Edumaspul: Jurnal Pendidikan is first published in March 2017 and covers much research in all levels of education (primary, secondary, and higher education). Edumaspul: Jurnal Pendidikan become a CrossRef Member since the year 2019. Therefore, all articles published will have a unique DOI number. Beginning from Vol. 1 No. 1 (2017), all articles will be published in the English version and Indonesia version. The publication frequency is twice a year in March and October. Abstract

Peranan orang tua merupakan kegiatan inti dalam sebuah pembiasaan kegiatan pendidikan di rumah. Peranan orang tua dilihat dari aspek nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam yang tercermin dalam tingkah prilaku, akhlakul karmah dan keimanan kepada Allah SWT. Pada saat pandemi covid-19 saat ini, orang tua kan berperan ekstra karena semua pembelajaran di sekolah menjadi di rumahkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui: (1) Peranan orang tua dalam penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam (2) Bentuk peranan orang tua dalam penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa peranan orang tua dalam penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam masih ditemukan bahwa banyak orang tua yang belum paham betuk peranannya terhadap pendidikan anak, juga dalam penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam terhadap anaknya. Kata kunci: Peranan orang tua siswa dalam penerapan nilai-nilai pendidikan agama islam

Abstract

Moral merupakan nilai penting dalam diri manusia. Melalui pendidikan dan pengajaran, nilai moral pada setiap individu akan berkembang dan membentuk karakter baik. Salah satu ulama yang memformulasikan konsep pendidikan moral adalah Abdullah Nashih Ulwan dalam kitabnya yang berjudul Tarbiyatul Aulad Fii al-Islam. Dalam pemikirannya, pendidikan moral diinternalisasikan dengan menumbuhkan rasa takut kepada Allah dan rasa diawasi oleh Allah yang menjadi benteng pemisah bagi individu untuk tidak melakukan keburukan. Selain itu, konsep ini menitikberatkan pada perhatian dan pengawasan orangtua terhadap beberapa perilaku anak yang merupakan substansi penting dalam pendidikan moral. Melalui penelitian study literature dengan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif, peneliti bertujuan menggali konsep pendidikan moral perspektif Abdullah Nashih Ulwan secara lebih komprehensif dan detail. Hasil penelitian ini menjelaskan formula pendidikan moral pada keluarga muslim yang dapat diinternalisasikan oleh orangtua dalam mendidik moral anak.

Abstract

Willingness to Communicate (WTC) has become an important concept in second language (L2) classroom context. WTC is proven as a predictor of classroom participation since students who tend to have high WTC participated more in classroom interaction and they are likely to be ready to get involved in any interactions using their L2 both inside and outside classroom. Given the central role teachers play in pedagogy, who shape the curriculum within the context and content, and shape the decisions of teaching methods and strategy play dynamic role in maintaining students’ willingness to communicate. This study aims: (1) to portray teachers’ beliefs about their role and practice of interaction strategies in maintaining students’ WTC; (2) to find out interaction strategies employed by the teacher in maintaining students’ WTC. Employing narrative inquiry, the two experience English teacher was gathered by means of personal narrative and interview. The findings revealed that teacher plays a very crucial role in students’ WTC. This study also highlight that the use of three interaction strategies such as teacher-front, facilitator-oriented, and learner-oriented strategy can contribute in maintaining students’ WTC, by applying appropriate techniques. This study suggest that teacher should perform various roles to become an ideal guide in shaping students’ WTC. The use of various effective strategies with involving familiar term of topic, and the use of encouragement can be applied in encouraging English interaction. This present study is expected to create awareness on the significance of EFL teachers to share their interaction skills and vary effective interaction strategies improve the quality of English teaching and learning.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning is an independent and effective process where learners can fully control their learning. This narrative inquiry research aims to investigate the perspectives and experiences of EFL students who frequently watch YouTube videos to learn English outside of the classroom. The data from six participants of one of state university in Karawang, Indonedia were collected through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. It was found that the majority of the students’ showed positive perceptions towards the use of YouTube for their goal commitment, affective, resource, and culture regulation. In contrast, the students showed negative perceptions towards the use of YouTube for their metacognitive and social regulation. Regarding students’ experiences, the findings revealed: (1) English skills that can be improved by frequently watching YouTube are listening and speaking skills; (2) the students tend to like the videos as feedback; (3) each student has a different preference on what videos and channels they usually watch to help them learn English; and (4) learning English using YouTube was considered to be more flexible, easier to be understood, and more enjoying than formal learning; nonetheless, formal learning can help the students practice their English more. In conclusion, using YouTube videos was considered to be helpful to accommodate the students’ self-regulated English learning.

