Abstract

The sustainable patchouli cultivation development program aims to promote community-driven agricultural practices through academic support from higher education institutions. Implemented in Teuladan Village, Aceh Besar Regency, the program utilizes the Triple Helix collaboration model, engaging academia, the community, and industry to ensure sustainability. Employing a participatory approach, the initiative includes mentoring activities such as training on cultivation techniques, land management, and market dynamics for patchouli oil. Prospective farmers are selected through the CFCL (Candidate Farmers and Candidate Locations) questionnaire, which evaluates readiness based on skills, institutional organization, availability of extension workers, use of fuel for oil distillation, and commitment levels. The program aspires to enhance farmers’ knowledge and skills in producing high- quality patchouli, particularly in Aceh Besar and broadly across the Aceh region. By fostering sustainable agricultural practices and improving production quality, the initiative aims to elevate community welfare and support the economic sustainability of rural areas.

Abstract

Dysmenorrhea pain can be overcome with various alternatives, both pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically, namely effleurage massage which is one of the effective methods in reducing pain. The effleurage technique is carried out by giving gentle strokes and light pressure on the surface of the skin. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of abdominal effleurage massage on reducing the scale of dysmenorrhea pain in D-III Study Program students at Abulyatama University. This research method uses a quasi-experimental design using a one group pretest-posttest design with a population of 26 people and a sample of 15 people, the sampling technique is purposive sampling. The study was conducted on May 27 to June 25, 2024, univariate and bivariate data analysis using the dependent t test. The results of the study before using the abdominal effleurage massage method were mostly in the moderate category, namely 10 respondents (66.7%), while after using the abdominal effleurage massage method, the majority were in the mild category, namely 8 respondents (53.3%). This shows that there is a difference of 0.600 and the difference shows a significant difference as seen from the t-count = 3.674 and t-table = 2.145 with a P-value of 0.003. It is expected that female students can utilize Massage Effleurage as a form of massage that has been proven effective in reducing menstrual pain levels, as well as the use of ergonomic therapy and does not provide side effects if used in the long term.

The goal is to enhance their understanding of sharia-based financial systems and empower them to embrace these principles in their future financial decisions. The project involves a one-day outreach program at SMKS Farmasi Cut Meutia Banda Aceh, where 87 students participated in a series of lectures and interactive discussions on Islamic finance, its role in the economy, and the challenges and opportunities in the digital financial landscape. The activity also included an online quiz with prizes to engage participants. The program successfully increased the participants' knowledge of Islamic finance and its practical applications in the digital economy. Most students, previously unfamiliar with Islamic finance, gained both theoretical and practical insights into its principles. The event boosted participants' confidence in understanding and applying these concepts, with many expressing interested in similar. The outreach was limited to a single institution and a small sample size, and thus may not fully represent the broader youth population in Aceh. Future initiatives could expand to include more schools and regions.

Abstract

This activity aims to assist the people of Kemerleng Village, Linge District, in utilizing Moringa leaf tea and the potential of local resources as an effort to prevent stunting. The approach used involves outreach and education to increase public awareness of the importance of balanced nutrition and the use of local plants that are rich in nutrients. One of the main focuses is to introduce Moringa leaf tea as an innovative product that can support stunting prevention. This activity also aims to provide insight to the public about the benefits of Moringa leaves which have high nutritional content, even though up to now they have only been considered an ordinary or wild plant. During the implementation of the program, it was found that factors causing stunting included a lack of attention to nutritional needs for pregnant women, low awareness of the importance of child nutrition, and a lack of public attention to children's growth and development as a whole. Through the socialization carried out, the community gave a positive response and showed increased understanding. regarding the benefits of Moringa leaves as a food ingredient with high nutritional value. Abstract

Gempol Village, Karanganom Subdistrict, Klaten Regency, has experienced significant growth in home-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This development has positively impacted the local community of Gempol Village but has also posed environmental challenges. One negative impact of these home-based MSMEs is the increasing production of used cooking oil (Indonesian: jelantah) or waste cooking oils (WCOs). WCOs that are not properly disposed of can pollute the environment. Significant pollution will happen to the water and soil ecosystem. Hence, to address this issue, innovations in this specific waste management are needed. That can be achieved by involving and empowering local communities to transform the waste into economically valuable products. One potential use of cooking oil waste lies in its fatty acid content, which is an important matter for producing valuable soap bars. Therefore, this work program, which empowers the local communities, was conducted by aiming to increase the value of used cooking oil by processing it into soap. A soap-making training using cooking oil waste has been successfully conducted in Gempol Village, bringing tangible benefits to the community.

Abstract

The habit of throwing garbage into the river that has been carried out for generations by the Balinese people, including in Sulangai Village, is currently no longer relevant. This is due to changes in the types of waste produced. If in the past most of the waste was organic and easily decomposed, now most of the waste that is thrown away consists of non-organic waste that is difficult to decompose, such as plastic and other synthetic materials. This practice is not in line with the government program that has designated Petang District as a pilot project for a waste-free area and the use of plastic bags. Based on the results of previous research in Sulangai Village, it was found that the behavior of throwing garbage into the river was influenced by two main factors: first, habits that have been carried out for generations; and second, the location of the temporary waste disposal site (TPS) which is too far from community organizations. To overcome this problem, this community service activity was carried out as an effort to reduce waste in the river area and encourage changes in community behavior. The activity began with an audience with the Sulangai Village government to build synergy. Furthermore, the provision and handover of carts to waste residents was carried out. Usually, with the availability of more accessible transportation facilities, residents can start throwing garbage into carts, which will then be collected and disposed of at TPS. Through this social service activity, it is hoped that a cleaner and healthier environment can be created, as well as being a stimulant for changes in residents' behavior in managing household waste more responsibly.

Abstract

The sustainable economic socialization program through hydroponic agribusiness in Menasah Tutong Village aims to enhance the community's understanding and skills in implementing hydroponic farming systems as a modern agricultural solution. This initiative includes education, practical training, and ongoing mentoring for participants, particularly members of the PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) group. The results indicate an increase in knowledge and skills in hydroponic cultivation, as well as business opportunities in the agricultural sector. Additionally, this program promotes food security and economic independence within the community. Although challenges such as limited resources and product marketing remain, this initiative has the potential to serve as a sustainable community empowerment model. In the future, long-term mentoring and collaboration with various stakeholders are essential to ensure the program's sustainability and its positive impact on the community.
