Aksara is a journal that publishes results of literary studies researches, either Indonesian, local, or foreign literature. All articles in Aksara have passed the reviewing process by peer reviewers and edited by editors. Aksara is published by Balai Bahasa Bali twice a year, June and December. Aksara was first published in Denpasar in 1991, by Balai Penelitian Bahasa Denpasar. The name of Aksara had undergone the following changes: Aksara (1991—1998), Aksara Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra (1998—2016), and Aksara (2017). By 2017, Aksara has started to publish in electronic version under the name of Aksara. Since the electronic version should refer to the printed version and following the official document SK 0005.25800353/JI.3.1/SK.ISSN/2017.05 dated May 20th, 2017 stating that ISSN 0854-3283 printed version uses the (only) name of Aksara, in 2017 the electronic version began to use the name Aksara and obtained a new e-ISSN number: 2580-0353. Starting in 2020, Aksara published 12 articles. Aksara accepts submissions of original articles that have not been published elsewhere nor being considered or processed for publication anywhere, and demonstrate no plagiarism whatsoever. The prerequisites, standards, and format of the manuscript are listed in the author guidelines and templates. Any accepted manuscript will be reviewed by at least two referees. Authors are free of charge throughout the whole process, including article submission, review and editing process, and publication.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the creation of fantasy and discourse in BLACKPINK K-Pop. This research used a qualitative research using Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis approach. Research data collections included documentation and in-depth interviews. The data sources of this research were photos of BLACKPINK members and verbal utterances. The data analysis of this research included the processes of (1) reduction, (2) presentation, and (3) drawing conclusions. The results showed that the dimensions of the text showed fantasy because of the fashion and beauty figures of its members. This fantasy proved the existence of power relation possessed by BLACKPINK because it can cause fanaticism for fans. The creation of texts in BLACKPINK figures, as a form of cultural resistance to western hegemony, created hybrid culture as a new identity that shown by fans. The fanaticism shown by fans proved that they were one dimensional society. Social practices that encourage the emergence of BLACKPINK were inseparable from the influence of global culture and the management capabilities of the South Korean (K-Pop) music industry. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis penciptaan fantasi dan wacana pada K-Pop BLACKPINK.Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis Norman Fairclough. Pengumpulan data yang dilakukan dalam penelitian ini mencakup studi dokumentasi dan wawancara mendalam. Sumber data penelitian ini ialah teks foto BLACKPINK dan tuturan verbal. Analisis data penelitian ini mencakup proses (1) reduksi, (2) penyajian, dan (3) penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dimensi teks menunjukkan fantasi karena penampilan fashion dan figur kecantikan anggotanya. Fantasi ini membuktikan adanya relasi kekuasaan yang dimiliki BLACKPINK karena menimbulkan fanatisme bagi penggemarnya. Penciptaan teks dalam figur BLACKPINK sebagai bentuk perlawanan budaya terhadap hegemoni barat yang menimbulkan budaya hibrid sebagai identitas baru yang ditampilkannya. Fanatisme yang ditunjukkan penggemar membuktikan mereka sebagai one dimensional society. Praktik sosial yang mendorong kemunculan BLACKPINK tidak terlepas dari pengaruh budaya global dan kemampuan manajemen industri musik K-Pop Korea Selatan.

