Abstract

This research aims to analyze how the increase in Value Added Tax (VAT) rates operates after the Harmonization of Tax Regulations Law (HPP Law) is enacted, specifically regarding the microeconomic ecosystem, particularly in the MMTC Medan Market. Although VAT plays an important role in strengthening state finances, there are concerns about its regressive nature and its impact on the purchasing power of low-income citizens and the sustainability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises . This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods and semi-structured in-depth interviews with consumers (students and local residents) and MSME actors (grocery store owners) at MMTC Medan Market. This research focuses on how economic actors at the grassroots level respond to policy changes. The research results indicate that the increase in VAT rates serves as a trigger and intensifier of the decline in public purchasing power. Consumers are responding with defensive strategies such as limiting the frequency and amount of shopping, switching to cheaper goods, and as evidenced by the decline in merchant turnover. On the other hand, MSME actors are taking survival steps by absorbing the impact, which means holding back some of the price increases by reducing profit margins, dividing products into smaller sizes, and strengthening relationships with customers. However, this strategy poses a risk to long-term business sustainability. Additionally, there are deep differences in understanding, where the policy is considered unfair because the "one-size-fits-all" formulation is seen as ignoring the financial capabilities of MSMEs and the real conditions of vulnerable communities

Abstract

The development of social media platforms has changed the way companies engage with their audiences. TikTok, a short video platform, has become an important venue for various sectors, such as PT Asia Jaya Timbangan Palembang. This study aims to analyze the role of TikTok content as a marketing communication tool in increasing brand awareness. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, this article illustrates that the use of educational, demonstrative, and interactive content successfully attracts the audience's attention, interest, and memory of the brand. The results of the study show that TikTok not only functions as a place of entertainment but also as an effective marketing tool for building brand awareness in the digital age

Abstract

In this article, a comprehensive review of literature from 25 sources spanning the years 2020–2025 is used to study the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) technology on the spread of fake news on social media. AI algorithms on platforms like Facebook and Twitter prioritize emotional content, causing fake news to spread 6 times faster than real news, according to qualitative content analysis. Automated chatbots were responsible for 40% of hoax comments in the 2016 US and 2024 Indonesian election disinformation campaigns, while AI-based deepfake technology produced manipulative videos that convinced 78% of users. 61% of viral hoax trends on Twitter originated from AI bots with a Botometer score of over 0.7. If used as a "disinformation production machine," digital democracy is in great danger. According to research, algorithm transparency, hybrid AI-human truth testing, and national digital literacy must be regulated in accordance with the revised 2025 ITE Law

Abstract

Pemahaman hadis dalam konteks kontemporer menghadapi berbagai tantangan seiring perkembangan zaman dan kompleksitas permasalahan umat Islam modern. Penelitian ini mengkaji tantangan-tantangan yang dihadapi dalam memahami hadis di era kontemporer serta prospek pengembangannya ke depan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian kepustakaan dengan pendekatan deskriptif-analitis terhadap literatur klasik dan kontemporer mengenai ilmu hadis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tantangan utama meliputi kesenjangan konteks historis, minimnya kompetensi dalam ilmu hadis, penyebaran hadis palsu di media sosial, serta perdebatan metodologis antara pendekatan tekstual dan kontekstual. Adapun prospek yang menjanjikan antara lain digitalisasi hadis, pengembangan metode pemahaman integratif, revitalisasi kajian hadis di lembaga pendidikan, dan kolaborasi ulama lintas mazhab. Pemahaman hadis yang komprehensif memerlukan penguasaan ilmu hadis klasik sekaligus kepekaan terhadap realitas kontemporer dengan tetap berpegang pada prinsip-prinsip keilmuan yang sahih.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze service communication carriedoutbyfrontlinersat Bank Sumsel Babel Syariah in delivering information about banking products to customers. Service communication is a crucial aspect because frontliners serve as the direct representation of the institution in building customer understanding, trust, and interest in banking products. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach, using data collection techniques such as structured interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects consist of tellers, customer service officers, andservice supervisors who are directlyinvolved in customer service activities. Data analysis is conductedusing the Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) theory as an analytical framework to examine message consistency, communication integration, andcustomer-oriented service practices.The findings indicate that the service communication implemented by frontliners at Bank Sumsel Babel Syariah reflects the application of IMC principles, particularly in maintaining message consistency and clarity of information delivered to customers. Frontliners provide product information based on standardized guidelines, thereby reducing discrepancies in explanations among staff members. The two-way interaction established during the service process allows customers to receive information according to their needs while creating a positive service experience. Service communication is not merely informative but also plays a role in fostering trust and long-term relationships between the bank and its customers. This study concludes that consistent and integrated service communication is a key factor in supporting the effectiveness of information delivery in Islamic banking services

