Abstract

The development of the digital world provides opportunities for students to communicate directly with foreigners from various parts of the world. This study focuses on analyzing the application of ethical manners by students of Islamic universityy in Indonesia in English conversations through synchronous social media with foreign speakers. The aim is to determine the form of application of courtesy ethics in conversations in English with foreign speakers by Islamic university students. The results of this study are expected to be a recomendation for educators and students themselves in improving education and the application of ethical manners in English as international language. Given that Islamic University students are one of the well-educated ambassadors of the Islamic community in the international world. The subjects of this study involved 30 students of the Syarif Hidayatullah Islamic University Jakarta. Students have conversations with foreign speakers using the Ome TV and Zoom Meeting application which is carried out naturally. Qualitative descriptive research method is used to obtain data in this study. This study finds several patterns of ethical application of courtesy by students which are discussed in terms of ethical principles in speaking basically based on six maxim of politeness by Leech. The results of this study also provide ethical recommendations for English conversation to Islamic university students as social media users. In addition, it is also hoped that it will become a reference for teachers to always provide language education that has ethical values ​​of politeness that can be accepted by all communities worldwide.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the depletion of fossil fuels in nature, which is inversely proportional to the higher level of fuel oil consumption, so the need for alternative fuels, namely biodiesel. Biodiesel can be made using waste cooking oil because of its abundant quantity, low price, and not being reused. One of the efforts to achieve energy conservation and improve fuel quality is using bioadditives. A lemon essential oil can be used as a bio-additive because it is easily soluble in fuel and its oxygen-rich content can reduce the rate of fuel consumption. The process in this study is to produce biodiesel with waste cooking oil (WCO) using a transesterification process. Biodiesel samples containing the bioadditive lemon essential oil on B20 biodiesel with varying volume fraction (0%; 0.1%; 0.15%; 0.2%). In general, this research can be done in three steps. The first step is the characterization of the compound composition (GCMS) and functional group (FTIR) of diesel fuel, biodiesel, and lemon essential oil bioadditive. The second step is the characterization of the physicochemical properties (density, viscosity, flash point, calorific value) of B20 biodiesel with various concentrations of lemon essential oil bioadditive, then compared with SNI 7182:2015. The third step is determining the rate of fuel consumption in diesel engines. The results show that Biodiesel B20 with a volume fraction of 2% lemon essential oil bioadditive has a high ability to reduce the rate of fuel consumption. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Tiktok social media on increasing Islamic knowledge among students. The object of this research is the students with the number of participants involved are 43 students from 20 universities. Data collection was carried out by a questionnaire consisting of 24 questions. The data collection process is carried out using the Google form platform method. The results showed that quantitatively the students had a positive influence between the influence of Tiktok and Islamic knowledge. In this study, the results showed the numbers 0.70-0.140 which means the effect is in the medium effect. Meanwhile, it is measured using psychological and related indicators to see the effect of Tiktok and Islamic knowledge among students using the SPSS Pearson statistics. Keywords: : Social Media, Influence, Knowledge

Abstract

This article aims to investigate students’ point of view about the most preference on online writing course media and their reasons. The methodology used was qualitative research method. The instrument was the questionnaires that were given to 34 students of Writing Course. They were in the fourth semester majoring in English Teaching. The finding showed the various type of applications and digital technology for learning in synchronous class such as, zoom, Google meet, Facebook, and Whatsapp Chat video. The Social media and translation machines take place as the most preferable online media for writing course. In choosing learning media, teachers must consider the learners’ previous knowledge related to technological skills as well as the practicality of the media. There are plenty of sophisticated online media of writing nowadays, but without having a good research on students’ preferences, it will be worthless.

Abstract

Many studies related to EFL investigate that a mismatch betweenteaching and learning styles cause learning failure, frustration, anddemotivation. The implementation of ESP in Indonesia mostly adoptsContent-Based Instruction which requires a lot of effort from the teacher.The teachers’ perspectives are important to reveal the actual challenges inthe classroom to determine the best solution. A questionnaire wasdistributed to around thirty lecturers of ESP to be analyzed statistically byusing the Likert scale to show their views on the obstacles and challengesof teaching ESP. There are four domains that are analyzed which are,opinions, attitudes, preferences, and perceptions of the subjects. Theresearcher counted and found out the average score, middle point in thescore distribution, point where the most score was obtained, finding theaverage deviation of each score from the mean, and percentage of theproportion of the group population. From all of those calculation results,the researcher derives conclusion by comparing to the result of theinterview as well. It comes to the conclusion that from four fields thathad been studied, attitudes and preferences take the highest rank of theteachers’ challenge.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine what factors trigger mental disorders experienced by adolescents. The object of this study amounted to 186 parents who have children at the junior high school level and senior high school level. Data was taken based on a questionnaire. The results showed that each teen has different causes of mental disorders. The causative factor can be influenced by the home environment and school environment, both from parents and peers.