Abstract

Oral tradition is an oral habit, which usually tells about traditional cultures intergeneration. In Kalimantan Tengah ‘Central Kalimantan’ (called as KT), the oral tradition is varied with many objectives, such as entertaining or providing suggestions. Therefore, the oral tradition is not so popular for the younger generations. This article aims to analyze the dynamics and revitalization of oral tradition in the form of legends that existed in KT. In collecting the data, two techniques were applied: direct observation, and in-depth interview for obtaining field notes, pictures, and recordings. Ethic and emic approaches were also applied as some texts or documents consisted, related to, and discussed the legends were used. The data of oral traditions show that legends in KT are actually dynamics based on the types of legends and movements of the speakers. The speakers who own the legends also try to revitalize their cultures through education, religion, and social media. This condition implies that oral tradition should be introduced to young generations, not only through formal situations but also through informal ones, such as in the family or community learning which has been and is being conducted by the Balai Bahasa in some Provinces in Indonesia. AbstrakTradisi lisan dapat dimaknai sebagai kebiasaan lisan yang dituturkann secara turun-temurun. Di Kalimantan Tengah (selanjutnya disebut KT) terdapat banyak tradisi lisan dengan berbagai tujuan, seperti menghibur atau memberi nasihat. Namun demikian, tradisi lisan belum begitu dikenal oleh generasi muda. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengupas dinamika dan revitalisasi tradisi lisan berupa legenda di KT. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan dua teknik dalam pengambilan data penelitian, yaitu observasi dan interview untuk mendapatkan catatan lapangan, gambar dan dokumentasi. Pendekatan etik dan emik juga digunakan dalam menganalisis data karena penelitian ini memakai teks-teks dan dokumen yang berisi, berhubungan, dan mendiskusikan tentang legenda. Dari data hasil penelusuran legenda dan kehidupan nyata didapatkan bahwa legenda di KT diklasifikasikan sebagai legenda yang dinamis berdasarkan jenis legenda dan pergerakan penuturnya. Penutur sebagai pemilik legenda pun mempunyai usaha untuk melakukan revitalisasi budaya, yaitu melalui jalur pendidikan, agama, dan media sosial. Situasi ini mempunyai implikasi bahwa revitalisasi tradisi lisan legenda seharusnya dilakukan tidak hanya melalui jalur formal di sekolah, tetapi dapat juga dilakukan melalui keluarga atau pada sekolah/ belajar di komunitas, seperti yang telah dan sedang dilakukan oleh Balai Bahasa di beberapa Provinsi di Indonesia.

Abstract

Artikel ini menguraikan terminologi etnomedisin dalam pengobatan tradisional Sunda. Fokus penelitian ini adalah mengklasifikasikan nama tumbuhan yang dapat dijadikan obat tradisional, nama penyakit tradisional Sunda, dan pemanfaatan obat tradisional sebagai indigenous knowledge masyarakat Sunda. Pendekatan teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah antropologi linguistik, sedangkan pendekatan secara metodologis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah deskriptif dan kualitatif. Data dikumpulkan melalui metode kajian pustaka, observasi dan juga wawancara dengan informan. Analisisnya dibagi menjadi kamus klasifikasi nama penyakit tradisional, kamus klasifikasi nama obat tanaman tradisional, dan pemanfaatan obat tradisional masyarakat Sunda. Penelitian ini menghasilkan (1) 65 nama tumbuhan berkhasiat obat tradisional (2) 51 nama penyakit tradisional Sunda  (3) keberlangsungan praktik pengobatan tradisional

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the transformation of animal narratives in short stories published in Kompas.id between 2020 and 2023, with a focus on the relationship between humans and animals. Animal stories, which were previously positioned as a medium for moral education for children in Indonesia, have now developed into a medium for criticising the relationship between humans, animals, and the environment. Data was collected through a literature study by searching and archiving animal-themed short stories published in Kompas.id during the period. The data analysis technique used was textual analysis with a philosophical interpretation, using Deleuze and Guattari's theory, particularly the concepts of becoming-animal and Body without Organs (BwO). This study analyses five short stories, namely Macan (2020), Histeinalbtraum (2020), Riwayat Seekor Babi (2021), Monyet Pemetik Teh (2022), and Doa Burung-burung (2022). These short stories depict the transformation of animal narratives through allegories laden with social and political meanings. This study reveals the complex dynamics in human-animal relations, while challenging social norms and hierarchies in Indonesian literature. The findings of this study offer a new reading of animal narratives as a medium of ecological criticism that exposes social, cultural, and political tensions in the context of contemporary literature. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis transformasi narasi binatang dalam cerpen-cerpen yang dipublikasikan di Kompas.id antara tahun 2020 hingga 2023, dengan fokus pada relasi manusia dan hewan. Kisahan binatang yang sebelumnya diposisikan sebagai media pendidikan moral bagi anak-anak di Indonesia kini berkembang menjadi medium kritik terhadap relasi manusia, hewan, dan lingkungan. Data dikumpulkan melalui studi pustaka dengan menelusuri dan mengarsipkan cerpen-cerpen bertema binatang yang diterbitkan di Kompas.id selama periode tersebut. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis tekstual dengan interpretasi filosofis, menggunakan teori Deleuze dan Guattari, khususnya konsep becoming-animal dan Body without Organs (BwO). Penelitian ini menganalisis lima cerpen yaitu Macan (2020), Histeinalbtraum (2020), Riwayat Seekor Babi (2021), Monyet Pemetik Teh (2022), dan Doa Burung-burung (2022). Cerpen ini menggambarkan transformasi narasi binatang melalui alegori yang sarat muatan sosial dan politik. Penelitian ini mengungkap dinamika kompleks dalam relasi manusia-hewan, sekaligus menantang norma-norma sosial dan hierarki dalam sastra Indonesia. Temuan penelitian ini menawarkan pembacaan baru atas narasi binatang sebagai medium kritik ekologis yang menyingkap ketegangan sosial, budaya, dan politik dalam konteks sastra kontemporer.

