Abstract

The issue of clean water availability remains a significant challenge in rural areas, including Teluklada Village, Sobang District, Pandeglang Regency, where most residents rely on traditional water sources of poor quality. The water used by the community often has an unpleasant odor, turbidity, coarse particles, and mosquito larvae. The Community Service Program (KKM) 51 of Universitas Bina Bangsa, conducted from July 15 to August 7, 2025, aimed to implement biofilter technology as an appropriate solution to address this problem. This study is an applied research with a descriptive approach, utilizing direct observation, in-depth interviews, and brainstorming sessions with local residents and village officials. The implementation stages included site surveys, procurement of tools and materials, assembly, testing, and a result seminar. The biofilter employed natural filtration media consisting of activated carbon, silica sand, and coconut fiber, arranged vertically inside PVC pipes using a lateral-inlet-upflow system. The trial conducted at the KKM Post in Kampung Sadar RT 02/RW 02 showed a significant improvement in water quality: clearer appearance, reduced odor, absence of particles and larvae, and suitability for non-consumption purposes. Community response was highly positive, with requests for replication in other areas. However, limitations include the absence of laboratory testing for chemical and microbiological parameters and no trials on saline water sources. In conclusion, the biofilter technology proved to be effective, easy to construct, cost-efficient, and operable by the community independently, making it a potential model for sustainable clean water provision in rural areas.

Abstract

The PKM partner is Mrs. Popy Dwi Novitasari and Mrs. Feri Retno Nurhayati. The owner of the "Nona Perry" banana bolen cake business takes the name from both of them. The business is located at Lempung Baru Street No. 1, Lontar, Sambikerep Subdistrict, Surabaya, East Java, 60185. The priorities of the issues are as follows: 1) There is no proper management of the storage of banana ingredients for production, 2) Inconsistency in production as it is still limited to orders, 3) There is no product diversification, "Nona Perry" Bolen Cake only has 2 flavor variations, which are chocolate and cheese, 4) There is no branding, although there is already a brand "Nona Perry" for the bolen product, the strengthening of the brand image "Nona Perry" still needs to be improved. 5) The market segment is still limited to orders from colleagues and peers, 6) There is no massive promotion, only limited to WhatsApp and Instagram groups. 7) The partner has minimal knowledge of working capital and profit-loss calculations, 8) The workforce is unstable, 9) Partners still have limited knowledge about production waste processing and green economy, 10) Partners still have limited knowledge to innovate on advanced production processing methods implemented through the development of appropriate technology (TTG), training, mentoring, and partnerships. The results of implementing activities in this program include coordination of program implementation with partners, dissemination of TTG, procurement of equipment, and training for healthy production, training and mentoring for online and offline sales, training and mentoring for label and logo creation, training and mentoring for financial transaction recordkeeping of businesses. The impact of this activity is an increase in the capacity and quality of partner products by 30%, an increase in partner turnover by 30%, and an increase in partners' knowledge and skills by 50%.

Abstract

Educational agro-ecotourism has emerged as an innovative strategy to integrate food security, economic value-added, and digitalization within community-based development. The community service program at Pleret Dam 1904 was conducted through nine structured stages, including modern agricultural training, post-harvest processing, institutional strengthening, and digital promotion activation. The program resulted in a 200 m² educational garden, three ready-to-market processed products, and improved governance capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) through basic SOPs and bookkeeping. These findings confirm previous studies emphasizing the role of social capital and technological innovation in sustaining community-based ecotourism. The main contribution of this study lies in demonstrating that the synergy of educational agriculture, downstreaming, and digital promotion can serve as both a conceptual framework and a practical model for community empowerment. The implications are closely aligned with national and global agendas, particularly SDGs 2, 8, and 11, and provide opportunities for replication in other destinations with similar characteristics.

Abstract

The MSME digitalization program in Gunung Lengkuas Village, implemented through the Community Service Program (KKN) of Raja Ali Haji Maritime University, primarily aims to increase the capacity of business actors in utilizing digital technology as a modern marketing tool. This program was designed in response to the challenge of low digital literacy experienced by most MSMEs, resulting in product marketing being limited to conventional methods and less able to compete in the wider market. The research used a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques throughout the 13-day implementation of the activity. Interventions were carried out in several stages, starting from socializing the importance of digitalization, technical training on the use of digital media, assistance in creating Google Business Profile and Instagram accounts, to compiling product catalogs in digital form and designing business logos. The results of the program implementation showed a significant increase in the understanding and skills of MSMEs in utilizing digital media, especially in expanding marketing reach, improving branding quality, and strengthening the competitiveness of local products. In addition, digitalization has been proven to have a positive impact on MSME independence and open up opportunities for greater contributions to the economic growth of the local community. Furthermore, this program also prepares business actors to face the challenges of competition in the global digital market, thus serving as a sustainable strategy to support the digital transformation of the MSME sector. Thus, this digitalization-based KKN activity not only provides practical benefits but also builds a strong foundation for technology-based local economic development

