Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of hand-eye coordination among seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Martapura. The study employed a survey method with a quantitative descriptive approach. The population consisted of 228 students, and the sample comprised 32 seventh-grade students from Class VII D, selected using purposive sampling. Data collection utilized a practical test involving throwing and catching a ball against a wall to measure hand-eye coordination. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics with percentages. The results of the study indicate that the hand-eye coordination ability of the entire sample falls into the “very poor” category, with a percentage of 100%. These results indicate that the students’ hand-eye coordination skills remain low. This finding highlights the need for efforts to improve hand-eye coordination through appropriate instruction and practice. Consequently, more varied instructional models and exercises are required to enhance students’ motor skills in hand-eye coordination across various physical education lessons.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the level of understanding of volleyball coaches regarding the 2025–2028 Official Volleyball Regulations in Ngawi Regency. The study used a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey method. The novelty of the study lies in measuring coaches' understanding of the latest official regulations for 2025–2028, which have not been widely studied in the context of regional coaching. The study population consisted of 14 coaches registered with the PBVSI (Indonesian Volleyball Association) of Ngawi Regency, with 7 coaches meeting the criteria as respondents. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire that had undergone expert validation and reliability testing. Data analysis used descriptive statistics in the form of means, standard deviations, percentages, and frequency distributions. The results showed that the level of understanding of coaches reached 96.16%, categorized as very good. All respondents were in the very good category, and all indicators were in the very good category. The game format indicator received the highest score, while the stoppage of play received the lowest score, although still in the very good category. These findings indicate coaches' readiness to understand the latest regulations. However, interpretation of the results requires caution considering the relatively small number of respondents, thus limiting the generalizability of the study.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the biomechanical characteristics of the right- and left-handed underhand lay up in basketball. The study employed a quantitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach. The sample consisted of 10 basketball players selected using purposive sampling. Data collection was conducted through observation, practical tests, and documentation using a video camera. Motion data were analyzed using the Kinovea application version 0.9.5 to measure the angles of movement during the approach phase, jump phase, and follow-through phase. The results of the study showed that the right-side underhand layup technique had an average takeoff angle of 136.9° ± 5.16°, a jump angle of 87.6° ± 17.8°, and a follow-through angle of 163.9° ± 9.85°. Meanwhile, for the left side, the initial phase angle was 129.17° ± 6.49°, the jump phase angle was 90.7° ± 26.1°, and the follow through phase angle was 162.5° ± 10.5°. The study showed that the right-side initial phase had a larger angle compared to the left side, influenced by right-hand dominance. In the jump phase, both sides exhibit angles that are relatively ideal for maintaining body balance while in the air. Meanwhile, in the follow through phase, hand angles approaching 180° indicate a sufficiently effective movement in helping to control the ball’s direction. Overall, there are significant differences between the right- and left-handed underhand lay up techniques.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the relationship between mental readiness and the performance of volleyball referees at the Volleyball Referee Association of Ngawi Regency (PBVSI Ngawi) in 2026. Psychological issues are frequently the main cause of decreased concentration and emotional stability in referees when officiating high-tension matches. This study applied a descriptive qualitative approach. Informants were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on criteria of individuals holding authority, competence, and direct field experience. Data were collected through a 50-item questionnaire as initial support, in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and documentation. Data analysis was performed interactively, including data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing/verification. Data trustworthiness was ensured through triangulation, member checks, and adequate references. The results indicated that the dynamics of five main indicators of mental readiness - emotional regulation, concentration and focus, self-confidence, anxiety control, and motivation - act as the primary determinants directly related to maintaining performance stability, decisiveness, and professional leadership of referees on the court. In conclusion, mature mental readiness is a fundamental foundation that influences the effectiveness of decision-making and consistency of volleyball referees' performance under match pressure.

Abstract

Football is a sport that requires good technical, biomotor, and psychomotor abilities, including in performing a long throw in. The ability to execute a long throw in is influenced not only by throwing technique but also by muscle strength, explosive power, coordination, and balance. This study aimed to analyze the contribution of biomotor and psychomotor factors to the long throw-in ability of football players at Korwil Widodaren Soccer School. The study employed a quantitative method with a correlational research design. The sample consisted of 20 players selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments included the push-up test, medicine ball test, paired ball throw test, stork stand test, and long throw in test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, f-test, t-test, and correlation analysis. The results showed that biomotor and psychomotor factors simultaneously had a significant effect on long throw in ability, with a significance value of 0.017 (< 0.05). The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.532 indicated that 53.2% of the variance in long throw in ability was explained by the push-up, medicine ball, paired ball throw, and stork stand variables, while the remaining 46.8% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. Partially, none of the variables showed a significant effect (p > 0.05). However, the medicine ball variable had the greatest contribution, with a beta coefficient value of 0.481. Therefore, long throw in ability is influenced by the combined contribution of biomotor and psychomotor factors.

Abstract

Plyometric training is one of the most widely used training methods to improve the physical fitness of volleyball athletes. However, variations in subject characteristics, training forms, training equipment, and intervention duration have led to diverse research findings. This study aims to examine the effects of plyometric training on the physical fitness of volleyball athletes through a systematic literature review (SLR). A systematic search for articles was conducted using the Google Scholar, Scopus, and SpringerLink using keywords relevant to the research topic. Article selection was based on inclusion and exclusion criteria using the PRISMA guidelines, resulting in 12 research articles that met the criteria. The synthesis results indicate that plyometric training consistently improves lower-body power, jump height, sprint speed, agility, and sport-specific physical abilities in volleyball athletes. The most commonly used training programs lasted 4–8 weeks with a frequency of 2–3 times per week on various training surfaces, such as hard surfaces, sand, and water. Thus, plyometric training can be recommended as an effective training method to improve the physical performance of volleyball athletes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the social and economic dynamics of the community around the 17 May Stadium in Banjarmasin during Barito Putera team matches in Indonesia's Liga 2, viewed from the perspective of sports industry sociology. The research method used in this study is descriptive quantitative. The research population includes all members of the community whose activities are influenced by the presence of the 17 May Stadium and Barito Putera team matches, including residents within a ±500 meter radius of the stadium, informal economic actors, as well as regular supporters and spectators. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling of 100 respondents consisting of three groups: residents around the stadium totaling 40 people, active supporters totaling 30 people, and informal business actors totaling 30 people. Data were collected through a 4-point Likert scale closed questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics based on mean and standard deviation norms. The research results show that the group of business actors obtained the highest mean (54.83) with 63.3% positive responses, followed by the surrounding residents (mean 54.00; 67.5% positive), and supporters (mean 49.10; 60.0% positive). It can be concluded that the return of Barito Putera's home matches to the 17 May Stadium has a positive impact on the social and economic life of the surrounding community. The presence of the matches helps to increase interaction among residents and encourages economic activity, especially for business actors around the stadium. However, the benefits felt are not the same for all groups of society. In addition, the community still has a sense of pride and a strong attachment to the Barito Putera Team and the 17 May Stadium. This shows that the support and emotional bond of the community towards the team not only depend on the achievements attained, but also on the sense of ownership and pride in regional identity.