Abstract

This research describes the structure of the endocentric phrases of the Saluan language. The problem is formulated in the form of a question, namely how is the internal structure of the endocentric phrases of Saluan. The theoretical study uses the views of Lyons (1968), Cook (1969), Verhaar (1981 and 1999), Parera (1983), Ramlan (1987), Ahmad HP (1997), and Djajasudarma (2003). The method of collecting data uses listening techniques and speaking techniques based on the opinions of Samarin (1988), Djajasudarma (1993), and Sudaryanto (1993). In data analysis, distributional analysis techniques were used through the views of Djajasudarma (1993). The results showed that the structure of Saluan ensocentric phrases has two types of construction, namely: (1) attributive phrases with patterns H+T, T+H, and, T+H+T. These three patterns can be found in the noun, adjective, verb, and adverb word classes. (2) coordinating phrases with construction types consisting of: (a) additive, (b) appositive, (c) alternative, and (d) coordinating elements consisting of: (i) additive coordinator and (ii) contrastive coordinator. AbstrakPenelitian ini mendeskripsikan struktur frase endosentris bahasa Saluan. Masalah dirumuskan dalam bentuk pertanyaan, yakni bagaimanakah struktur internal frase endosentris bahasa Saluan. Dalam kajian teori digunakan pandangan Lyons (1968), Cook (1969), Verhaar (1981 dan 1999), Parera (1983), Ramlan (1987), Ahmad HP (1997), dan Djajasudarma (2003). Metode pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik simak dan teknik cakap dengan bardasarkan pendapat Samarin (1988), Djajasudarma (1993), dan Sudaryanto (1993). Dalam analisis data digunakan teknik kajian distribusional melalui pandangan Djajasudarma (1993). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa struktur frase ensosentris bahasa Saluan memiliki dua tipe konstruksi, yakni: (1) frase atributif dengan pola H+T, T+H, dan, T+H+T. Ketiga pola tersebut dapat ditemukan pada kelas kata nomina, ajektiva, verba, dan adverbia. (2) frase koordinatif dengan tipe konstruksi yang terdiri atas: (a) aditif, (b) apositif, (c) alternatif, dan (d) unsur-unsurnya berkoordinatif yang terdiri atas: (i) koordinator aditif dan (ii) koordinator kontrastif.