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology allows the public to easily access information through broadcasting and digital media platforms. However, the ability of society to comprehend and critically evaluate media content remains uneven, which contributes to the spread of misinformation and hoaxes. This study aims to explore the role of Public Relations at the Regional Indonesian Broadcasting Commission of South Sumatra (KPID South Sumatra) in enhancing media literacy among the community, as well as to identify the main challenges encountered in the implementation of media literacy programs. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach, applying in-depth interviews, online observation, and public content analysis from internet-based sources. The findings indicate that KPID’s Public Relations performs an educational role through digital information dissemination, healthy broadcasting campaigns, and interactive communication services with the public. Nonetheless, limited human resources and the lack of community participation remain significant obstacles. The study highlights the need for stronger collaborative efforts across institutions to improve media literacy development evenly throughout South Sumatra

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Corporate Governance and capital structure on the company's financial performance by focusing on two main governance variables, namely managerial ownership and institutional ownership. The research approach used is qualitative with the type of library research. Data was obtained from various secondary sources such as books, national and international journals, and scientific repositories accessed through Google Scholar, Mendeley, and Garuda. The analysis was carried out in a descriptive-analytical and comparative manner, by examining the results of previous research on the relationship between variables. The results of the study show that managerial ownership has a positive effect on financial performance through the alignment effect mechanism between managers and shareholders. However, at a level of ownership that is too high, there is a negative effect (entrenchment effect) that can reduce the company's performance. Institutional ownership serves as an effective external oversight mechanism, where the proportion of ownership by financial institutions is able to improve managerial discipline and transparency. However, its influence depends on the level of active involvement of institutional investors in corporate supervision. Meanwhile, the capital structure has a varied influence on financial performance. The proportionate use of debt can increase profitability through tax efficiency and financial discipline, but excessive use of debt actually reduces performance due to increased financial risks. In general, the relationship between Corporate Governance, capital structure, and financial performance is complex and contextual, influenced by industry characteristics, company size, and ownership structure. The study concludes that the improvement of financial performance is not only determined by financial policies, but also by the effectiveness of governance and the balance of ownership structures. The results of this study provide theoretical implications for the development of agency theory and trade-off theory, as well as practical recommendations for companies to design more efficient and sustainable governance and financing policies.

Abstract

This study aims to thoroughly analyze the various difficulties and coping strategies faced by parents when raising children with special needs (ABK). The primary rationale for this study is the increasing number of children with special needs in Indonesia and the complexity of parents' roles in supporting their development. This study employed a qualitative, descriptive phenomenological method involving three participants: parents of children with special needs in Banda Aceh City. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and document review, which were then processed using thematic analysis techniques. The results revealed that parents experience similar challenges, although their intensity varies depending on the age and severity of the child's condition. Furthermore, the parents' adaptations in this study were proactive and based on cultural values, enabling them to persevere despite significant challenges. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for the government, experts, and educational institutions in developing more effective support programs for families with children with special needs.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the dynamics of interpersonal communication between the customer service officers of Bank Sumsel Babel Syariah and school principals in the SIPLah service process. The research focuses on how both parties build interaction, convey information, and manage obstacles that arise during the service process. A qualitative approach was used through interviews and observations to gain insight into the participants’ experiences. The findings reveal that the effectiveness of interpersonal communication is influenced by the clarity of information, the level of empathy, and the responsiveness demonstrated by customer service officers. Meanwhile, school principals contribute by providing accurate data and showing readiness to follow the required procedures. Additionally, challenges such as differences in understanding SIPLah’s technical aspects and limited time often affect the fluency of the service process. This study concludes that effective interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in streamlining the service and fostering a more harmonious working relationship between schools and the bank

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of customer service in delivering excellent service through interpersonal communication to customers who experience difficulties using the digital services of Bank Sumsel Babel. The digital transformation of banking offers convenience but also presents challenges for customers who are unfamiliar with technology. Customer service functions as the frontline that bridges this gap through effective, empathetic, and persuasive interpersonal communication. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method with interviews, observations, and documentation to explore customer experiences and customer service strategies. The results show that interpersonal communication plays a crucial role in building trust, explaining the steps of digital service usage, and maintaining personalized relationships despite the growing reliance on technology. These findings confirm that excellent service still requires interpersonal touch even within increasingly digitalized banking systems
