Abstract

This study developed and evaluated an ADDIE-based Basic Jumping and Running Movement Learning Model (LORI) for fourth-grade elementary school students at SD Negeri 19 Talang Kelapa. The model integrates visual, auditory, and practice-based strategies to enhance students’ locomotor skills, including jumping, running, agility, and coordination. Validation by experts confirmed high content suitability, while reliability testing yielded a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.84, indicating strong internal consistency. Small-scale trials achieved an average effectiveness score of 91.5%, while large-scale trials reached 93.0%, with significant improvements in students’ technical skills, motivation, and engagement. Teachers reported the model as practical, safe, and easy to implement, with activities adaptable to available facilities. Although limitations such as restricted resources and varying student abilities were noted, the model proved effective in fostering skill acquisition, active participation, and enjoyment in physical education. The findings suggest that structured, interactive, and engaging movement models can significantly improve elementary students’ basic motor skills and should be integrated into PE curricula.

Abstract

This classroom action research investigated the effectiveness of the drill method in improving forehand stroke performance in table tennis among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 1 Merapi Barat, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Twenty-three students (13 males, 10 females) participated in two learning cycles, each consisting of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection stages. Data were collected through performance assessments using a standardized rubric evaluating initial stance, execution, follow-through, and shot accuracy. In the pre-intervention stage, only 34.97% of students achieved the minimum mastery criterion (≥70). Following the first cycle of drill-based instruction, mastery improved to 61.51% with a class average score of 72.01. After targeted adjustments in the second cycle, mastery reached 86.98% with a class average score of 80.72, surpassing the 80% classical mastery threshold. The findings demonstrate that structured and repetitive drill training significantly enhances students’ technical skills in executing the forehand stroke. The study supports the application of the drill method as an effective pedagogical strategy in physical education, particularly for developing fundamental racket sport techniques at the elementary school level.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role and form of parental support in supporting the achievements of swimming athletes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews with 25 parents of swimming athletes. Data analysis was carried out using triangulation techniques to obtain an in-depth description and ensure the validity of the information. The results of the study show that parents provide comprehensive support, both in the form of motivation, communication, guidance, and the provision of training facilities and infrastructure. In addition to material support, parents also provide emotional support such as praise, appreciation, and positive encouragement to maintain their children's enthusiasm for training and competing. This support influences the formation of discipline, self-confidence, and improved performance in children. Thus, active parental involvement is an important factor in creating a conducive training environment for the development of young swimming athletes.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between sedentary lifestyle and the level of physical activity of vocational school students in Gresik. This quantitative research with a cross-sectional design involved 60 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using validated Sedentary Behavior Questionnaire (SBQ) and Physical Activity Questionnaire for Adolescents (PAQ-A) questionnaires, and then analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk tests, Spearman correlation, and simple linear regression using SPSS. The results showed that 98.3% of students had a sedentary lifestyle with an average SBQ score of 21.17, while 76.7% of students had a low level of physical activity with an average PAQ-A score of 1.90. There was a significant moderately negative correlation between sedentary lifestyle and physical activity level (rs = −0.497; p = 0.000), with a contribution of 19.6% (R² = 19.6%). In conclusion, the higher the sedentary lifestyle a student has, the lower their level of physical activity. These findings show the importance of efforts by schools, families, and health workers in reducing sedentary behavior and encouraging increased physical activity through educational programs, active activity habituation, and providing an environment that supports a healthy lifestyle.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of anxiety on training motivation among adolescent swimming athletes in Semarang City. A quantitative approach with a cross-sectional correlational design was employed. The sample consisted of 70 adolescent athletes selected using purposive sampling. Anxiety was measured using the Competitive State Anxiety Inventory–2 Revised, while training motivation was assessed using the Sport Motivation Scale–II. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation and simple linear regression. The results showed that anxiety was not significantly associated with training motivation (r = –0.101; p = 0.406). Regression analysis also indicated that anxiety had no significant effect on training motivation (β = –0.092; p = 0.406), with a coefficient of determination of 0.010, indicating that anxiety explained only 1% of the variance in motivation. The ANOVA test confirmed that the regression model was not statistically significant (F = 0.700; p = 0.406). Therefore, anxiety is not a primary factor influencing training motivation among adolescent swimming athletes in Semarang City, thus, coaching strategies should be directed toward other more dominant factors.

Abstract

This study aimed to identify and describe the effectiveness of the jump topspin serve during the Final Four stage of the 2025 Proliga competition. A descriptive quantitative approach with an observational design based on match video analysis was employed. Data were obtained through indirect observation of twelve matches involving four men’s teams, with all jump topspin serve actions considered as the units of analysis. Data collection was conducted using an observation instrument that classified serve outcomes according to their impact on the quality of the opponent’s reception and subsequent attacking opportunities. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics by calculating the serve effectiveness index in percentage form, along with the presentation of frequency distributions and comparisons among teams. The results indicated that the effectiveness of the jump topspin serve varied across teams, reflecting differences in the contribution of positive serve outcomes and the frequency of serve errors. These findings suggest that the effectiveness of the jump topspin serve is influenced by a team’s ability to maintain technical consistency and manage serve-related risks under competitive match conditions.

Abstract

Learning basic techniques of passing under volleyball in elementary school still faces various obstacles, including low active student involvement, limited frequency of ball touch during learning. The 4 on 4 game was chosen as an alternative learning solution because it is able to increase the frequency of each student's touch of the ball, expand opportunities for active participation, and create a learning situation that more closely resembles the actual game conditions so that the learning process becomes more effective and fun. This study specifically implemented a 4 on 4 game through Classroom Action Research to improve the ability to pass under volleyball in elementary school students is still relatively limited. This study aims to improve the ability of basic volleyball passing techniques through the application of the 4 on 4 game playing method in grade VI students of SD Negeri 2 Lejang. This research is a Class Action Research (PTK) which is carried out in two cycles, where each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation of actions, observation, and reflection. The research subjects amounted to 31 grade VI students of SD Negeri 2 Lejang. Data collection techniques are carried out through observation, documentation, and lower passing skill tests. The data was analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis by calculating the percentage of learning completeness classically. The results of the study showed a very significant increase in the ability to pass down. Learning completeness increased from 16.13% (5 students) in Cycle I to 93.55% (29 students) in Cycle II or an increase of 77.42%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the application of the 4 on 4 game is effective in improving the ability of basic volleyball passing techniques while improving the quality of the physical education learning process in elementary schools. The 4 on 4 game can be used as an alternative to the game-based learning model.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement in the dominant sprint movement of students at SMPN 1 Martapura after implementing the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model. The study employed an experimental method with a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 32 eighth-grade students from Class VIII-A at SMPN 1 Martapura, selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a practical test of dominant sprinting movements covering starting technique, gaze direction, arm swing, body position, footstrike, and finish. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Paired Samples t-Test, effect size (Cohen’s d), and N-Gain. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 12.94 increased to 20.31 on the posttest. The results of the Paired t-test indicated a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores, with a t-value (31) of -21.25 and p < 0.001. The effect size analysis showed a Cohen’s d value of -3.756, which falls into the very large category, while the N-Gain analysis yielded an average value of 0.67, which falls into the moderate category. Thus, the application of the Team Games Tournament (TGT) learning model is effective in improving students’ dominant sprinting movement. This learning model is able to create an active and enjoyable learning atmosphere and encourages students to be more motivated in participating in Physical Education classes.