Abstract

The viral phenomenon of the fufufafa account that has been discussed by the public has led to various interpretations in the digital space. This research aims to describe how the fufufafa account discourse in the Abraham Samad SPEAK UP talk show program on YouTube. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data sources in the form of videos from the Abraham Samad SPEAK UP YouTube channel that discuss the topic of the fufufafa account. Data was collected through observation and documentation techniques, then analyzed using the critical discourse analysis approach of Teun A. Van Dijks model, which includes three main dimensions of text analysis, social cognition, and social analysis. The results showed that in the text analysis dimension, the discourse is built through macro structure (theme), superstructure (schematic), and micro structure which includes syntactic, semantic, stylistic, and rhetorical elements. In the social cognition dimension, schemas such as person schema, self schema, role schema, and event schema are found that shape the speakers' perspective on issues. Meanwhile, in the social analysis, there are power relations and control over access to information that influence the framing of discourse. These findings show how digital media shapes the construction of meaning through language. AbstrakFenomena viralnya akun fufufafa yang ramai diperbincangkan publik telah menimbulkan beragam penafsiran di ruang digital. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan wacana akun fufufafa dalam program talkshow Abraham Samad SPEAK UP di YouTube. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif dengan sumber data berupa video dari kanal YouTube Abraham Samad SPEAK UP yang membahas topik akun fufufafa. Data dikumpulkan melalui teknik observasi dan dokumentasi, kemudian dianalisis dengan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis model Teun A. Van Dijk, yang mencakup tiga dimensi utama analisis teks, kognisi sosial, dan analisis sosial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada dimensi analisis teks, wacana dibangun melalui struktur makro (tema), superstruktur (skematik), dan struktur mikro yang mencakup unsur sintaksis, semantik, stilistik, dan retoris. Kemudian pada dimensi kognisi sosial, ditemukan skema-skema seperti skema person, skema diri, skema peran, dan skema peristiwa yang membentuk cara pandang narasumber terhadap isu. Sementara itu, pada analisis sosial, terlihat adanya relasi kuasa dan kendali akses terhadap informasi yang turut memengaruhi pembingkaian wacana. Temuan ini memperlihatkan bagaimana media digital membentuk konstruksi makna melalui bahasa.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify forms of violence and marginalization against women constructed in literary narratives, and to represent how the patriarchal customary system influences the position and role of women in traditional Indonesian society. The novels Perempuan Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam and Tarian Bumi were selected for this study based on considerations that they are works by female authors, deeply rooted in Indonesian traditions, and address women's issues. The research method employed is qualitative with Teun Van Dijk's critical discourse analysis approach. This analysis considers the dimensions of text fragments based on microstructure, superstructure, and macrostructure. The research data consist of discourse fragments that demonstrate representations of violence and marginalization against women. Subsequently, the data were analyzed using the distributional method. The results of this study reveal that in the novel Perempuan Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam, significant discourse of violence was found, manifested in forms of physical, psychological, and symbolic violence. Meanwhile, in the novel Tarian Bumi, the more dominant element is the discourse of women's marginalization across various social, economic, and cultural aspects. AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah menemukan bentuk kekerasan dan marginalisasi terhadap perempuan yang dikonstruksikan dalam narasi sastra, serta merepresentasikan bagaimana sistem adat patriarki mempengaruhi posisi dan peran perempuan dalam masyarakat tradisional Indonesia. Novel Perempuan Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam dan Tarian Bumi dipilih untuk diteliti dengan mempertimbangkan karya perempuan, kental dengan tradisi Indonesia, dan mengangkat isu perempuan. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan analisis wacana kritis Teun Van Dijk.  Analisis ini mempertimbangkan dimensi penggalan teks berdasarkan struktur mikro, superstruktur, dan struktur makro. Data penelitian berupa penggalan wacana yang menunjukkan representasi kekerasan dan marginalisasi perempuan. Selanjutnya data dianalisis dengan metode agih. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa pada novel Perempuan Menangis Kepada Bulan Hitam ditemukan wacana kekerasan yang signifikan yang termanifestaikan dalam bentuk kekerasan fisik, psikologis, dan simbolik. Sementara itu, pada novel Tarian Bumi yang lebih dominan adalah wacana marginalisasi perempuan dalam berbagai aspek sosial, ekonomi, dan budaya.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms of communication and illocutionary speech acts contained in the 50 lecturer’s status of WhatsApp. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The data were obtained through recording screenshoot on lecturer status messages over a period of ten days consisting of 763. The data analysis was carried out using the semiotic theory of communication by Sobur and the theory of speech acts by Searle. The results showed that the form of communication contained in the lecturer’s status WhatsApp consisted of two forms, namely 47% pictures and 53% sentences. The form of illocutionary speech acts contained in status message sentences consists of five types, namely assertive 70%, 15,5 % directive, 13,5% expressive, 0,5% commissive, and 0,5% declarative. The implication is that lecturers' speech during a pandemi is dominant in character, indicating statuses which are reports of certain events. What's interesting is that the topic of the status of these lecturers is not unique in showing themes regarding the Covid-19 pandemi. This indicates that these lecturers lack special attention to the current Covid-19 situation. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bentuk komunikasi dan tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdapat dalam status WhatsApp 50 orang dosen. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Data diperoleh melalui perekaman tangkap layar (screenshoot) pesan status dosen pada kurun waktu sepuluh hari yang terdiri atas 763 buah tulisan dan gambar. Analisis data dilakukan dengan menggunakan teori semiotika komunikasi yang dikemukakan Sobur (2004) dan teori tindak tutur menurut cara Searle. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa bentuk komunikasi yang terdapat dalam pesan status WhatsApp dosen terdiri atas dua bentuk, yaitu berupa gambar/foto sebesar 47% dan berupa kalimat sebesar 53%. Bentuk tindak tutur ilokusi yang terdapat dalam kalimat pesan status terdiri atas lima jenis, yaitu asertif 70%, direktif 15,5%, ekspresif 13,5%, komisif 0,5%, dan deklaratif 0,5%. Implikasinya adalah tuturan dosen di masa pandemi dominan bersifat asertif (menandakan status-status yang bersifat pernyataan atau laporan atas kejadian tertentu). Hal yang menarik adalah topik status dosen-dosen tersebut tidak bersifat unik atau menunjukkan tema-tema tentang pandemi Covid-19. Hal ini menandakan dosen-dosen tersebut kurang memiliki perhatian khusus terhadap sistuasi Covid-19 yang sedang melatarinya.

