photography learning.Keywords: Media development, Video Tutorial Learning Media, Photography Makeup.

Abstract

Video tutorials are one form of learning media that can provide a more interesting learning experience and help improve student understanding. This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of learning media, measure student learning outcomes, and identify student responses to the use of the media. The type of research used is R&D (Research and Development) the development model used is 4D (Define, Design, Develop, Dissemination). The data collection methods used are observation, psychomotor learning outcome tests, and questionnaires. The data collection instruments used are media feasibility observation sheets, learning outcome test questions, and student response questionnaire sheets. The objects and subjects of this study were film make-up and 36 class XI TKKR 2 SMKN 1 Pogalan students. Data were analyzed using the calculation of average values. The results of the study showed that: (1) Assessment of media feasibility from the aspects of media, materials, and language produced an average score of 4.77 which is included in the "very feasible" category; (2) Students' psychomotor scores reached an average of 86, which exceeded the KKTP of 80, so that it was declared complete overall; (3) Student responses to learning media showed an average score of 4.84 with the category "very appropriate". From these findings, it can be concluded that video tutorial media is very effective for use in the learning process. Abstract

Exposure to UV rays in Indonesia causes skin damage such as premature aging. This research aims to develop a body lotion formulation combining areca nut extract and green tea leaf extract to protect and repair the skin, as well as for the the analysis the effect of the impact of the two extracts on organoleptic properties and determine the best formula based on the preference levels of the panelists. In this study, the method applied is a true experimental design involving 30 panelists from the Makeup Arts Department at State University of Surabaya. Three body lotion formulas were tested based on five organoleptic parameters: aroma, color, adhesion, homogeneity, and preference level. Data processing used one-way ANOVA and Duncan’s subsequent test. The study’s research findings show that the characteristics of color are significantly impacted, homogeneity, and level of preference (p < 0.05), whereas the aroma and adhesion values obtained exceeded the significance threshold, hence the differences are considered not significant (p > 0.05). Formula X3 (0.5 g of areca nut extract and 2 g of green tea extract) is the best formula because it received the highest score in almost all tested parameters.

Abstract

In the academic environment of the Cosmetology Study Program at UNESA, female students are expected to not only understand the concept of hair coloring but also be able to understand the theoretical concepts in applying hair coloring techniques accurately. This study aims to identify the level of knowledge of female students regarding undercoat levels, assess their ability to perform double application hair coloring, and analyze the relationship between the two variables. This study employs a quantitative correlational approach involving female students from the Hair Styling Program at UNESA, class of 2022. The research instruments consist of a knowledge test, and data analysis was conducted using Pearson's correlation test. The results show that the average score for undercoat knowledge is 88.6, and the score for double application coloring ability is 84.8—both categorized as very good. The data were normally distributed, and the correlation analysis showed a coefficient of 0.997 with a p-value of 0.001, indicating a very strong and statistically significant relationship between undercoat knowledge and theoretical ability in double application hair coloring. Based on these findings, it is recommended that theoretical concepts at the undercoat level be further strengthened through a more contextual learning approach. Students are encouraged to further develop their foundational knowledge to support practical skills.
