Beginning from Vol. 1 No. 1 (2017), all articles will be published in the English version and Indonesia version. The publication frequency is twice a year in March and October. Abstract

This research is based on the results of a preliminary study conducted by researchers during the implementation of the Internship at SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho, a problem was found, namely the understanding of mathematical concepts of students in the poor category. The purpose of this study was to determine the difficulty of understanding mathematical concepts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho and to find out the factors that cause difficulties in understanding mathematical concepts. The instruments used are concept understanding tests, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 2 Hiliduho in the 2022/2023 Learning Year, totaling 57 people with qualitative descriptive research methods. The results of the study obtained difficulties in understanding the concepts experienced by students, namely: the inability to provide an interpretation of the concepts that have been written down, the inability to remember what a circle must have, the inability to reexpress concepts in other forms, difficulty in developing necessary or sufficient conditions of a concept. Factors causing difficulties in understanding concepts are the lack of use of teaching aids during the learning process, lack of mastery of previous material, and not practicing working on problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan pendidikan karakter menurut Az-Zarnuji dan implementasinya di Pondok Pesantren Baitul Qur’an Sragen. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kajian lapangan yang mengambil sumber penelitiannya dari buku-buku maupun jurnal yang berkaitan dengan judul, dan juga melakukan wawancara kepada pimpinan pondok sebagai narasumber, juga kepada sebagian guru dan santri yang memberikan informasi tentang sekolah tersebut sebagai objek penelitian. Teknik validitas data menggunakan teknik triangulasi yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian ini adalah bagaimana kemudian konsep pendidikan karakter dalam perspektif Az-Zarnuji yang bercorak tasawuf dan keteladanan ini dapat diimplementasikan, sehingga menjadi santri yang berkarakter qur’ani, sebagaimana visi sekolah, yaitu mencetak generasi qur’ani, mandiri dan berprestasi.

Abstract

Leadership ethics or the role of the principal in carrying out his duties and responsibilities has a significant impact on the success of the principal's effectiveness in strengthening working relationships with educators or teachers, with the aim of improving their performance in the school environment. The positive attitude shown by the school principal can create a comfortable working atmosphere and increase motivation among teaching staff. As a result, teachers will consciously improve themselves and achieve optimal performance in carrying out their duties. Improving teacher performance not only benefits the individual, but also has a positive impact on the overall performance of the school. Therefore, school principals need to demonstrate integrity and good moral behavior in the school environment. The main focus of this research is to evaluate the effectiveness of ethical leadership in strengthening working relationships between leaders and teachers, as well as among fellow teachers or teaching staff. This research was specifically conducted at SD Negeri 112323 Silumanjang School, using a qualitative approach. Data was collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of written documents. It is hoped that the results of this research can contribute as a source of theory or reference for improving working relationships with teachers, especially in the context of improving the quality of educational institutions.

Abstract

The emergence of radical understanding among students is allegedly an attempt by Islamic fundamentalists to carry out regeneration with the main target of intellectuals. For this reason, serious efforts are needed from the entire academic community to anticipate the development of radicalism on campus. Understanding the value of religious moderation to students is very important to build a moderate and polite student perspective and religious practice. This article aims to examine the implementation of the value of religious moderation in state universities to prevent radicalism through the integration of religious education materials. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. Researchers collect data through observation and documentation studies by tracing various expert studies, online and offline newspapers, articles, and published scientific works related to research. Based on the results of the study it was found: there is an opportunity for students to be exposed to radicalism, the role of religious lecturers is very important in preventing radicalism on campus through the development of learning models of religious education, it is necessary to integrate the value of religious moderation with religious education