Abstract

In general, conflicts always occur in married life, but conflicts that often occur can cause one of the factors for divorce. Divorce does not only have an impact on the person concerned (husband and wife) but also involves children, especially those entering their teens because divorce is a burden for each child which can impact on the interest and motivation of learning a child. This is one of the reactions resulting from the divorce of his parents. The reaction of each child to the impact of divorce is greatly influenced by the way parents behave before, during, and after the divorce. The purpose of this study was to determine the attitude of a child or the psychology of each child in choosing a friendship environment either at school or at home. This research method uses a questionnaire method by giving a set of written questions to respondents online. Thus, to overcome this treatment, social workers must strive to achieve the achievement of welfare for children and can provide family counseling services.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang pengaruh dari konsumsi anime terhadap sikap prokrastinasi akademik yang terjadi pada mahasiswa. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada bulan April 2022. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan populasi 60 mahasiswa yang berusia 17-25 tahun, dan menyukai anime. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan kuesioner yang terdiri dari 30 pernyataan favorable dan unfavorable yang diambil dari beberapa penelitian lain, kemudian disebarkan melalui google form secara acak. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah dihitung menggunakan skala likert, dan diolah dengan menggunakan program Microsoft Excel. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, (1) tingkat prokrastinasi dari mahasiswa yang mengkonsumsi anime ada di tingkat sedang, dengan persentase 81,6%, (2) pengaruh dari konsumsi anime terhadap sikap prokrastinasi akademik pada mahasiswa tidak terlalu berpengaruh, karena para mahasiswa memiliki skala prioritasnya, dan para mahasiswa hanya menonton anime ketika liburan saja.

Abstract

Quarter-life crisis merupakan fenomena psikososial yang berada pada rentang usia yang sama dengan masa dewasa baru, yaitu antara 18 hingga 29 tahun yang ditandai dengan munculnya reaksi emosional seperti stres, frustasi, panik, tidak berdaya, khawatir akan masa depan, tidak ada tujuan, dll. Tujuan penelitian kami adalah untuk melihat perbandingan dan menganalisis uji perbedaan tingkat quarter life crisis yang dialami oleh mahasiswa semester 2 dengan mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Objek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Metode yang digunakan ialah kualitatif dengan survei yaitu dengan membuat 25 pertanyaan melalui google form. Teknik analisis data ini adalah apabila individu menjawab “YA” 12 atau lebih maka ia sedang mengalami quarter life crisis. Hasil analisis dari penelitian ini adalah tingkat quarter life crisis yang dialami oleh mahasiswa tingkat akhir lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan mahasiswa semester 2. Pada mahasiswa semester sudah banyak yang mengalami dan memikirkan akan masa depan tetapi tidak memikirkan lebih dalam seperti pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir dikarenakan mahasiswa tingkat akhir sudah dipenghujung masa perkuliahan yang dimana sudah harus siap dan mulai memikirkan dan melanjutkan kehidupan dijenjang berikutnya.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of parents in assisting social skills learning activities in online learning in Kindergarten (TK) age children. The reason for taking this research is because of the physical distancing policy which makes social activities limited. At the same time, making children's play needs become unfulfilled. So it demands not to interact directly with their friends socially. Usually studying happily at school, meeting and socializing with teachers and friends, now they are forced to study in unusual conditions, namely learning from home. The method used in this research is a survey method with quantitative research. The data collection instrument used a closed statement with these indicators adjusted to what the role of parents and those faced by children in the Covid-19 pandemic condition and distributed online. In this study, 44 parent respondents were collected from the results of distributing questionnaires via WhatsApp, Facebook broadcasts. Based on the results of the study, it was found that knowing the role of parents in assisting learning activities for social skills in online learning for Kindergarten-aged children cannot be separated from the roles and responsibilities of parents during the current pandemic which requires children to learn, play, and play. interact at home accompanied by parents.