Abstract

Designing and implementing a lesson plan is a complex process, so that according to several studies, the pre-service EFL teachers still had difficulties during designing and implementing a lesson plan. As novice designers, pre-service EFL teachers still lack of knowledge and expertise. Therefore, this study aims to find out the voices of the pre-service EFL teachers about their own experiences in designing and implementing their lesson plans. Five pre-service EFL teachers who had experienced to design and implement a lesson plan in the teaching practicum program during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak at Senior High Schools in Karawang were recruited as the research participants. This study uses a qualitative approach and uses collective case studies research design. Online written interviews and virtual observation were conducted to collect data as information to answer the research question, and the interview data were then analyzed using thematic analysis. This research found out that designing and implementing lesson plans practiced by the pre-service EFL teachers during the teaching programs were perceived as decision-making process, non-negotiable process, and challenging process.

Abstract

Learning language nowadays can be done by many ways including using mobile technology or mobile phone and its applications. Learning uses mobile applications not only can be done by using app-based language learning, but also using general application. This descriptive case study was used to investigate and find out about pre-service teachers’ levels and perceptions on the use of mobile applications for language learning. The data from six pre-service teachers were collected by using semi-structured interviews and questionnaire. The result showed that all of pre-service teachers have different levels of using mobile applications for language learning based on their purposes, challenges and experiences. In addition, most of pre-service teachers have positive perceptions on the use of mobile application for their language learning regarding on aim-mobile technologies fit, appropriate of branch, and forms of m-learning application and tools’ sufficient adequacy of communication, the findings revealed that (1) mobile applications remove the limitation of time and space; (2) mobile applications are reliable for personal use; and (3) course materials could be sent to students via mobile applications. In conclusion, the use of mobile applications for language learning are helpful for pre-service teachers.

Abstract

Distance Learning in the Covid-19 pandemic era has become an alternative used by every university so that the learning process activities continue even though it is only face-to-face so that educational goals are achieved effectively and efficiently. This study aims to analyze the effect of the Distance Learning Environment on Intrinsic Motivation in learning for students of the Social Sciences Education study program. The method used in this research is quantitative research method with the sampling technique used is cluster sampling. The population used in this study were 252 social studies education students batch 2018-2020, while the sample used was 155 respondents. Based on the results of the t-test, the results obtained are t-count 8.384 > t-table 1.975, which means that there is an influence of the Distance Learning Environment variable on Intrinsic Motivation in learning in students of the Social Sciences Education study program. This is reinforced by the acquisition of the coefficient of determination test results of 31.3%.

Abstract

Code-switching is an inevitable phenomenon that often happens inside a foreign or second English classroom. However, this phenomenon is often treated like the elephant in the room: the teacher recognizes its presence but is never really aware of it. While many studies regarding code-switching topics in EFL classrooms only focus on analyzing the type of teacher's code-switching. This study aims to seek out the pedagogical functions behind the teacher's decision to code-switch and determine the students' perception towards the teacher's code-switching. The classroom observation and two interview sessions are conducted with one teacher and three participants by applying a case study. It is found that the student's shallow English proficiency influences the student's perception of code-switching, and the teacher is very conscious of the pedagogical functions when she decided to code-switch.

Abstract

Multikulturalisme menjadi ruang lingkup dan objek utama dalam toleransi. Dewasa ini, Indonesia sebagai negara yang multikultural dihadapkan pada disharmoni sosial yang tinggi. Kasus intoleransi di Indonesia berada pada tingkat yang mengkhawatirkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana sikap toleransi dapat di tanamkan pada lingkungan masyarakat multikultural berdasarkan perpektif tafsir al-azhar karya Abdulmalik Abdulkarim Amrullah (Hamka). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kepustakaan (library research), penelitian kepustakaan (library research) merupakan suatu penelitian yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan informasi dan data dengan bantuan berbagai macam material yang ada di perpustakaan seperti buku, majalah, artikel, kisah-kisah sejarah, berita, dan sebagainya. Sumber data dari penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder. Dimana penelitian ini berdasarkan al-qur’an sebagai huddan linnas yang memiliki ratusan ayat terkait sikap toleransi sehingga Abdulmalik Abdulkarim Amrullah (Hamka) seorang mufasir nusantara memiliki perhatian yang lebih terhadap sikap intoleransi yang ada di negara ini. Kemudian beliau mengkaji ayat-ayat tersebut sebagai solusi membentuk lingkungan damai dan tentram di tengah masyarakat yang multikultural melalui sikap toleransi berdasarkan al quran. Hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa sikap yang harus di tanamkan yaitu sikap saling menghargai dan menghormati, saling mengasihi dan menyayangi, menjunjung tinggi perdamaian dan adil terhadap sesama.