Abstract

The study explored the use of the Duolingo application in junior high school language education to improve speaking ability. The research used a quasi-experimental design, dividing students into two groups: one receiving traditional instruction and the other using Duolingo as a supplementary tool. Data was collected through speaking assessments, student surveys, and classroom observations. The results showed a significant improvement in speaking ability among the Duolingo group compared to the traditional instruction group. The application's interactive features, gamified elements, and accessibility make it an engaging and effective learning experience. Student feedback also indicated increased motivation and interest in language learning. The study highlighted the potential of integrating Duolingo into language education and its implications for curriculum design, technology role in language learning, and addressing diverse learning styles. It provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of using Duolingo as a supplementary tool for enhancing speaking ability in junior high school language education. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impact and scalability of Duolingo in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out about how people behave as entrepreneurs in their business, known as entrepreneurial ethics. Many business owners overlook the importance of ethics when starting a company because they believe it can be done quickly with a lot of skill and funding. This research uses a qualitative approach, using data processing techniques based on interviews, observations and documentation related to this research. The research results obtained are that in their daily entrepreneurial actions, managers are always faced with ethical dilemmas, which they must maintain continuously because a company's ethical reputation takes time to develop. And goodwill is an invaluable asset for a business.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine and analyze the effect of entrepreneurial knowledge and the use of social media on student entrepreneurial interest, both individually and simultaneously. This research method is quantitative, uses multiple linear regression models, and applies statistical analysis using SPSS software version 26. The research population includes STIE Galileo students in the even semester of 2022/2023, and the sampling technique was carried out using the Slovin formula, which resulted in 74 students as randomly selected samples. The results of this study indicate a significant influence between entrepreneurial knowledge and the use of social media on student entrepreneurial interest, both partially and jointly. The findings of this study can strengthen entrepreneurial knowledge and social media utilization as an effort to stimulate students' entrepreneurial interest.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between students' attitudes towards mathematics learning and mathematical communication skills of 8th grade students of SMPN 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi. This type of research is quantitative research with an associative approach that aims to determine the relationship between two or more variables. The number of informants from this study was 186 students. Data collection techniques through student attitude questionnaire, and written test of mathematical communication ability. Based on this research, the results of hypothesis testing obtained thitung = 3.969 and ttabel 1.653. Because the hypothesis tcount = 3.969> ttable 1.653 then H0 is rejected H1 is accepted which means "There is a relationship between student attitudes on mathematics learning towards students' mathematical communication skills this shows that there is a significant relationship between the attitudes of students in class VIII SMPN 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi". So it can be concluded that students' attitudes towards learning mathematics have a relationship to students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the observations of researchers at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi, which is still found that students do not like to study mathematics, sometimes this lesson is a difficult lesson both in material and in learning so that it causes the level of critical thinking of students in solving math problems is still lacking. This study aims to describe the level of critical thinking skills of students, especially class VIII at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Idanoi, using descriptive qualitative research methods: research that describes variables as they are supported by data generated from actual circumstances. Based on the research results, the average level of students' critical thinking is 47.39 with the average acquisition of students' critical thinking skills based on indicators obtained: Interpretation indicators (60.58), Analysis indicators (55.29), Evaluation indicators (35.58), and Inference indicators (53.85). Thus, based on the average value of students' critical thinking skills, it is obtained that the level of critical thinking of students is still low. Critical thinking is not easy, but critical thinking skills can be learned and trained.

Abstract

This research aims to improve higher education writing achievement through a ground-breaking experimental investigation of problem-based learning and technological integration. Motivated by recognized issues in English education at Adzkia University, where students struggle with weaknesses in paragraph building, idea production, and organizational skills, our research strives to reshape the landscape of writing training. Our study pioneers a unique departure from previous techniques by recognizing instructional methodology and technology as critical elements. Problem-based learning and technological integration emerge as dynamic alternatives, promising a paradigm shift in how writing skills are developed in higher education. The instruments that were used for this research were writing tests. T-test analysis was used in analyzing the data. Our findings from T-test analysis show that students exposed to problem-based learning and technology significantly improve their writing proficiency, exceeding their counterparts in traditional education. In summary, this study drives the conversation on educational technique, asking institutions to embrace the dynamic integration of problem-based learning and technology. The findings not only demonstrate the effectiveness of this novel strategy, but also herald a new age in higher education in which writing prowess becomes an empowered manifestation of student accomplishment.