Abstract

This community service activity was carried out in Pangkil Village, Teluk Bintan District, as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the field of community empowerment. The main issues faced by the community were the lack of environmental orderliness, limited waste management facilities, the absence of an updated village map, the need for seasonal information on marine resources, and the unclear boundaries between hamlets. The objectives of the program were to improve the quality of village administration, strengthen environmental awareness, and provide practical tools for daily activities of local residents. The methods applied included observation, participatory design, direct construction, and documentation studies, with active involvement of community members and local government. The outputs consisted of house number boards, communal trash bins, a participatory village map, a seasonal marine resource calendar, and hamlet boundary markers. The results show positive changes, such as an increase in the spatial identity of the village, better waste management practices, and increased awareness of the maritime seasonal cycle. In general, it can be said that the program has successfully achieved its planned objectives. This success can be seen in the increased environmental orderliness through the arrangement of house numbers, increased public awareness of cleanliness through the use of trash bins, and the availability of more accurate spatial data on the village thanks to participatory mapping. Despite several obstacles, such as limited resources and low community participation at the outset, the program successfully achieved its short-term objectives and provided a foundation for future sustainable development initiatives.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a non-communicable disease that represents a major global health challenge, including in Indonesia. It is characterized by a persistent increase in blood glucose levels due to disruptions in insulin production or function within the body. The prevalence of diabetes mellitus has grown at an alarming rate worldwide, with projections indicating a steady upward trend in the coming decades. In Indonesia, this increase is closely linked to unhealthy lifestyle changes such as poor dietary patterns, lack of physical activity, and limited health awareness. The problem is further worsened by low public knowledge regarding the importance of early detection and effective diabetic self-management. Optimal management of diabetes requires a comprehensive approach that combines medical treatment with empowering patients to consistently practice self-care. The purpose of this community service was to examine the effectiveness of health education in improving self-care practices among DM patients at Sosodoro Djatikoesoemo Bojonegoro Regional General Hospital. The program applied a Community-Based Health Education model with participatory learning methods centered on community needs, delivered through lectures and discussions. Evaluation was conducted using pre- and post-tests with questionnaires for 25 participants. The results showed that after counseling, 60% (15 respondents) achieved good self-care. Counseling significantly enhanced diabetic self-management, as reflected in improved scores and a positive shift in categories across all assessed aspects.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the application of information technology in digital marketing in Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tanjung Sebauk. The background of this study is based on the fact that although local MSMEs have begun to utilize social media and digital technology, their use is still limited to the basic level and is not yet optimal. This research also uses a qualitative method with a descriptive phenomenological approach, through interviews, observation, and documentation of MSME actors in the region. The results of this study show that social media such as WhatsApp and Instagram have indeed been used as promotional tools, but have not been utilized strategically. The adoption rate of e-commerce is also still very low, with only a small number of MSME actors trying to market their products through online platforms. In addition, the digital marketing strategies implemented are still reactive, unplanned, and lack consistency in building brand image. In this case, it can be concluded that MSMEs in Tanjung Sebauk have great potential to grow through the use of digital technology, but they still need to improve their digital literacy, receive ongoing assistance, and develop more structured marketing plans in order to compete in a wider market and, of course, become better known to the outside community.

Abstract

The community service program in Singasari Village, Jonggol District, was implemented to address the limitations of digital promotion strategies for local products, despite the community already having relatively good technological literacy. The village has significant potential in the agribusiness sector, supported by fertile land and a population largely engaged in farming and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). However, marketing strategies still rely on conventional methods, such as direct sales in traditional markets, which limit market reach. This program was designed to introduce digital marketing as an innovative strategy to enhance the competitiveness of village products while encouraging local business innovation. The implementation method consisted of three stages: pre-activities, core activities, and post-activities. In the pre-activity phase, the team conducted a needs survey with partners, developed strategies and digital marketing materials, coordinated with the community, and prepared participants as well as evaluation instruments in the form of pre-tests and post-tests. During the core activities, participants were introduced to the basic concepts of digital marketing, supporting tools, and hands-on learning through digital platforms. In the post-activity phase, participants’ knowledge was evaluated by comparing pre-test and post-test results to assess improvements in understanding and skills. The evaluation showed significant improvements in participants’ comprehension of digital marketing concepts, ability to promote through social media, consistency in promotion, and skills in creating communicative digital content. Participants also demonstrated greater motivation to market their products online and increased awareness of the importance of branding. The main remaining challenge is the limitation in creating simple visual content, which requires further assistance. Overall, this program had a positive impact by improving promotional skills, expanding market reach, and building a more professional identity for local products. Future recommendations include advanced workshops, regular mentoring, and the establishment of a village content creator community to support the sustainability of the local digital economy.

Abstract

Digital transformation is a key factor in increasing the competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), including those managed by women in the agricultural sector. However, the limitations of digital literacy, technology access, and mentoring are still the main obstacles. This article discusses Community Service (PKM) activities carried out by Tunas Pembangunan Surakarta University in the Ngudi Makmur Women Farmer Group (KWT), with the aim of increasing the digital and managerial capacity of group members through two stages of training. The first phase focuses on marketing digitization through website creation, the use of social media, and the use of Shopee as an e-commerce partner. The second stage strengthens the internal aspect with financial training based on the concept of micro business sustainability, especially pricing strategies and improving the quality of processed papaya products. The implementation method uses a participatory approach and hands-on practice so that participants can implement the skills acquired. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in digital literacy, online marketing skills, and financial management skills. The integration of these two trainings strengthens the competitiveness of women MSMEs in the digital economy era and becomes an empowerment model that not only focuses on technology, but also on managerial strengthening to support the sustainability of local community-based businesses.
