Abstract

Many researchers in the second language field face the challenge of choosing the right method for their research, often relying on one method for their various studies. This study aims to explore various research methods in the context of the second language classroom by conducting a content analysis based on a book by Rod Ellis. This research is qualitative and is conducted through a literature study, the analysis uses Krippendorff's content analysis method, which includes six stages: unitizing, sampling, recording, reducing, inferring, and narrating. The research findings show that Ellis categorizes research methods into two main categories: formal and practical. Formal research includes experimental, descriptive, and hybrid, theory-driven research. While practical research involves action and exploratory, practitioner research does not stem from theory but from teachers' desire to experiment with innovations in their classrooms.

Abstract

The utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Arabic language learning is crucial in the Society 5.0 era, where technology significantly enhances educational quality. Arabic language learning faces challenges, particularly in grammatical aspects, translation, and speaking and writing skills, which require a more adaptive and practical approach. This study examines AI's application in Arabic language learning within the Merdeka Curriculum, focusing on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence Markup Language (AIML), E-Muhadathah, GAFE, Powtoon, and Alexa. A qualitative library research approach is employed, with data analyzed descriptively through relevant themes. The findings indicate that AI can optimize Arabic language teaching by reducing human error, speeding up the evaluation process, and supporting the development of students' Arabic language skills. However, challenges related to costs, machine creativity limitations, and adequate infrastructure must be addressed. In conclusion, AI offers a potential solution to enhance Arabic language learning. However, the success of learning still depends on the active involvement of both students and teachers in the process.

Abstract

This study analyzes the poem “Wajadtuhā” (I Found It) by Fadwa Tuqan by combining the ecocritical approach of Glotfelty and Fromm with Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis method. This topic was chosen because the poem presents ecological symbolism that is relevant to socio-ecological crises, particularly in the context of the Sea Wall Project in Indonesia. The main objective of this research is to reveal how the poem fosters ecological awareness and illustrates the relationship between human inner experience and nature. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method. Data were collected through documentation of the poem's text, ecocritical theories, and contextual data from news and environmental policies. To ensure data validity, theory and source triangulation were applied, along with increased rigor through repeated readings and peer discussions. The data analysis followed five stages: comprehensive reading of the text, identifying ecological elements, grouping themes, analyzing ecopoetic aspects, and relating the findings to the context of the Sea Wall Project. The results identified five main themes: ecological healing, resilience, human exploitation, nature’s restoration, and ecological spirituality. Its relevance to the Sea Wall Project is reflected in the critique of the imbalanced human-nature relationship, resistance to the marginalization of coastal ecosystems, and the poem’s voice as a symbolic form of advocacy for ecological rights threatened by development. The poem portrays nature as an existential partner that provides space for reflection and healing, rather than a passive object. These findings affirm that Tuqan’s work is an ecopoetic reflection that raises ecological awareness and critiques environmental exploitation in coastal development.

Teaching materials are a critical component in the curriculum that supports the learning process. This study analyzes the psychological aspects of the Arabic textbook for Grade VI, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of the textbook in meeting the students' needs. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative with a literature study approach. The data sources consist of primary and secondary data relevant to the topic. The primary data in this study is the Arabic Textbook based on KMA Number 189 of 2019. Secondary data serves as a complement to provide additional information from the primary data and is obtained from several literatures such as academic journals and papers. The results of the study show that: (1) The textbook encourages students to learn independently through clear instructions and exercises that are relevant to daily life; (2) The textbook provides activities that stimulate students' creativity, such as thematic dialogues and tasks that require self-expression; (3) The textbook instills positive values such as discipline, responsibility, and care through practical learning materials; (4) The textbook helps students reflect on their learning process and organize learning strategies through language analysis and reflective exercises. Therefore, the Grade VI Arabic textbook is suitable for use, although there are several weaknesses that need to be addressed to enhance learning effectiveness.

Abstract

Arabic textbooks remain the primary reference in the learning process in Madrasahs; however, most of them have not thoroughly considered the socio-cultural, psychological, linguistic, and educational aspects. This gap can hinder the effectiveness of learning and students' understanding of the Arabic language. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of the Arabic textbook for VIII grade Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) based on the perspectives of Abdullah al-Ghali and Abdul Hamid Abdullah, which includes four main aspects of material development. The research adopts a qualitative approach using literature review and content analysis methods. Data were gathered from the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Arabic textbook published in 2020, supported by relevant literature. The results indicate that the textbook performs well in socio-cultural and psychological aspects by integrating Islamic values and organizing content that aligns with students' developmental stages. However, in terms of linguistic and educational aspects, deficiencies were found, such as the absence of a glossary and the limited study guidelines, suggesting the need for further development to support effective and targeted learning.

Abstract

This study examines the effect of using PQRST (Preview, Question, Read, State, Test) on students' reading ability in English narrative texts. The approach used was a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, involving 34 tenth-grade students at MAN 1 Metro, Lampung, as a sample. Data collection techniques included administering tests, observation, and documentation, while data analysis was conducted through normality tests and normalized hypothesis testing. The results showed a significance value (sig-2-tailed) of 0.000, less than 0.05. Thus, the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, indicating a significant and positive influence between the independent and dependent variables. These findings suggest that implementing the PQRST strategy can assist English teachers in integrating online and offline learning methods, as this strategy enables students to understand the material effectively both in and outside the school environment.