Abstract

This article aims to prevent the marginalization of Indonesian literature towards authors of Tionghoa descent. The marginalization (segregation) of Tionghoa circles is not only in residential areas, but also on the map of Indonesian literary history. This qualitative descriptive research was carried out using a historical approach. From literature studies and descriptive analysis it is known that the marginalization of Indonesian literary works of Tionghoa descent is determined by five factors, namely historical factors, sociological factors, political factors, economic factors and aesthetic factors. This research concludes that Indonesian-Tionghoa literature should be included in books on the history of Indonesian literature and that its authors should be given a place and space in the pluralistic Indonesian cultural treasures, side by side with other ethnicities. Like a garden, Indonesia will be beautiful if various flowers grow in it and bloom. Therefore, this article also recommends that Indonesian-Tionghoa literature be included in the educational curriculum in secondary schools and universities. AbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan agar tidak lagi terjadi marginalisasi sastra Indonesia terhadap pengarang keturunan Tionghoa. Peminggiran (segregasi) kalangan Tionghoa bukan saja berada di kawasan permukiman, tetapi juga dalam peta sejarah sastra Indonesia. Penelitian deskriptif kualitatif ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan sejarah. Dari studi pustaka dan analisis deskriptif diketahui bahwa marginalisasi terhadap karya-karya sastra Indonesia keturunan Tionghoa ditentukan oleh lima faktor, yaitu faktor historis, faktor sosiologis, faktor politik, faktor ekonomi, dan faktor estetik. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan agar sastra Indonesia-Tionghoa ini dimasukkan dalam buku-buku sejarah sastra Indonesia serta penulisnya diberikan tempat dan ruang dalam khazanah budaya Indonesia yang pluralis, berdampingan dengan etnis lain. Ibarat sebuah taman, Indonesia akan indah kalau di dalamnya tumbuh beraneka bunga nan bermekaran. Karena itu, artikel ini juga merekomendasikan agar sastra Indonesia-Tionghoa ini dimasukkan dalam kurikulum pendidikan di sekolah-sekolah tingkat menengah dan perguruan tinggi.

Abstract

Nowadays the development of technology and information is growing rapidly along with the progress of the times, including in the digital world. This study aims to describe digital literacy- based folklore by utilizing podcast media as a medium for learning digital literature. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach. The Folklore Book About the Origin of Village Names in Cirebon Regency was used as a data source. In collecting data using the method of documentation, content analysis, questionnaires, and observation. The results of the research show that there are cultural values in the book after the study is carried out. This study is based on Kluckhohn's framework of the five basic traits in life that determine human cultural values, such as deliberation, decency, responsibility, and others. One of the most frequent topics is “The Nature of Human Relations with Others (MM)” which is related to the transmission or ecranization of folklore into podcasts that are produced using the Anchor application. The ecranization that occurred was that the book media developed into a digital podcast. The original form of folklore which only consisted of writing or text which later developed into an audio format with musical illustrations that can be accessed digitally. The validation results of media experts show that the media's average rating is 90. This score can be categorized as "Good". In addition, the Cirebon Regency folklore podcast about the origins of village names can be used as a medium for learning literature. Cirebon Regency students gave a response of 77.65% to the use of podcasts. Based on these results, it is included in the very good category.
