Abstract

Educational ethics is a moral foundation in developing students' character. In this context, teachers are responsible for guiding students not only in academic aspects, but also in ethical values, integrity and social responsibility. Educational ethics includes the development of positive attitudes, morality, and interpersonal skills, all of which are important for forming a balanced person and contributing positively to society. In this process, teachers must pay attention to moral principles, justice and empathy in order to create a learning environment that supports the growth of good character in students. Teachers need to be role models in implementing ethical values, along with providing thought-provoking teaching. critical and moral reflection on students. The application of educational ethics also includes fair treatment of all students, without discrimination based on background or ability. In addition, learning should promote respect for diversity of cultures and views, helping students understand universal values, such as tolerance and cooperation. The importance of educational ethics lies in the formation of strong character in students, so that they can become responsible citizens and have integrity. In an ever-changing global context, teachers need to continually update their approaches in line with relevant ethical values to ensure that education is not just about knowledge, but also the formation of good character for future generations.

Abstract

This research discusses post-land conflict transformation efforts between the AD Dislitbang and the community in Urut Sewu. Agrarian conflict is a conflict that often occurs in Indonesia. This unclear land ownership has resulted in problems between the TNI, in this case Dislitbangad, and the farming community; the TNI uses the land for training and testing heavy weapons, while the community uses the land to cultivate secondary crops. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, where the research results show the dynamics of land conflicts in Urutsewu and efforts to transform the conflict towards peace. The results of the research show that the dynamics of conflict between the Urut Sewu Dislitbangad, Kebumen Regency can be seen from the factors causing the conflict, which are based on socio-economic aspects in the form of the community's need and dependence on agricultural land as a necessity for their life which makes the Urutsewu community use all means, including violence, to defend their agricultural land. Meanwhile, conflict transformation is a long-term peace process that includes various efforts to reconstruct new relationships, build trust, empathy and cooperation through reconciliation, and strengthen social resilience at the personal, relational, structural and cultural levels.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the challenges and efforts of educational institutions in developing an academic culture of interest in reading in their students. This research uses a qualitative approach with the case study method as a strategy of inquiry. The focus and subjects of the research were among madrasa heads, teachers, and students at three State Madrasah Aliyahs in Jambi City. Primary data was collected by distributing questionnaires, in-depth interviews and observations. Meanwhile, secondary data was collected through extensive document study. This research shows that the academic and cultural challenges of interest in reading in the three state aliyah madrasahs in Jambi City are almost the same, namely the lack of monitoring of reading habits in the madrasah arena. Even though madrasas face challenges, efforts to develop an academic culture of interest in reading continue to be carried out in each madrasa in Jambi City.

Abstract

In Indonesia, drills, question and answer technique, translation technique and minimal use of media are still in existence to teach vocabulary. These might lead to students’ boredom and learning disengagement. This qualitative study aims to report on teacher's experience when integrating Spelling Bee as a monitoring assessment of vocabulary mastery and as a consideration to specify possible teaching instruction. The action research method was employed to prescribe a set of sequential steps: reflect, get data, plan, act, and analyze. The steps are fluid, flexible and iterative at any point when necessary. Data triangulation was used to validate multiple data sources collected. There were two main findings after the second cycle was complete i.e., students’ level of engagement and students score increased by integrating Spelling Bee in the activity. Spelling Bee to equip students with meaningful activities has been achieved especially to serve the purposes of a warm up and an occasional touch to reflect DI implementation. Yet, the time allocation for the integration was inefficiency. Therefore, the integration successfully addresses young students’ style of learning and it can be less effective for more higher level of junior high school students.

Abstract

This study aims to determine how the implementation of the independent learning curriculum is, to find out the obstacles faced in implementing the independent learning curriculum and to find out the efforts made in overcoming the obstacles to implementing the independent learning curriculum at SMK Negeri 1 Lahewa in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The purpose of using a descriptive approach is to find meaning starting from facts by making observations recording all facts in a holistic scientific manner with the problems observed. The research instrument is the researcher himself, using a mobile phone as a tool to record all conversations, pictures as real evidence, and a notebook that serves to record conversations with informants. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the research and discussion concluded that: First, the implementation of the independent learning curriculum has been implemented but not fully implemented. Of the three categories of independent curriculum implementation, SMK Negeri 1 Lahewa uses the independent learning category option, which means that schools are given the authority to use the 2013 curriculum structure but apply several principles of the independent learning curriculum in the learning process and assessment. Second, the obstacles faced in implementing the independent learning curriculum at SMK Negeri 1 Lahewa are that teachers do not have experience in accordance with this independent learning curriculum. Then there are difficulties in obtaining material references, and including inadequate facilities and infrastructure and internet facilities. Third, the efforts made to overcome the obstacles to the independent learning curriculum are preparing teachers by participating in online-based socialisation to have experience in implementing the independent curriculum, then utilising social media to obtain material references according to the independent curriculum such as modules, books provided by the government and the implementation of facilities and infrastructure and facilities that support the education process by collaborating with the government.

Second, what characters are strengthened by Civics teachers in preventing bullying is the character of tolerance where tolerance is respecting differences, and still giving advice to students on how to establish good communication, discipline, for example, obeying the dress code, arriving on time when entering school to obey the rules set by the teacher at school, as well as honest character and as well as getting used to educated participants staring directed at positive activities so as to avoid things related to bullying. Third, the obstacles faced in linking student character as an effort to prevent bullying are the lack of self-confidence of these students, for example in terms of speaking, interacting between students is difficult for the teacher to guess because some students prioritize silence and do not talk much, and vary in terms of receiving learning in equipping themselves to get learning, and do not want to listen or ignore what the teacher says.

Abstract

Leadership can be defined as an individual's ability to influence, motivate and enable others to contribute to the effectiveness and success of the Village. The essence of national development is basically the human being himself who is the center point of all development efforts and what will be built. Article 26 paragraph (2) of Law No. 6 of 2014 states that the Village Head is in charge of organizing the Village administration, implementing Village development, fostering the Village community and empowering the Village community. This research aims: To describe the leadership role of the Village head in realizing development in Tetehosi I Village, Gunungsitoli Idanoi District in 2023. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study reveal that the leadership role of the Village Head in realizing development in Tetehosi I Village is: being a facilitator of planned development, being a mobilizer to mobilize Village officials and the community, being a motivator to achieve a goal, running in accordance with established regulations. The constraints faced in realizing development are: first, budget absorption; this is related to the allocation of Village development because the Village has three Hamlets and a very large population of Tetehosi I with a total of 2,238 residents; second, not all community aspirations can be facilitated; third, Village funds in Tetehosi I are very limited (Village funds are not focused on development alone); fourth, lack of community participation; fifth, there are differences of opinion regarding the land / plot being built and lack of cohesiveness between communities. The efforts made by the Village Head in this case are the Village Head in carrying out his role as a facilitator, mobilizer and motivator, being a leader for the Village apparatus team, accepting all ideas or aspirations from various elements of the community; bringing the community closer if there are residents who have different assumptions or disputes during the course of development.
